Yeah, cause that kind of censorship of five seconds of middle finger really ruins the whole feel of the scene, and largely impacts the story.FatNagger69 wrote:How dare we disapprove of censorship in a show we love. Was this your response to Raditz's death scene?Cold Skin wrote:But feel free to mention how TERRIBLY IMPORTANT a middle finger is.
Wanna know what's actually important to convey about the original author's vision? Bulma with purple hair. Super Saiyan with white or blue flames. Goku wearing orange and not red. Freezer killing Cargot.
Now, who did those missteps? Ah, yeah... It was the original shows, and those were much bigger mistakes that current productions are still prisonners of.
And for Raditz, Kai was wrong about having Goku burned, they should have left a hole. However, they were right to discard Raditz puking blood as it was a gross part that was not in the manga.
Raditz's death never felt gory in the manga, it should not be gory in the anime. But it did seem like they both had a full hole in their chests in the manga, so Kai should have left the holes.
All in all, Kai's scene wins as the lack of hole has much less negative impact on the scene than Raditz trying to paint the whole camera in red.
Middle fingers such as Vegeta's on planet Namek MUST be removed as they don't make sense to begin with and seem unnecessarily vulgar.
Middle fingers such as Gotenks' are disposable, it's detail, it's a shame because it's part of the original panel, but nothing that spoils the experience... unlike what Z did at the time and that Kai has to drag around now (getting rid of the horrible filler and cheesy outdated non-dramatic music can't cover for all of Z's problems).
