Man I'm mad! This roster SUCKS! I'm going to wait for this game to get cheap, and wait to see what they have in store for the sequel.

I haven't been following the game much lately. Has anyone noticed any gameplay changes since the beta? I noticed dashing seems a little faster.
Edit: Wait what?! Local multiplayer is confined to the World Tournament stage?!?

Step attacks are added, which might or not might remove my Vegeta or Radditz infinite from the network test
dash cancels after knockback attacks uses up 1 bar of Stamina/Guard meter, but the followup is easier to connect, as the dash seems to be automatic in this case
jumping recovery added
Local multiplayer only World Tournament stage.

Now? People have always been disappointed about this, we've just been letting it slide because we tought it would get fixed/changed...which it didn't. Stuff like this, the transformation/costumization system affects the entire game and there's no reason why it couldn't be changed. Why did they make a transformation system that only benefits the Saiyans, making any other character with transformations either having their form separate (why is Perfect Cell separate from Super Perfect Cell, he kinda fits into the transformation system but whatever) or having them removed outright for no reason (bye any Super Buu absorption, we'll miss you) and even limits the fanservice aspect this game hs going for thanks to how limited they are. The costumization system makes things worse, because it causes the whole BT3 dilema, if you want to use Goku's outfit from the Freeza Arc, you won't be able to use Buu-arc attacks nor transformations... which could easily be fixed with a Capsule System.Zenkashuu wrote:In the end, that's what really matters for this fanbase. *sigh*EA575 wrote:I just love how some fans think character roster is the only important thing in a Dragon Ball game...
These were known months ago and you are disappointed now?P5BLDV wrote:Local 1v1 is only on the world tournament stage. Massive botch by Dimps. No HUD vs CPU or in online vs, another massive botch. Dimps' focused so much on fluffy gimmicks like 2v2, 3v3 & CaC and messed up on the basics that make the game playable. Stupid, game went from a 9 to a 6 in my eyes because of these easily avoidable design flaws.
Again, this game has a lot of things going for it, the graphics, the overall battle system and the CaC are all amazing and it's better than all the games we've gotten, but then it disappoints you by limiting/not including the most basic features for some reason.

That's' what it looks like. I guess they decided against using split-screen.DonieZ wrote:I haven't been following the game much lately. Has anyone noticed any gameplay changes since the beta? I noticed dashing seems a little faster.

Because transformations are temporary in this game, and they're going with logic rather than just for pure gameplay (Super Perfect Cell can't revert back to Perfect cell, etc). I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to fight a permanent Super Vegeta or a permanent 100% Final Form Freeza online with all the stat boosts transformations give you.Quebaz wrote:Stuff like this, the transformation/costumization system affects the entire game and there's no reason why it couldn't be changed. You also start the match with 0 ki bars. So no SSJ at the start of the fightSuper Saiyajin Luffy wrote:

In the Tenkaichi series villains couldn't revert back to their previous form once you transformed, so i think the decisions to this transformation system wasn't well thought out at all.EA575 wrote:That's' what it looks like. Same for the saiyans but that doesn't matter because it would unbalance the game.EA575 wrote:They also didn't get a significant damage and mobility boost.IGhostUlt wrote: In the Tenkaichi series villains couldn't revert back to their previous form once you transformed, so i think the decisions to this transformation system wasn't well thought out at all.

Then why give us all of these unfiar stat boosts then? Why couldn't they make it like the Budokai series which let you stay transformed thanks to a Stamina System, gave us balanced Stat Boosts and in cases like Shin Budokai 2 let your start the battle while transformed? You know what I mean, they already had perfect systems in the previous games, but for some reason are changing it for the worse here.EA575 wrote:That's' what it looks like. Yeah, it's only four that are fucked up(those two along with SSJ Teen Gohan and SSJ4 Vegeta), but yeah SSJ transformations in the show in general were temporary while the rest of the transformations weren't. I know people are gonna say "THEY ONLY POWER OUT WHEN THEY'RE KNOCKED OUT" true, BUT, some SSJ forms also power out when they're tired too. I for one am glad it's like this, cuz it made them took more time to fix the gameplay and add NEVER BEFORE SEEN characters.IGhostUlt wrote:Thats not entirely true because of characters like ssj4 goku, ssjg goku, etc.EA575 wrote:Hence why transformations are temporary in Xenoverse.IGhostUlt wrote: Same for the saiyans but that doesn't matter because it would unbalance the game.

