What would vegeta have done if he beats the androids?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

What would vegeta have done if he beats the androids?

Post by Artyom » Mon Nov 10, 2014 7:56 am

Let's say like normal vegeta owned 19 but piccolo was actually successful in destroying 20.
What would happen??

1. In the two sayajins inevitable rematch If it became clear vegetas aim is infact to kill goku do you think goku would then decide vegeta deserved no more mercy and finish him once and for all or attempt mercy once again? (Assuming goku wins)

2. If Vegeta didn't show any clear indication of wanting to kill and won would he have finished goku anyway? or do you think vegeta was soft enough at that point that victory would be enough?

Goku would get a zenkai boost from almost dying and mop the floor with Vegeta, and humilate him by allowing him to live, or saying this wasn't a real fight, or he was holding back a tad or something like that.

Even if Vegeta was out to kill Goku i don't think Goku would kill him unless he had to.

In terms of Vegeta at that point he wanted to defeat him so i doubt if he won he'd go as far as to killing him.

Why would Goku have gotten a zenkai here, when he didn't get one under the exact same circumstances in the manga?

Gee, maybe because that's what happens when Saiyans are near death and come back? Or are you saying there is yet another series inconsistency?

Oh wait, you're saying he didn't get one in the manga? Well now it's not speculation, you are indeed saying the series is inconsistent.

No, zenkais stop after the Namek Arc. Probably due to the characters having unlocked the Super Saiyan transformation.

Is there a source that says that or is that headcannon?

Zenkais in general seem to go away after Freeza since no one gets them, even when they should and it would have been relevant. The only character that gets one after Freeza is Cell but he is not an actual saiyan.

In that case in particular, Goku never comments that he got stronger with a zenkai, so there's no reason to think he should. He even goes as far as to say that if Vegeta didn't beat them, he also won't, which is a weird thing to say if he got a zenkai.

The Daizenshuu (I forget which one, but the quote is floating around here somewhere) state that the near-death powerups become inconsequential or insignificant after the Namek Arc.

My claiming that it was due to the characters becoming Super Saiyans is my conjecture, but it makes perfect sense. Zenkais and Super Saiyan both draw on the same well of dormant power, so achieving Super Saiyan allows them to draw on that power at will, thus eliminating the need for zenkais.

Well now, as that is out of the way let's get back on topic.
I feel if vegeta had murderous intent but lost to goku the fight may be similar to goku's fight freeza where goku is left with no choice. The implications of this on bulma/trunks would be interesting.

If vegeta won however, I think he'd humiliate goku and stretch out his suffering as long as possible before declaring himself strongest in the universe and maybe flying off into space to become the new freeza while sparing goku's life.

What would happen is that Cell would still show up and destroy everybody.

Even without the androids?
I'm pretty sure that Goku and the others wouldn't stop training even when Gero and No.19 are destroyed.
Plus Piccolo can always fuse with Kami, so the Z gang still have a chance to beat Cell.

Piccolo only fused out of desperation because there was no other way to beat the Androids (at the time). If the Androids (19 & 20) are already dead then Piccolo wouldn't take the initiative to fuse. Cell would have enough time to lurk around, gauge how powerful everyone is and absorb enough people until he's the strongest then pick off the fighters. He could even get stronger by absorbing his defeated enemies.

The only way to win (that I see) is if Goku takes himself and Gohan to the Time chamber to train, but that's if Cell or Vegeta didn't kill him first.

Also don't forget Cell probably knows where the laboratory is and would likely go there, absorb the (still) sleeping Androids 17 & 18 and be perfect from the get go.

True, but they could still destroy Gero's lab. Trunks returns, tells them that No.20 and 19 aren't the same androids, Bulma tells them about the lab. Now all they need to do is get to the lab before Cell and destroy it. Without 17 and 18 Cell can't reach his perfect form.
And if things do get outta hand, Piccolo can still fuse with Kami out of ''desperation'' and beat him.

They didn't destroy the androids when they had the chance the first time, what makes you think Goku and Vegeta would suddenly say "yea, let's go preemptively kill these androids without a fight"?

In that case, lol, what would happen if Vegeta beat 19 and 20 before they released 17 and 18, is probably go release 17 and 18 himself so he can fight them.

If he can do that, that is. Maybe only Gero can do it. In which case, they'll stay asleep until Cell shows up and absorbs them.

It's amazing how every single little detail in DBZ has to be there or everybody dies.

This. Cell was stronger than the Super Saiyans when he was first introduced. Absorbing some humans made him strong enough to curb-stomp Piccolo and 17 at the same time later.

What would happen is Cell would be eating people, then the gang would show up to stop him, then he'd kill Piccolo before anyone could react [he wouldn't have fused with Kami, after all], then he'd beat Vegeta one on one after a decent fight. From there, he can either blow up the planet out of spite, or finished eating and get back in the time machine.

Goku was dying from a heart virus and Cell showed up on that same day. He was already stronger than the Super Saiyans before he went on a mad absorbing spree, only surpassed by Kamiccolo and the androids. With no androids forcing the fusion, Piccolo and Kami wouldn't fuse. Even if they did fuse in response to Cell beating Vegeta, it wouldn't make a difference, because Cell could always just keep eating people while hiding his ki. It didn't take him that long at all to match 16. He'd just eat some more humans and then toss the newly formed Kamiccolo aside like the trash that he is.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.
