Why not a "General/Miscellaneous Discussion" Section?
Now I understand this is a Dragon Ball-related website, you don't have to remind me, but I think it would be a very positive improvement to this community; Both to us existing members, and people for the people looking on from the outside thinking about joining.
Think about it, most every themed forum has at least one small section to discuss things not related to the theme of the website. Why? Because this way, you can discuss other anime/manga or any other general topic with the same people you know and love, as well as people with nerdom expertise. If I were to ask an obscure question about Doraemon, I might possibly get it answered, and let's face it, there are plenty of Anime/Manga series with either too small of a community to really generate a discussion or no community at all.
It would certainly help me, would it help you?

Was the hate for Kai largely unjustified?

The story of Kai's production is far more interesting than the actual product.

Mike already gives more than enough leeway than he really should when it comes to non-Dragon Ball discussion in threads. Giving an entire section to that sort of discussion only invites folks to come here or stick around for those sorts of threads.

Agreed. General sections often become the main attraction.JulieYBM wrote:Mike already gives more than enough leeway than he really should when it comes to non-Dragon Ball discussion in threads. I've seen a handful of sites add them, and it usually hurts the rest of the board.

He can still give it a shot and if it gets too sticky to handle, he can close it.JulieYBM wrote:Mike already gives more than enough leeway than he really should when it comes to non-Dragon Ball discussion in threads. He already does that. This thread has practically become a thread for complaining about Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal and Toei Animation, rather than Dragon Ball. There are plenty of other threads that appear on occasion that shift a great deal away from Dragon Ball to other subjects, too.Arian wrote:He can still give it a shot and if it gets too sticky to handle, he can close it.JulieYBM wrote:Mike already gives more than enough leeway than he really should when it comes to non-Dragon Ball discussion in threads. The only way I can see Kanzenshuu getting a off topic forum if Mike create a Kanzenshuu subscriber feature where members get a private board on the forum for Subscribers. Subscribers can get:
- A private board on the forums
- A bigger PM box
- Forums sigs (Which you can turn on or off at any time)
- Sneak peaks and testing of new features being added to the site
- Members can get a cool new badge above your avatar and your username to let others that you're subscriber to the site.
- A cool Kanzenshuu T-Shirt

We had a separate forum once. I forget the name of it, but it was hosted by a user unrelated to the site. It didn't last very long because nobody was interested in it.

I'm almost certain that Mike has said that there would never be "pay-only" content on Kanzenshuu. It came up in the first Donation thread, I believe.Hellspawn28 wrote:The only way I can see Kanzenshuu getting a off topic forum if Mike create a Kanzenshuu subscriber feature where members get a private board on the forum for Subscribers.

I'm sure it would have been an entirely different story if that off-topic forum was part of this forum.JulieYBM wrote:We had a separate forum once. I forget the name of it, but it was hosted by a user unrelated to the site. It didn't last very long because nobody was interested in it.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Why? Is not the idea to speak with those who frequent Kanzenshuu? Why does that need to specifically be associated with Kanzenshuu? Especially if said users all band together to keep the forum up and promoted. Mind you, I have still seen this sort of sub-culture devolve into disgruntled users banding together to turn such a forum into a pity party and place to be nasty folks, so I can see how Mike and the others really wouldn't want the Kanzenshuu name associated with a forum they have no control over.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:I'm sure it would have been an entirely different story if that off-topic forum was part of this forum.JulieYBM wrote:We had a separate forum once. Re: Why not a "General/Miscellaneous Discussion" Section?
Because it isn't the same forum. It was a different site, and people that are new in the forums wouldn't be able to know about it, and post in it, unless they have seen it mentioned in a thread, and then they would have to create a new account for it. And since the off-topic site won't be as interesting as "the main forum", since people are DB fans, people will stop posting in it & advertise it, so it gets forgotten eventually, just how it happened. If we had an off-topic section instead of an off-topic site, do you think that the off-topic section would have been forgotten by now for years?JulieYBM wrote:Why?
