"Please look at those files... Especially Mary Sue... I think he's stronger than Cold already." <. Fixed.

I find the fact that they had a literal Mary Sue character to poke fun at the type whilst their backstories are riddled with them to be a fascinatingly high level of hypocrisy.

He probably will be killed very soon.

Still, why is it that the only character capable of taking Cold is the one they just created? Why not Bojack? Or any of the other ones for that matter, they were all strong enough to take anyone from the Freeza Clan.

I don't think their power is done developing.

As was just said, because he's probably going to be killed. Probably by Bojack.

Also, "volonteer." :D

Generic scientist/soldier is most likely going to be very wrong, the soldier's powers will continue to increase or Bojack will be some sort of miracle to survive an even more experimental procedure with both high odds of death and power increase.

I don't really enjoy Multiverse anymore, but people still jump on the hate train way too fast IMO. So what if their created character is the only one they think can defeat Cold right now? It feels silly. Like getting mad for Roshi being stronger than Goku when he's introduced. I personally would have hated if we started off page one with Bojack being the savior right off the bat. How is that good story telling? It's boring. Granted Multiverse doesn't have a history of telling amazing stories, but there is nothing wrong with getting a little creative along the way (so long as the new characters don't eternally outshine those who are supposed to be the protagonists).

When did Mary Sue just mean "a ridiculously strong original character"?

I thought a Mary Sue was about being a perfect character who has no character flaws.

Not sure how I feel about Bojack's crew having a military background. Sort of conflicts with their original appeal in my opinion.

I actually really like the idea of Bojack originating as a response to the might and will of Freeza's family, only to greatly surpass his entire family in power, and get sealed up.

Well so far this actually has turned out more interesting than I thought it would. Freeza's clan is involved. :?

Maybe not all of them will have a military background.

So what, is Bojack's origin story here going to essentially make him the DB version of Kahn from Star Trek? I'm admittedly intrigued.

To be fair, criminals are a classic staple of experimentation in fiction. I mean, most don't want to kill innocents if the stuff goes wrong. lol

I like the little joke with "Gohana" continuing on from the original special's "Gokua". Also "Wolverine + Bojack = Woljack" (at least looking at Woljack I think that's what they were going for).

This special is boring, and the artwork isn't funny enough to make up for it.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Gokua is his real name from Bojack Unbound :eh:
