Would anyone want a DBZ Dynasty Warriors style game?
Would anyone like to see a DBZ game similar to Dynasty Warriors? I think it would be fun blasting a wave of enemies with ki blast and punching them away up into the sky. In Japan, the Dynasty Warriors style is very popular. The One Piece, the Gundam games and Kamen Rider games are PS3/Wii U are pretty similar to Dynasty Warriors, the upcoming Godzilla game and Hyrule Warriors are also similar to Dynasty Warirors.

Re: Would anyone want a DBZ Dynasty Warriors style game?
For the love of Kami, I hope not as I'm so fucking tired of reskinned games using the same Dynasty Warriors bland generic bullshit and worst of it is that they charge full price as if they were actually new games.
Just a while ago I was really close to pre-ordering One Piece: World Red for Wii U but then saw what the gameplay was like (DW crap) and decided to cancel it.
Please Bandai Namco, don't ever make a DW Dragon Ball game.

Not high on my priority list, but I guess I would take one if it got the kinda love Hyrule Warriors seems to be getting.

If they did it right, and made it fit the world of DB as well as the Zelda one looks to be, and from what I hear the One Piece ones are about halfway towards being...then yeah, I'd like that. It'd be different at least.

Re: Would anyone want a DBZ Dynasty Warriors style game?
Nintendo fans aren't very pleased with Zelda's Dynasty Warriors game and most of them are gearing towards avoiding it because they know it's just another bland DW game with very little originality to it, what's more absurd is that they made a game out of Captain Toad levels from Mario 3D World.Gyt Kaliba wrote:If they did it right, and made it fit the world of DB as well as the Zelda one looks to be, and from what I hear the One Piece ones are about halfway towards being...then yeah, I'd like that. Then again, Zelda Dynasty Warriors is just to fill in until the Real Zelda is released (in 2015) so doesn't matter to most of us (Nintendo fans, such as myself).

How would that even work? Dynasty Warriors has you mowing down tonnes of enemies. There's only one point in the entire series where that could happen, and that's Goku vs. the Red Ribbon Army.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

We've been over this before, I think. Excluding the Tenkaichi Budokai based arcs for the obvious reasons, they can get creative to make it work:Super Saiyan Prime wrote:How would that even work? Pilaf Arc - Various animals or Pilaf mechs
Red Ribbon Army Arc - Various Red Ribbon soldiers and mechs
Piccolo Daimao Arc - Various Mazoku
Saiyan Arc - Various Saibaimen or new grunt Saiyans
Freeza Arc - Various Saibaimen or Freeza soldiers
Cell Arc - Various Red Ribbon mechs or prototype robits
Buu Arc - Various Babidi's followers or maybe mini Buu creatures that the Majin could tear off or something
And that's just if they try and tell the original story like the One Piece game seem to do. If the go the route of Hyrule Warriors and they just try to tell a new story where all the factions exist at once in a new, mixed universe, then they have a LOT more creative freedom.

Re: Would anyone want a DBZ Dynasty Warriors style game?
There should be a good selection of enemies to pick from. It does not have to make sense in order to be fun. They can have:
Various of animals on Earth
Pilaf Machines
Red Ribbion Army tropes
Piccolo Daimo's demon spawn
Saibamen
Biomen from DBZ Movie 2
Tullece's henchmen
Freeza's soldiers
Metal Coola's Guards from DBZ Movie 6
Prototype Androids from Dr. Gero
God Guardons from Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans
Cell Jr's
Babidi's henchmen
The Bio Warriors from DBZ Movie 11
Hitler's army from DBZ Movie 12
The undead that shown up on Earth in DBZ Movie 12
Oni's from Hell
Don Kee's soldiers
Animals on Planet Monmaasu
Machine Mutants from Planet M2
Humans under bebi's control
The Kamen Rider games on the PS3 can have Kamen Rider Den-O fight Foundation X when those two never fought each other.

If done right, and has more depth than the actual DW games, then yes. I seriously wished that BoZ was like that, that way it would save them trouble.

Re: Would anyone want a DBZ Dynasty Warriors style game?
Please no. The musou games are horrendous enough as it is. Nothing quite like mashing the same combos over and over again through crowds of enemies who do nothing but wait for you to slaughter them. Dynasty Warriors Gundam is one of the worst games I've ever played. Boring beyond belief.
I refuse to believe hyrule warriors will be anything more than mediocre as well. It looks like the same old crap we've been getting since DW2 in 2001 or whenever.

The only ones to praise Zelda DW will be a few Nintendo fanatics because the rest will bash it as it deserves it. We're bloody tired of these lame Dynasty Warrior clones everywhere and yet they think we need more of it.radrappy wrote:I refuse to believe hyrule warriors will be anything more than mediocre as well. A DW DBZ game can have a original story and not follow the same old story.

It's not that it matters, it's just that every DW is the same, beat 100 clones and do it afterwards too.Hellspawn28 wrote:A DW DBZ game can have a original story and not follow the same old story.

