Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Because Malik has said the last comic was done probably over a year ago, or more? And this one, being that it's about Revival of F, is obviously more recent?Marco Polo wrote:Woah, the art is noticeably better than the previous minicomic for some reason
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Considering the other choices of DBM, this feels hypocritical.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Really? That's exactly the same conversation we had about Mary Sues two or three pages ago... The author does something humorous involving the news surrounding the latest movie and that basically depicts something that pretty much ALL fans wondered about (Freeza being too weak for the gang), and somehow it must mean that the author is pointing fingers... Once again, the author must have the worst possible intentions...
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I think the biggest problem with the Broli special fitting as it showed Gohan and Goku fighting before the Cell Games, which obviously contradicts the manga. They even throw in a line where Vegeta takes notice of Gohan (to foreshadow his role at the Cell Games) but... that makes no sense when you actually look at the Cell Games, nobody knew how strong Goku or Gohan were and nobody expected crap from Gohan.
The special only makes sense if everybody forgot to sense ki during it... and then immediately forgot the events of it after ward, because even without sensing ki Gohan's improvement would be obvious.

INB4 the inevitible shitstorm that comes with every new page of this comic.
"This special is pointless." "No it's not." "Yes it is." "Maybe, but the art's ok." "The art sucks." "No it doesn't." "Uh-huh." "Nuh-uh."

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
You brought up some good points. It's easier to fit the 1st Broly movie into the timeline compared to the previous films but it can't really fit perfectly. The Z fighters were surprised how powerful Goku and Gohan were during the Cell Games so that implies they never went all out during the 10 day period. The Broly movie would need for them to lose before being able to power up all the way and reveal their full strength.Saiga wrote:I think the biggest problem with the Broli special fitting as it showed Gohan and Goku fighting before the Cell Games, which obviously contradicts the manga. Well, Salagir said, that "our" universe in his manga, had some DBZ Movie villains added in, so he could probably rewrite some events that happened in manga.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I think the movie rewrite could work if Goku and Gohan didn't get a chance to use their full power. For example, Goku senses Broly's power and knows that they wouldn't stand a chance on their own so he begins charging the Spirit Bomb while the other Saiyans distract him. That would leave Gohan but maybe Broly knocks him out too quickly before he could power-up all the way or he decides to give energy to the Spirit Bomb once he sees Goku charging it. The rewrite would be much shorter than the original movie but might be able to work without having to change anything during the Cell Games.coola wrote:Well, Salagir said, that "our" universe in his manga, had some DBZ Movie villains added in, so he could probably rewrite some events that happened in manga.

Now, that's funny. Reread this idea and go take a look at the 8th chapter of DBM. It looks familiar, doesn't it?Skar wrote:I think the movie rewrite could work if Goku and Gohan didn't get a chance to use their full power. Well it should sound familiar considering it was based off that specialTzigi wrote:Now, that's funny. Reread this idea and go take a look at the 8th chapter of DBM. It looks familiar, doesn't it?
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
That idea would work much better, yeah. I honestly think it'd be easiest to say Movie 8 happened in its own universe, and in the manga universe Broli just died as a kid or something.Skar wrote:I think the movie rewrite could work if Goku and Gohan didn't get a chance to use their full power. That's probably the approach I'd take if I was working with a premise like DBM's. Put the movies in their own universes, explain what changes made them possible (and only tweaking things that might be contradictory to the manga like how the movies have the base Saiyans fight nearly as well as Super Saiyans), explain why they didn't happen in the manga timeline.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
That could also work but then the movie characters wouldn't be familiar to the manga characters of the other universes. For example, Broly might have wiped out everyone in U20 but if he was killed as a baby in the other universes but no one would recognize him as a threat until his match in the tournament. It would be difficult to include Cooler in U8 only and say he was killed or never visited Earth in the other universes. I think that's why Salagir only chose movies that could fit or could with minor tweaking so that they could take place in as many universes as possible. Some changes were made to non-canon characters that didn't feel necessary and had no impact on the story though.Saiga wrote:That's probably the approach I'd take if I was working with a premise like DBM's.
