Yeah the US DBZ Season Blu-rays are Region A & B compatible so there's no reason to wait for an Australian/UK release of it plus these are cheaper and have slipcovers.

Here's the season 4 trailer, the colors don't look all blown out and overly bright like the previous trailers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldNlKwBkAj0

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

True that.

These "trailers" are becoming rather annoying because they hardly show anything of the product they're revealing. :?

I bet this question has been asked before, but to anyone who has these blu-ray sets so far. Do you think these sets are better than the orange bricks?

I think these trailers are perfect. They really instill a sense of nostalgia with their old school Toonami intro vibe. Let's be honest, that really is the group they are targeting with these releases and their marketing is apparently succeeding quite well.

In my opinion yes they are. they are cropped just like the orange bricks except the intro is cropped...better? than the orange bricks haha and they fixed the overly zoomed in ending. but over all I do think they're better. at-least with this release lines of animation isn't getting deleted like in the OB's.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Yes they are indeed much better than the orange brick set. The English audio has never sounded better, and the same goes for the Japanese audio as well.

The cropping has been handled better as well, and is a noticeable difference from the orange brick cropping.

They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

I'm looking at Dragon Ball Z: Season 1 [Blu-ray] (2013)
http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Blu-r ... B00F9IB1M4

And it says Region: Region A/1

Which is:

Region A/1: North America, Central America, South America, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia

Not Australia

Yes, but what official sites say aren't always indicative of what they actually are.

If you look at Blu-ray.com's review, you'll see they tested Regions A &B and confirmed it works on both http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Dragon-Ba ... ray/85277/

Exactly check it out at Blu-ray.com and who really uses Amazon.com for technical details? Amazon.com is always flawed for this type of thing and another reason I look it up elsewhere.

UK residents have bought this too because it's Region B compatible Blu-ray, such as Baggie_Saiyan.

So, I'm wondering something. I heard there are interviews an retrospectives on this. (I'm sure this has probably been mentioned in this long discussion before). Could someone who owns the sets elaborate on this? Like which interview is on which one? I'm just curious.

No one from FUNimation noticed how bright and saturated the video was?! They're a professional company so things like this shouldn't be happening.

Of course the video engineers noticed but it's not like they have any say in the matter and if they're giving fans what they like then there really isn't much else to say now is there. I mean how would you expect a conversation like that to go one of the video engineers says that " this is wrong we shouldn't be doing this to the show we should restore it properly" and lets pretend for a minute that whoever was in charge would actually hear him/her out. The person in charge would reply with "would it make me more money if we restored it properly?" and they would arrive at the conclusion that no it would not make more money because the only things the people care about is having a cheap release that matches what they think a Blu ray should look like (16:9 shiny and grain free.

In addition to what qjz123 posted, the very first post of this thread is constantly updated and lists the bonus features for current (and future) sets. :)

 Oh, silly me for not checking that. These interviews are really cool, but I just wish they weren't constantly interrupted by these fans who "can only watch it in English, DBZ was my childhood yadayada".

Nothing wrong with that? :P Dragon Ball is apart of mine as well. probably 2/5 of mine haha you can't blame these people because they grew up watching the series on Toonami or VHS by Funimation. out of 5 friends of mine off the top of my head are dub fans. I'm the only oddball out of us that likes the Japanese version as well. lol