As a standalone game, no. But if the Musou style can be implemented in parts of the story like Storm 3 did and offered as a separate mode, then yes.

...um...I like Dynasty Warriors...One Piece Pirate Warriors and Dynasty Warriors Gundam are some of my favourites and I'm looking forward to getting Hyrule Warriors and Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate.
I dunno if Dragonball would make a good Warriors game though.

Re: Would anyone want a DBZ Dynasty Warriors style game?
No offense to dboxkaifan or radrappy, but this is pretty much what I've been seeing elsewhere too - tons of fans of the properties in question (Zelda, One Piece, etc.) have been super excited at the idea of the DW styled games (I have a good handful of friends that are diehard Zelda fans that are just as excited for Hyrule Warriors as they are Smash Bros. and the next Zelda game), while a few people who just seem to absolutely hate the DW formula want nothing to do with it.
And that's fine, that's your prerogative of course. But I for one would still happily take a DBZ DW game as it would at least be something different. That and, the whole 'every game is the same' thing can be levied at tons of franchises. Most of the main Mario games pretty much all play the same, just with some added new mechanics brought in...and those are still tons of fun.

Re: Would anyone want a DBZ Dynasty Warriors style game?
No. Just no. Please no. For the love of Dende no. And it's not that I don't like the gameplay, it is quite fun. But, after how many Sengoku Basara games, two Hokuto no Ken games, two One Piece games, Naruto UN Impact, Bleach Soul Ignition, Gundam and now Hyrule Warriors (aside from the ones I can't remember)...maybe let's chill with the Dynasty Warrior clones for a bit?
Besides, unless they make it "Red Ribbon Army, Bardock Special and Metal Coola - The Game" what else is there for that style of game?
With that said...sure, I'd still give a whirl. Especially it was Dragon Ball and not Z.

Your friends, are your friends and they aren't what the Nintendo fanbase are made of. If you want to see what a lot of Nintendo fans think of Zelda DW then visit GBATemp, as even the name itself tells you it's a Nintendo fan-based website. Those who've made their opinions heard have said they're tired of the same lame bs and rather just wait for the Real Zelda game in 2015.Gyt Kaliba wrote:No offense to dboxkaifan or radrappy, but this is pretty much what I've been seeing elsewhere too - tons of fans of the properties in question (Zelda, One Piece, etc.) have been super excited at the idea of the DW styled games (I have a good handful of friends that are diehard Zelda fans that are just as excited for Hyrule Warriors as they are Smash Bros. and the next Zelda game), while a few people who just seem to absolutely hate the DW formula want nothing to do with it.

Mario games pretty much play the same? Not true. There's different series for each and so they don't play the same, that's what you'd expect from DW clones. DW is the equivalent of CoD in Japan, more or less.
1) Super Mario Bros. 1
2) Super Mario Bros. 2 "The Lost Levels"
3) Super Mario Maker
1) Super Mario Bros. 2 (EU/US edition)
1) Super Mario Bros. 3
1) Super Mario World
1) Super Mario 64
1) Super Mario Sunshine
1) Super Mario Galaxy 1
2) Super Mario Galaxy 2
1) New Super Mario Bros. DS
2) New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)
3) New Super Mario Bros. Wii
4) New Super Mario Bros. U
5) Super Mario Maker
1) Super Mario 3D Land
2) Super Mario 3D World
All these listed numerically from 1-2/3 mean that they have different gameplay and so you can't really say they play the same, unless you're referring to a certain game series.
I'm still waiting for Super Mario Sunshine 2, Nintendo...
Well, count the newer One Piece: World Red game which also is another Dynasty Warriors clone and also the Saint Seiya: Sanctuary Battle title.Rukura wrote:No. Just no. Please no. I don't necessarily hate DW but after 5-10mins the fun starts to wear off because of its repetitiveness of killing a wave of 100 enemies, and then killing another 100 enemies.

Re: Would anyone want a DBZ Dynasty Warriors style game?
I don't see why people are moaning over Zelda Musou, A traditional Zelda is also being developed, just don't play the musou Zelda game. It's not like Nintendo is saying "Zelda Musou is all you are getting for the next few years". Bandai could have two developers at the same time.
Re: Would anyone want a DBZ Dynasty Warriors style game?
Agreed!Shinnin wrote:As a standalone game, no. But if the Musou style can be implemented in parts of the story like Storm 3 did and offered as a separate mode, then yes.
I would much rather prefer dynasty warriors styled levels mixed in with a fighting game, It would offer more variety and replay value.
"No. A sword is a weapon. Kenjutsu is the art of killing. Whatever pretty words you use to speak of it, this is its true nature. What Miss Kaoru says are the words of one who has never dirtied her hands. An idealistic joke. But, I like Miss Kaoru's idealism better than its true nature. If one can ask so much, I want the world to accept this joke as its true nature."
