I'll say this: Guardians Of The Galaxy was touted to fail because of it's seemingly much lighter, softer and comedic tone even by Marvel movie standards. And that film ended up being a hige success. If FnF ends up being the best critically received Dragon Ball Z film ever, I will die laughing.

If the 120 min run time is true, then ain't fight fight fight going to get boring eventually? Godzilla is a perfect example of this, we hardly see the dude and that was what made the final fight scene so good. (Well in my opinion). That is what I want from this movie too, one epic fight at the end, instead of several sprinkled throughout like Man of Steel (my only grip with that movie).
I have no doubt it will be.Lord Beerus wrote: If FnF ends up being the best critically received Dragon Ball Z film ever, I will die laughing.

So to bring up an actual point of discussion....
Is anyone else noticing a bunch of tonal similarities between BoG/RoF and the Otherworld Tournament filler arc? I think that's probably the closest that the anime ever got to what the new movies are doing.

July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
The thing that popped into my head on Freeza's punishment, was some old Animaniacs skits that did similar things where characters have to endure this stuff (the Barney parody character was the first one I thought of, but the Sound of Music parody character works too).
That was super-long ago though, so I don't fully recall how the Warners rescued themselves.

Ahh good times, I miss those guys. Also, Freeza was a pretty funny guy (Kai dub) I laughed at things he said on more than one occasion.sintzu wrote:http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/ori ... -the_g.jpgEXBadguy wrote:When Freeza's around, do you expect to see many comedy elements?

With all the flak this movie has gotten now outside this community, I can see this having at least the same reviews as BoG, which were decent.Lord Beerus wrote:I'll say this: Guardians Of The Galaxy was touted to fail because of it's seemingly much lighter, softer and comedic tone even by Marvel movie standards. Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I solely blame the Transformer movies for ruining the concept of building up action in action movie. Action films with constant fight scenes only work well if it's confined to one area. Hence why it worked so well with The Raid. But if you build up or hype up a fight scene and then have the fight scene happen constantly all over the place it may look cool, but you become numb to the idea of Autobots and Decepticons fighting each other because you've already seen it so much.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:If the 120 min run time is true, then ain't fight fight fight going to get boring eventually? The Ginyu Force were a part of Freeza's arc. Considering they worked for Freeza and called in specifically by Freeza.EXBadguy wrote:I'm talking about his own arc.sintzu wrote:http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/ori ... -the_g.jpgEXBadguy wrote:When Freeza's around, do you expect to see many comedy elements?

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I sorely doubt the movie will be even 105 minutes, let alone 120 minutes. Unless Yamamuro and the Toei Animation producer assigned to the film managed to corral a ton a talented key animators I also doubt there will be much in the way of action. We know based on Twitter profiles that the CG department of Toei Animation has been busy at work creating CG for the movie, so a lot of the film is probably going to be CG, too. If this was Murata Kazuya pulling off another Hagane no Renkinjutsushi Milos no Seinaru Hoshi, a 120 minute movie with a ton of action would work. This isn't going to be that movie, though.

Exactly, also didn't Ginyu do some wacky dance in front Freeza too?Lord Beerus wrote:The Ginyu Force were a part of Freeza's arc. Then again, you have people here who are bitching about the animations. I forgot to add that, so it's not just those two communities.Lord Beerus wrote:Youtube and Saiyan Island don't count as communities.EXBadguy wrote:With all the flak this movie has gotten now outside this community, I can see this having at least the same reviews as BoG, which were decent. They're hipsters that refuse to take off their nostalgia glasses.
Aaand, I have to be honest, but I'm one semi-hipster who has only one nostalgia goggle on my eye
Wait...I thought the Namek and Frieza arcs were apart from each other. I know they're both part of one saga, but still...Lord Beerus wrote: The Ginyu Force were a part of Freeza's arc. Considering they worked for Freeza and called in specifically by Freeza.

Then why are you even here? This obviously isn't for you. Allow me to redirect you to Dragon Ball Multiverse or Dragon Ball AF. I feel those will suit your needs better than anything this movie will give you. As for the rest of us real fans, we'll continue to wait and see what Toriyama has in store for us. I'm too excited and can't wait.Bullza wrote:Erm no, that's not even remotely funny...They tried being funny in the last movie with Pilaf and they failed miserably unless you were a 5 year old who found drawing poo's funny. These are Hell's Angels. Cute and cuddly creatures torturing the PLANET-DESTROYING TYRANT known as Freeza. That's funny. That's humorous.
That makes no sense. This movie is aimed at Dragon Ball Z fans who are well aware of the show and its violence and didn't stop them from liking it anyway. Stripping that away and putting in more childish scenes isn't what fans want. This film is aimed at international audiences, too, so this film has even less room to be violent.
Nobody said anything about it being super serious I'd just rather not turn into a childish joke.I cannot for the life of me see why anyone would want a super-serious non-spinoff Dragon Ball movie.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I know what they don't want and they don't want cute baby theme coloured angels based and voiced by some girly Japanese pop idol band having "comedic" scenes with Frieza in a Dragon Ball Z movie. So you know what fans want?

He's just as much as a "real fan" as you are. Nobody would be reacting so passionately to something like Dragon Ball if he didn't love it so much. Try to respect everyone's opinion.FutureGohanSSJ2 wrote: Then why are you even here? This obviously isn't for you. Allow me to redirect you to Dragon Ball Multiverse or Dragon Ball AF. Because I like Dragon Ball? Does me being on here mean I must accept anything related to Dragon Ball? There's nothing you haven't liked from this entire meta series? Then why are you even here?
That's a pretty elitist thing to say for someone who only has 7 posts. As for the rest of us real fans

No, you don't know what anyone doesn't want as much as they do want. It's all subjective. Many people like childish humour as much as they don't like it.Bullza wrote:I know what they don't want and they don't want cute baby theme coloured angels based and voiced by some girly Japanese pop idol band having "comedic" scenes with Freeza in a Dragon Ball Z movie. So you know what fans want?
