It's Update time being that we are half way through round 1 for the dragonball dbox design competition. At this point I have a total of five entry's and even so this is going to be a tough competition. I would love to have more than four though do not hesitate to submit a design idea you have nothing to lose :D!!

These are the five entrants so far:

Wow, I'm really digging the designs of Eledore's Blu-ray Dragon Box: Dragon Ball if that were real I'd buy that (if it proved to be an improvement over the DVDs).

The Dragon Ball Saga sets have more or less what I wanted of a DB release so it's kind of hard to top that unless FUNimation were to bring out Dragon Box: Dragon Ball (100% Japanese credits, OP2 & NEPs) which I don't have any hope they do (too much time has passed since then).

Edit: Red Blu-ray cases would go nicely with Eledore's DB BDs nicely.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

By "colour-corrected" I assume you're talking of the Japanese TV broadcasts because it's hard to tell which were the precise colours for this and that since they're different on the releases out there, not just the anime series/films but also on the books.

I gave up on that "colour-corrected" train and just watch it with the colours it has.

Well i mean it makes sense but in Z goku's gi is red when it is clearly orange that bothers me a little when the colors are that warped that they actually change colors. I know this was explained and that it was due to how the film was stored but its time to make the colors accurate to the original broadcast i expect toei or funimation :/ to make this move in the future when they do their or next blu ray release.

FUNimation already did their own colour correction on the Orange Bricks & Blue Bricks but to me that's not a sufficient reason to get them when the picture quality is inferior to other releases they've had before.

This is what the DB Saga sets look like (from R4)
If this were remastered in HD it'd certainly look better but at this stage with quality releases such as this one and the Dragon Boxes, there won't be too much of an incentive, at least not for me.

I would've gotten the Blue Bricks but I despise them for the zoom in and no Japanese title cards.

So how can you say no incentive?? You already said you dont like the blue bricks or the release that does not have the japanese title cards and yes funimation color corrected their terrible releases but they also destroyed the footage and the original aspect ratio with their z releases i would want a color corrected product that is in original aspect ratio has all three scores on if released by funimation and includes japanese title cards and NEPs your telling me a product like that has no market??? I dont buy it :/

The Dragon Boxes Z apparently did well but they were available for a limited time only and besides the hardcore fans does anyone actually care for the NEPs and Japanese cards? Most likely not. They're satisfied with everything in English and even cropped, if I dare say.

They are satisfied with it now because the option of viewing the show the way it was intended with how they liked to view it own it semi cheaply and not have tons of dvd boxes is non existent at this point. I can say i think the new blu rays is a decent release id give it a 6.5-7 out of 10 but there are plenty of people out their that although they will gripe if this did come out would probably cave in if the set had Faulconer Score, Japanese NEPs and opening and closing credits, color corrected and last and most importantly original aspect ratio.

Glad to see I am not the only one getting ready :D Looking good Miss Vegeta!

Here is my idea. I want each series to offer something different but all be able to look like a set (since this is a contest I don't want to do a 100% clone of the Dragon Ball set)
The Slip cover will make this and Dragon Ball look like the same set and hide the difference at the same time :D

Edit:
Another idea as well for the case

I love the simplicity in your designs but I really don't think that they go with the blue color design of regular BD cases. I wish that someone could put together a mock up of how it would look if Criterion output Dragon Ball in a BD release. I love their use of the clear white cases for even BD's and I think it would go a long way in bringing that needed simplicity to the overall design concept of what a Dragon Box release should look like.

They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.
