It's not incredible thanks to a small number of drawings and not-so-talented animators, but it's an idea of what we might we. If Yamamuro did storyboard this than he at least has the ambition to have multiple characters fighting in a single cut at once.
Isn't it a good thing that Toriyama is writing a script for the upcoming movie, though? Isn't that almost the same as if he was writing manga? Even director and animation supervisor would have to follow the script as closely as possible, just like they had to for the original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. Let's hope Yamamuro does a good job of storyboarding it.

It would be nice if Toriyama is deeply supervising everything for the movie to maintain the good quality of the movie.
Toriyama is not going to painstakingly choreograph every little thing in his script. There's just no way to do that, especially given his own lack of skill and recent experience in choreographing battles. "Gokuu and Beers fly through the sky fighting" is very far removed from the manner in which such an act is depicted, after all. Shida Naotoshi's cuts of Gokuu versus Beers wasn't good because he just followed some words on a page, they were good because he used his imagination to depict how Gokuu and Beers were positioned in relation to their surroundings. To use another example, Bleach: Jigoku-hen had wonderful fight scenes that couldn't possibly have been thought up cut-for-cut by the writer of the movie. Director Abe Noriyuki worked with his storyboard artists and key animators to create the look and movements of those scenes on a level that the screenplay by Takahashi Natsuko and Ookubo Masahiro wouldn't have been able to detail.

Just got back from seeing the dub and I thought it was pretty darn fun.

Now, I haven't followed the development of the English release at all, but is Funimation gonna be putting out the Director's cut of the movie? I know what I just saw wasn't that, and am hoping the home release will be the extended version.

Well, they dubbed it. So... yea? Sean Schemmel (in typical Sean Schemmel fashion) tweeted a picture of a scene in the extended version and basically said he was in the middle of dubbing it. The tweets were deleted soon after. The scene even had the Fuji TV logo on the top.

Somewhere I saw a post that the Battle of Gods movie was realised in 2013 and also takes place age 778 which two dates perfectly correlate, if we count that the manga was started to be drawn 1984 and the first date we have is age 749, when Goku was 12 years old. So if we assume that isn't accidental, and taking that logic, it can mean that this new movie can take place 2 years ater Battle of Gods, so in age 780, if it will be realised in 2015.

What do you think?

It's possible, but I doubt it's a guarantee. If anything, I imagine the line about Beerus waking up in 3 years (even if he just gets a cameo) would probably be more important than making the films happen in the year they are released.

While I'm very happy they're doing another DB movie, I partly feel they announced the movie too early; waiting until (probably) November or December for the next plot-update is gonna be kinda rough. :(

I'm more worried about its release date. Unless they began working on this right after BOG I'm afraid quality wise it's going to look like the remake of PtETSS.

Why do you think it will look like PtETSS?

I think a new movie once every two years is good. I think DBZ Movie 15 was plan out right after Battle of Gods came out. I think we get another bad guy coming back then I think Boss Rabbit would be nice to see again. We haven't seen him since the early DB days and we know that he is still alive after Roshi blew up the Moon. I'm pretty sure he was wish back to life after he died from Buu. I doubt anyone who died in the past will come back since I don't think Shenron or Porunga can bring back someone if their soul has been reincarnated. I think Cell would have been reincarnated into a grasshopper by now  .

Interesting to see how Toriyama is making the manga go on like this. Kinda like how the Star Trek show ended but continued on in movies, seems like Toriyama is applying the same to Dragon Ball. If he goes on, I wonder what he'll do when he gets to GT era stuff. Retcon, or try to stay consistent? I feel like Beerus coming back will be a goal for Goku. Like in the next movie or even a third if Battle of Gods turns out to be a trilogy, Goku will finally prove he's stronger than him. Or maybe it never gets expanded on, who knows. Vegeta would get his Saiyan God form I would guess. The multiverse would be a very interesting thing to expand on, and the mechanics of that. I'm assuming alternate universes like where Trunks comes from aren't included in that 12. I just hope it keeps some of the humor BoG had.

At this rate, I do see GT getting retcon along with the older movies and the fillers as Toriyama seems to care less about them. I find that good since we can fix up the mistakes in the past now since the events of GT hasn't happen yet. I would just make GT a AU series and have it be in it's own timeline. Not to mention, rumor has it that the new Digimon series is going to ignore Season 2. If they do that to Digimon then Toei might do the same to GT.

Digimon Season 2 gonna get retconned huh? Nice, for all the Tai & Sora fans lol, but seriously Sora and Matt was so out the blue, considering all the develop was between Sora and Tai. Infact I don't remember Sora and Matt having a single noteworthy convo!

With BoG I liked the animation, if TOEI get rid of all the crappy CG stuff that was present in BoG, then this movie should look great!

Regarding when TOEI started working on this, my guess is that they had look at the BoG figures and decided from there and they made the right call, seeing how calling BoG a "world wide success" wouldn't be an overstatement.

I hope this is like BoG, mixing both comedy and action (this is basically what GT should have been since that was what they were going for), but since AT said they'll be more action, I hope that means it'll have a proper 90minute+ run time!

I mean surely SSJ2 Vegeto would be able to take Beers.
Or maybe SSJ3 if he did it quick.

I doubt Vegetto or Gogeta could even get close to Beerus.
From what little fusion reborn gave us Gogeta seems to be in roughly the same league as Beerus, not to mention the fact that neither of them have ever been shown at 100%. Even if Gogeta couldn't seal the deal it would at least be close enough to be entertaining.

SSJGod Goku was considered a 6 by Toriyama, Beerus a 10, Whis a 15, and I'd expect Vegetto or Gogeta at full power to be a 5 or lower

Unless there's something I've missed, that's only fan speculation so far. And apparently at the big anniversary event where they announced this, Koji Wada was there and one of the songs he sang was 'Target', the 02 opening. That doesn't mean anything for sure of course, but it'd be kind of odd to have him sing the 02 theme right before announcing a series that's gonna ignore another one...not to mention they still felt like keeping 02 around for the big crossover in Xros Wars.

Now if they want to just retcon out the epilogue of 02...I can get behind that.

Oh, uh...er...Dragon Ball and stuff! (I also still want Wada to do a song for Dragon Ball dammit!)

Don't forget the fights were done bode CGI in BoG (Or at least some) before being redone in 2d because it was easier to see how the fights would look, I wonder if the director said "Hey if you make them look a little better character wise, we might use the models a little bit in the actual movie,"

Yes, I grew up with the dub so I tend to use Season names instead sometimes. Nothing was official it being retcon, just fans that are guessing that due to some of the plot info that was shown off. If they treat GT as a AU series and not apart of the main timeline then it should be fine. The older DBZ movies were pretty much AU films, so them making GT not canon to the original timeline officially should be fine. It's not like the show will be gone forever. X-Men did the same by erasing X3 and Wolverine Origins out of the timeline.

I feel like it's a stretch to use the word "some." Literally the only plot info we've received thus far is that Taichi will be a 17-year-old high school student. Anything beyond that single tidbit is fan speculation. It sounds like you probably already know this, but with the way your post was worded, I just wanted to clarify for anyone else who was curious.

To bring this back to Dragon Ball, I find it absolutely fascinating that we've managed to reach nearly 60 pages with only two taglines, a 45-second teaser, and the identity of the director. I love how creative and passionate this fanbase is!
