dbboxkaifan wrote:GTA SA is an openworld with little to do besides controlling vehicles or killing people whereas GTA V has online play with plenty of game modes that'll last for months if not years (1-2+) and in GTA V the gameplay actually functions properly.

Saying GTA SA is better than GTA V just doesn't make sense, of course you can say it in your opinion and your friends.
* Majorly fun and interesting gameplay related to the hood, like gang wars for turf, recruiting gang members to follow you around, fight other gangs, doing drive bys on rivals. Stuff like this gave SA high replay value. GTA V had none of this for Franklin, not even in a diluted form.

* Much better variety of side missions. Aside from the gang wars and recruiting gang members, you could burgle houses, hijack drug package shipments, gambling in the bookmakers and casinos, gym, boxing and more. In V, we get f**king yoga, tennis, triathlon and the very below-par Strangers and Freaks missions.

* Much longer main storyline. V was way too short for how big it was, SA had a very long storyline and it's got a smaller map.

* Element of danger was felt more in the streets of Los Santos. Explosive shootouts between rival gangs would just break out in the streets without the player igniting them.

* 3 different major cities. Added to variety of the map a great deal.

* Much more accessible interiors, including all the fast food joints like Cluckin' Bell and Burger Shot, nightclubs, bars, bookmakers, casinos, gym, barbershop, tattoo parlor, police stations, convenience stores, clothes stores, your own properties and businesses etc. Much more immersion and interaction in the environment than V.

* You could buy your own safehouse properties of YOUR own choice.

* Better clothing options, bigger range of clothing. You could buy lost of expensive jewelry like nice gold/diamond chains, watches, rings, not just minor diamond studs which Franklin could only buy in V.
Gameplay functions properly? If you mean cops going after you when they ram into you,the crappy payouts for most of the jobs in gta online, sometimes being stuck in the clouds, the cops somehow making their cars act like bricks, among other things, that gameplay?
Gta online is terrible IMO, after you hit level 120, you've basically completed it, and there's no point in playing further. R* first saying they weren't developing gta v for next gen, only to do exactly that doesn't help either

I just hope your talking about the progression itself and not the game, cuz I think BL is just as overrated as the BT/RB series, cuz of how short it was, some generic features, hasn't let go of any of the old fighting stiff animations, and with all the "Dimps need to be back" "BL was the last good game!" "OMG Spike sucks". If this game didn't exist, I'd ask for another genre, even if it's only one game.
No, I wouldn't say BL is anywhere near as overrated as BT3 & RB2. Not even close. People didn't want a BL2 or let alone Dimps back because of any forcasted hype, people wanted Dimps back because they were tired of the BT engine and the shallow rehashed failures that kept trying to bank on it. So have I, for that matter.
People praise BL for its Fighting engine having the better pacing, fluidity and the least ammount of technical issues tied to it... in comparison to RB's bad balancing, stiff animations, repetitive play etc.
Zephyr wrote:The fandom's collective fetishizing of "moments" is also ridiculous to me. No, not everyone needs a fucking "shine" moment. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Come on. Both RB series and BL sucked man.

^This.

Also, Burst Limit rules! :D

Its still remains the closet a Dragon Ball fighting game ever came to replicating Street Fighter, in my opinion.

It's freakin awesome! :)

Come on, guys. Does anyone actually enjoy the gameplay videos that we've seen of Xenoverse? The makers of the game can't even get a good game going. I was optimistic at first, but I forgot that I wasn't the one making the game  I feel like they're focussing too much on gimmicks such as more than two characters fighting at a time has prevented this game from being something else, something greater.

I guess I'll get back to Dissiddia for my 3D fighter gaming needs. I decided to stop requesting a 3D DB fighter, since it can't be done the way I've envisioned, which is why I'd be fine with something tried and tested like BL PS4. Or why not a fighter Super DBZ style. Or why not just forget the whole fighter genre in general and give us a kick ass action adventure.

I disagree. This seems like the one game that has kept me genuinely interested for the first time in 5 years. While BOZ was decent, this game's multiplayer and combat seems so fascinating to me. It may just be that one game that gets DBZ games the attention they need.

But Street Fighter (and every fighting game in general) has been adding, removing and altering stuff (be it characters, stages or mechanics) with each iteration. They don't all play the same regardless of how you look at it, even if its presentation looks like it ("2D FIGHTING GAMES LOOK ALL THE SAME, WHY ARE THERE SO MANY"). You're also forgetting the fact that it's the Community that drives these games foward, people buy those games for the multiplayer experience, hence it needs to be updated to keep mainting the feedback from the players.

