I'm late to the party! I didn't realize there was going to be another series. After the plots were revealed for Resurrection 'F', I didn't think anything significant was gonna happen, but it seems that wasn't the case!

So, uhh... Anything important other than the piece of information posted on Kanzenshuu I should know?

Nothing new since the initial announcement; it's been all theory from then out.

Hoping that maybe next week's Weekly Jump will have something.

Re: First images when?

For comparison; Go!Pri's first images showed up December 11th and the show premiered February 1st. (Used my tumblr archive as a source).
If at the earliest we start the 5th of July, that'd put the first image leaks in early-mid May.
Be on the lookout for early-release tie-in merch? That's where Go!Pri's leaks were taken off of.

Why wouldn't it be, it'd be the same as SSJ1 using god ki, but with SSJ3.

I'm failing to see how you're even making a point with the unsubtle jab there.

I'm basically pointing out that it's actually very possible that that will be Goku's future transformation, as you just agreed with, only with the cool parts removed.

From here on out, the majority of my posts here will definitely focus on the animation side. It will be very interesting to see who will be commissioned to animate the series. It won't be the same studios that will do them as they were in the heydays. It will most likely be Tadayoshi Yamamuro, Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Naotoshi Shida, Naoki Tate, and possibly Oonoshi Ryou that will be the animation supervisors for each episode produced. They have experience with the franchise so it will be cinch for them to do the cuts. The only questions are: who will be key animators and how many drawings allowed per episode.

Kind of weird since aquiring my first dragonbox set, when I finally decided I would view the entire show again (Dragonball watched for the first time, Dbz-would be my second viewing) from DB through GT is when a new series now comes out. Worked out perfectly for me.

On the Cell saga after 17 gets absorbed.

There won't be as small and consistent a set of key animators, either. Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z had their episodes mostly sub-contracted to smaller studios for the entire episode. Now we're likely to have a dozen key animators from two or three different studios all working on the same episode together.

The fact that a very good series director was confirmed probably helps out a lot.

I know it won't always be good animation for all episodes, as is the case with One Piece, but it will be sure as heck it will have a lot of fun episodes because of the series director.

Just knowing that we're going to have variety and not be hampered(?) by Yamamuro storyboarding ala F is enough to get me excited. All this time I've been envious of how much creative love Toei throws Precure's way (despite the fact that I really enjoy Precure) and now we might actually get to finally see some creative-looking new Dragon Ball animation. And mood lighting! How I've missed mood lighting. TuT

There'll also be bad episodes, sure, but for the good ones it could be some amazing stuff.

Sugie Toshiharu has been working on Toei Animation series lately. He might be asked to be an action animator for the series.

That would be great if he does it.

This is all so cool! There's so many more doors open now animator-wise that we're getting a series compared to grabbing people to work on a movie.

A series does allow for more animation supervisors and bringing diversity to the look of Dragon Ball. If there is no heavy hand of the chief animation supervisor then we might be able to see talented animation supervisors bring their flavor to their episodes. Of course, if no talented animation supervisors are involved then we probably don't get a very interesting looking series.

I just re-watched Saint Seiya Omega Episode #51. It's definitely the best episode of a Toei Animation series in years. Hatano Morio and Umakoshi Yoshihiko went all out with it. It makes me hope both can work on this series in some capacity. Umakoshi worked on Dragon Ball Z, but now he's a completely different animator and can really make animation that burns passionately.

Umakoshi is awesome. *Is familiar with him from HeartCatch.* I really dig how stylish his art is. I'd really like to see him involved.

I will have to look up info on Hatano. I bet I've seen his work, but haven't heard of his name.

It's a Super Saiyan 3 recolor with blue hair, which you suggested be tweaked to have the same effects that the God Ki has.

So no, I didn't agree, I stated the obvious without the bitter negativity.

Hatano Morio is a regular episode director and storyboard artist at Toei Animation. I really liked his Disk Wars: Avengers Episode #17. Assuming we get nice, plot-heavy episodes for Dragon Ball Super I think he would be a great choice.

Well, I certainly didn't expect to start an argument with that image.

I'm guessing we'll get our first look in the next V-Jump, which will be around May 20th, right?
Also kinda unrelated, but there is a pretty good chance they'll announce the next console game this May, it'll be interesting to see if it is branded as a Dragon Ball Super game.

Why'd they annouce it already when Xenoverse just came out?

I dunno why some people are so against the possibility of a series starring the younger generation. Dragon Ball had a kid protagonist up through the King Piccolo arc, and taking into account anime filler Gohan pretty much headlined the show for a good amount of the saiyan and Namek arcs, not to mention the climax of Cell.

I mean, maybe it's because some people didn't like Pan and Uub (who I assume would be the main candidates for this given the way Goten and Trunks are in the final manga chapter/Z episode) in GT? Not saying I did, haven't seen enough of GT to pass judgement on that, but I know it's an opinion some hold. Even if that's the case, though, this is an alternate interpretation of those characters so won't necessarily be the same. Really I'd love a series starring those two and the like.

(Of course this is all moot if this is gonna happen in the 10-year gap, but speculation is all we've got at this point.)

one of the thingsi'm wondering is, will Bra/Bulla actualy show up, surly she should at least have been mentioned in BoG or FnF

of course this depends on when she was born, one guidbook says she's older than Pan and one says she isn't, of course if she was born before Pan she could have been inside Capsule Corp with a baby sitter as she would have been too young to be at a party

or it could just be a case of Toriyama forgeting something again
