So some brand-new animated material, written and conceived by the original author as a continuation of his main story, is seemingly overwriting a poorly-executed, cash-grab sequel series labeled as a "side story" since forever... and anyone, anywhere, at all, is actually upset about it?
Getting new Toriyama-heralded movies which supersede GT is a BAD thing now? Did I wake up in some sort of freaky alternate universe where all sense and reason is inverted?
I mean, I like GT as its own thing to a certain extent too, but come on.

To be fair Heroes is just kind of an exercise in, "Hey, let's make a cool arcade game and just throw in everything we possibly can!"Gianchio wrote:IMHO DB Heroes is mere abuse of the brand...TheGmGoken wrote:Yup. Entirely fair enough. I don't begrudge anyone for not liking BoG as much as I did, and I'm sorry if I come off that way as I'm arguing against other points.TheGmGoken wrote:I see where you're coming from. I suppose that is your opinion, yes. What I don't get is why GT fans want the new movies to take GT into account. What does it add to GT? GT is contained within itself and relies heavily on the Z anime to prop it up, how would new movies that take place before it effect it in anyway? There are no questions at the beginning of GT that need answering with prequels. You can enjoy GT as its own thing still with or without the new movies, while the new movies provide something to push the plot of the original story forward.

Sometimes I feel like DBZ fans hate anything that is new
. DB- is nowhere as bad as most fans make out to be. You have fans that hate on BOG for power reasons but still love GT and the old DBZ movies. I feel like DBZ fans are never happy with anything. Toriyama is better when it comes to making DBZ stuff compare to Toei in my opinion.
You should see how the Alien fanbase can be when it comes to new material. Alien 5 is ignoring A3 and A:R, you have some fans on AVPGalaxy that are not happy about it.Captain Space wrote:(And here I thought the Saint Seiya fandom was divided about new material

The lack of quality television that Dragon Ball GT is aside, 'cash-grab' is such a horrendously bad attempt at demeaning the worth of Dragon Ball GT. Everything about Dragon Ball is a cash-grab, including these past two movies.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Exactly. Just because you don't like BOG or any of the new stuff doesn't mean Toriyama can't do anything. It means that you simply don't like BOG.Captain Space wrote:I suppose that is your opinion, yes. Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Well, there's a bigger argument there, but the issue is the nature of these "cash grabs". To clarify, GT was a "cash grab" and nothing else. At least these "cash grabs" have Toriyama trying to do something new and interesting, from his mind; not Toei Animation's questionable writing staff.JulieYBM wrote:The lack of quality television that Dragon Ball GT is aside, 'cash-grab' is such a horrendously bad attempt at demeaning the worth of Dragon Ball GT. I don't think BoG has as many holes as some people seem to think, though there certainly are some.

I hated minus but love BoG and am very excited for RoF. I didn't like what Toriyama did with the Bardock story and much prefer the TV special.Hellspawn28 wrote:Sometimes I feel like DBZ fans hate anything that is new. I like Xenoverse, EoB, 2008 Special, Heroes, and New BGM. All are fairly new stuff. And no fandom is happy with everything because everyone has an opinion. There's no universally approved opinion. I don't dislike BoG for power reasons. Also have you Read Gaffer Tape and Rocketman post about Minus? Pretty much sums everything up on why Minus is trash.Hellspawn28 wrote:Sometimes I feel like DBZ fans hate anything that is new. DB- is nowhere as bad as most fans make out to be. Though I like most of the new material, I do agree the Father of Goku special was a better story than Minus.
(Though at least Minus had Goku's mother in it.)