For Mario games, you should see its games as an expansion of some sort, kinda like "Well, Super Mario Galaxy 1 was great, but I wish it add more levels" and so you get Super Mario Galaxy 2 with new levels and some new powerups. If people wanted to play something different, even in the Mario realm, they can as there are dozens of different new Mario games coming out.

With DBZ however you don't get any of those situations. "Like Tenkaichi 3 but wish it was updated to current-gen consoles with gameplay improvements and the missing characters? Well, you got RB2, which has a really ugly art-style, clunky speed and less characters than T3."
What he said. Nintendo can make Pokemon, Mario and Zelda still be fresh after all these years even with some minor gameplay changes. Street Fighter does have add new content and not to mention they don't release a new game every year. It took 10 years for SF4 to come out after many years of waiting for a sequel when fans thought Capcom was done with Street Fighter after the 90's. Not to mention Street Fighter is more popular then DBZ (At least in the US) and will always end up selling better.

Link me a great gameplay video non-beta that you enjoyed (or if beta then short). I'm getting tired on waiting on Dimps to show us they can choreograph a good fight, they're meant to be the creators of the damn game so show us how it's done.

You should know better Donie. I understand you want to see the best possible version of the game played in a good way but that won't happen for a long time. Luffy broke the game down so we know it won't be shallow.

For now you'll have to endure mindless goons spamming supers repeatedly.

If you were part of the Network Test you'd know this game is worth waiting for and getting new updates about it is rather interesting because it's been seven years since we actually got a proper quality Dragon Ball game for the home consoles.

Each Mario game series has its own iteration and it doesn't feel like it's rehashing the same, what it's doing is using the same universe of character and such.

Original Super Mario - Gen 1:
- Mario 1 (NES)
- Mario 2 (the authentic Japanese edition not that pathetic reskin of Doki Doki Panic) (NES)
- Mario Maker (Wii U)

Super Mario - Gen 2:
- Mario 3 (feels like was already planning SMW at this stage so this is pretty much a prequel to it) (NES)
- Super Mario World (SNES)

Super Mario 64 - Gen 3:
- Mario 64 (N64)

Super Mario Sunshine - Gen 4:
- Mario Sunshine (NGC)

Super Mario Galaxy - Gen 5:
- Mario Galaxy
- Mario Galaxy 2

New Super Mario Bros. - Gen 6:
- New Super Mario Bros. (NDS)
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)
- New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)
- New Super Mario Bros. U (Wii U)
- Mario Maker (Wii U)

Super Mario 3D Land - Gen 7:
- Mario 3D Land (3DS)
- Mario 3D World (Wii U)

As a Nintendo and Mario fan I'm still waiting for Mario Sunshine 2 or an HD version of it as well as sequel to Mario 64.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

The guys from db-z.com got to ask Masayuki Hirano some questions at Paris Games week: http://db-z.com/dragon-ball-xenoverse-n ... ames-week/

Here are three questions and answers I found interesting:

How was Akira Toriyama involved in this game?
He supervised the script for the story mode, in addition to designing two characters, for example the Kaio Shin of time.
Quelle a été l'implication d'Akira Toriyama sur le jeu ?
Il a supervisé le scénario du mode histoire, ainsi que le design des nouveaux personnages, par exemple le Kaio Shin du Temps.
Will the DLC for Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta that comes with the pre-orders be downloadable later?
One have to consider it won't, so it's important to pre-order the game if you want this character.
Le DLC de Vegeta en Super Saiyan 4 offert pour les pré-commandes sera-t-il téléchargeable par la suite ?
Il faut considérer que non, il est donc important de pré-commander le jeu si vous voulez ce personnage.
Will it be possible to fuse?
It's what we hoped to form the start, but in the end we weren't able to make that happen.
Les fusions seront-elles possibles ?
C'était notre souhait au départ, mais nous n'avons finalement pas pu.

We kinda already knew this. One of the previous interviews mentioned that he saw the script and approved of the changes they were making to the Dragon Ball world/story.

It's interesting that they are mentioning he designed the Time Kaioshin, as well as another character (Toki Toki or "Demigra"?). I wonder if this was done specifically for Xenoverse, or if he did it back during DBO and they are pawing them off as new because no visuals were released to the public before now?
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.
My personal "canon" and BP list. (Coming Soon)
