AWA 2006 Panel + "Succession" (New DBZ AMV)

Post by VegettoEX » Sun Oct 01, 2006 2:36 pm

At every Anime Weekend Atlanta, the VAT ("Video Art Track") invites groups of guests to showcase a one-hour panel of pretty much anything they want, with the main goal of audience entertainment. It is typically used for AMV editors to showcase past and present works, inspiration, or simply cool stuff. We were welcomed back for a third year, and prepared the following panel for the convention.

MERI & VegettoEX - THE PANEL:

Super fun! Here's our "set-list" (so to speak :P) Super awesome fun. In addition to playing just some of our "regular" videos we also played things that have inspired us or we just found too wacky not to share.

We played our two main videos from the year (Otakon & AWA Pro, respectively). The DBZ video was our entry for the Pro contest, and is the new video for everyone to check out. Please enjoy it! It's a typical 512x384 DivX-5-compatible XviD like all of our recent encodes. It was nominated for both "Best Sentimental" and "Best Character Profile" in the contest.

Title: Succession
Artist: The Get Up Kids
Song: "Holy Roman"
Source: DragonBall Z
Participation: AWA 2006 Professional
Format: XviD (DivX-5 compatible)
Filesize: 61.2 MB
Collaborative: w/ Meri

(Like with our Ippo video, we will not be placing this video on YouTube, and it would be greatly appreciated if viewers would refrain from placing it there, themselves. Thanks for understanding.)

The remastered Broli video will not be showing up online. It will appear as an extra on next year's AMV DVD (volume three) which will be passed out at AWA.

I really wanted to play the Zelda video, after being reminded of it due to the fantastic Kingdom Hearts video also in the Pro contest (Journey of Hearts, which I gave my VAT Guest Award to, calling it the "Why They Hell Didn't Win Anything? What's Wrong With You People?!" award). They're both examples of great VGMVs that don't rely on CG cut-scenes.

The Paradise Kiss OP music video was mainly just because it's soooooo freakin' weird and disturbingly awkward. It's awesome.

The Secret Lives Of The Freemasons video was our final statement and summary for the entire hobby, saying that it doesn't matter who says what... it doesn't matter what you do... competition is irrelevant... stay true to yourself, and rock the Hell out. That's what it's all about.
