Only issue I can see with this is if Toei doesn't have the episodes ready for a simuldub.
It would be awesome if FUNi could Broadcast dub this, though I can't see it. Mike McFarland said that Broadcast dubbing One Piece would be a logistical nightmare, well, it would be - as they aren't even up to date with it, they are at least 200+ episodes behind.
At least they would have a clean slate with regards to "Super", though I don't know how much of a priority this would be for them to broadcast dub, though they are doing it for a lot of new and original titles, and this is one.

Surely, FUNi must have at least spoken with Morishita this week at some point about Super. I refuse to believe that they haven't at least considered the possibility of broadcast dubbing something as huge as this.

They'd kinda have to pay to fly Sean Schemmel out to Texas every week to record new Goku lines (same with Kyle Hebert for Gohan and Laura Bailey for Trunks)...or at least see if another studio will let those actors record locally and send them the audio. But I don't know if that'd work.

It's worth noting that dub simulcasts aren't in sync with the sub simulcasts. There's a good month+ buffer that FUNi requires to produce their content. From what I recall, the average is about 6 or so weeks.

I imagine they could play around with timings to come up with something easier on the actors outside of Texas. If that means delaying the dub by two months, then I imagine they would happily do it.

However, I think the main issue will be cast availability. Beerus is probably going to feature prominently and Jason Douglas is a pretty busy guy! Would they consider a recast for the sake of a quick dub? Who knows!

Personally, I think the likelihood of dub simulcast is exceptionally low. Subs will probably be the primary focus for the time being, and even then, I don't have a whole lot of faith.

I'd be perfectly happy with a dub coming 1-2 months after it starts in Japan, they could basically fly in the actors they need once a month to record a bunch of lines for a bunch of episodes. I'm more worried about a sub simulcast though, I really want to keep up with the series in an official manner as it airs in Japan. I'm pretty hopeful since Funi has been pretty good with that kind of stuff.

There must be a way around it, I think the solution where they fly the VA's in once a month to record for a number of episodes at a time, is probably what they'll end up having to do. Though for the first dozen or so episodes, I'd be more than content with Toei subs.

Though, much like Ajay, I have little faith in them delivering those even. But we can hope, afterall, this is probably the biggest thing to happen for FUNimation since they began dubbing "Z" back in 1999.

I dunno, not doing a sub simulcast is just leaving money on the table.

I hope FUNi don't dub this for at least a year. Forcing militant dubbies to listen to superior voice acting would be great.

How would they be forcing anyone? They can just read spoilers or they can wait till dub is released.

Also militant cubbies? Be mature. Some people want to watch something in their own language

I'm guessing that mindset is why you got a temp ban. As a pure-dub watcher myself, I wouldn't wish for it to not be dubbed in Japan either. We're all on DBZ's side, not japan or English speaking sides.

I like the idea of dub fans not getting their version right away.
So much arrogance and hate for the original japanese version, some people deserve nothing!

Of course, not everyone is on the same boat. They could still get their dub but much later on.

Trust me. When you don't have what you want, you will praise the little that you have.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I'll watch the show in freaking Japanese with no subtitles until the English dub is available. That's how much I love the show lol well I'd at least want subtitles so I know what the hell is going on.

I'm a bit concerned if the show starts post-EOZ, right from the beginning. While it would make sense looking from the Japanese Kai airing perspective we also have BOG & ROF that don't exactly swiftly lead-in into EOZ episodes, too much has been added and introduced, the characters are in the 'middle' of subplots (like the Whis training). The build-up form the 2 movies needs some small conclusion at least and work with EOZ before we even think about post-EOZ period. I would probably prefer if the 3rd movie released first, or the first 'season' of Super took place between ROF & EOZ to wrap everything up and then move forward.

There isn't really anything to wrap up though, they're just training. All they have to do is say that shorty after beating Freeza they go their separate ways to train by themselves to try and improve their flaws.

Regarding Shida, I think he's one of few animators who provides quality cuts. He's very dependable animator who can do a lot of good stuff. While his cuts in Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans have left to be desired, his work in Ultimate Blast and Battle of Gods is spot-on. I don't think his way of drawing ki blasts is a problem. It's different but it works. We won't be seeing much of fluid blasts; he's not going to be the animator throughout all episodes.

I'm hopeful there's going to be Hisada-type animation for Super. His early works in Dragon Ball Z were spectacular, and his cuts showed a lot of weight. Some of the cuts that showcased the weight in Resurrection 'F' certainly showed some promise.

I think we may have to wait until the full staff has revealed before we get the thick of discussion. Much like the film, we don't know who will animate it, but it caused some surprises that some of the old animators from the franchise came back to draw the shots for the film. Who knows some of the staff will be back for the series! With the talented series director, it can sure be done with some amazing stuff!

I still to this day don't understand why sub fans and dub fans can't get along.

If the sub comes out a signficant time before the dub I might watch the sub and then the buy the dub when it comes out like with BOG but if it's like RF where the dub is a couple months after the sub I'll just read spoilers and wait for the dub.

They can't get along because they watch two different shows.

As others have already pointed out, this is far from an acceptable way to act. 'Forcing' them to do something isn't going to make them grow to like the Japanese version any more than they already do.

There's arrogance and hate on the sub side of things towards the dub too, and often it's just as pointless.

Seriously guys, we're at a point where both the dub and the sub are pretty much equal at long last. Is there really any need for this dub fan bashing at this point other than to try and be 'edgy'?

I don't know either after all we are all still watching Dragon Ball so what does it matter if you watch Dub or Sub it's still the same show, what's happening on screen is the same, the story is the same the only difference is how the information is communicated to you (plus the way some things are pronounced like the name Saiyan/Saiya-jin)

people should watch which ever version they want and enjoy it and not belittle others because they like watching it the other way