I don't mind the transformation system, I think trying to master SSJ3 use in combat is a fun challenge since I get big attack buffs but massive ki drain where I'm screwed after. There's also the special treatment super saiyan cool kids who get most of the benefits with no drawback(that one form of Gohan, SSJ4 etc)
What I don't like is not being able to see the CPU's HUD. How does this seemingly minor quirk nerf gameplay you ask? How can I know how long of a combo to use after I guesstimate the CPU used all of its vanishes? I can't see how fast/slow the green bar is recovering so now I have to basically count in my head and guess which combos are practical or not. How can I know when the ki bar is above 3 bars/full so I can look out for an ultimate. Sure I can react to it but I'd much rather keep on eye on the ki so I can plan a better approach. And all these issues exist in online vs which is worse since the opponent is player controlled which tosses in a whole new dynamic of random.
The HUD issue is fixed in local vs but we're fixed to one stage, the worse stage in the entire game. When at least half the stages in the game, Sky, Space, Cave, Cell games etc would work PERFECTLY with the local camera. The game delivers on character design, gameplay, framerate etc(most important stuff) but ruins it with odd choices. So either DImps rushed this game out or the CaC, Story, 3v3 fluff screwed the budget/deadline and caused them to mess up the most basic of features.

What? The slow energy charge that shouldn't have been a super in the first place and it's way too slow so no one will use it anyway because you can build up more ki by landing normal attacks? What of it?EXBadguy wrote:*ahem* Does Full/Maximum Power Energy Charge ring a bell?Quebaz wrote:

I think he might be referring to abilities in BT3 where you could just dump all your blast charges to have max power energy. If stuff like that is in this game then that is another, bigger monkey wrench being chucked into the game's 'balanced' fighting system. Though I might be misinterpreting what he is saying.Quebaz wrote:What? Going on hiatus. Too much stuff in RL to deal with for me to keep up with posts here for now. Was fun, hope you all have a nice day and future! Volt signing off.

I meant transformations in the sense of transforming in-game, not the character itself.IGhostUlt wrote:Thats not entirely true because of characters like ssj4 goku, ssjg goku, etc.EA575 wrote:Hence why transformations are temporary in Xenoverse.IGhostUlt wrote: Same for the saiyans but that doesn't matter because it would unbalance the game.
My guess is they want to make transforming useful instead of just getting a new look and perhaps getting a couple of new specials or else it would be useless. I do think they made it too good--I think they also realized that, which is why the match now begins with both characters having 0 ki bars. Starting a match transformed, if they were to keep with the idea of getting a stat boost, would be unfair for the characters who can't transform at all.Quebaz wrote:

"Slow"? Sure, the regular one is, but the upgraded Full and Maximum charges are faster from what I've seen in some videos. But, yeah, whatever floats your boat if you don't like 'em.Quebaz wrote:What? I find that this is actually an interesting game making an effort to make the transformations more valuable adding a whole new element to gameplay with temporary transformations, I love it!

Yeah in fighting games that don't have super meters and such. For fighting games that do like anime fighters especially. It is important to know your enemy's resources. This game has 2 bars which are both critical to gameplay. Yellow for supers/ultimates, green for dashing/vanishing/escape moves/boost follow ups/offensive vanish.Yeah, not seeing the CPU's HUD is dumb, but hey, when people play fighting games, most people are gonna look at the health bars anyway.
When the green bar is gone, it is open season. You'd think that having access to the state of this bar would be something axiomatic when it comes to design choices. So unless someone wants to commit the green bar rates for EVERY character to photographic memory, high level play has basically be shut off. Now we'll be limited to use safe, boring tactics for fear of being punished because we're in the dark about our enemy's resources. This isn't FPS or a damn RPG Dimps.
