How different was the Ultra Divine Water trip in the manga?

Apparently, that big "Darkness" water monster thingy was anime-only. So how did the trip go about between Goku and Yajirobe when they sought out the Ultra Divine Water?

There was no trip. Karin just handed over the water and said something like "this is the real divine water. It's said to be able to increase the power of who drinks it, but it acts like poison and so far no one who drank it has survived". Goku drinks it, struggles for his life for a while (hours?) and then recovers.

So Goku was rolling around in pain on Korin's tower while Korin and Yajirobe watched? XD

And Yajirobe took a drop to drink in the manga, right?

Yes, pretty much.

Yes, he took one drop, and reacted violently to it for a few seconds. I think the anime also has him do it.
