What do you hope not to see in Dragon Ball Super?
Similar to the "What do you hope not to see in Dragon Ball Super?" thread. For me I don't want to see:
Being set after Majin Buu and before the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament - I'm getting sick of DBZ being set in this time era. We have Yo Son Goku and his Friends return, Battle of Gods and Revival of F set in this time era. I think it's time to move on to the next time era by being set after the end of DBZ since we can do a lot of fun and creative things in the story line. Not to mention in the end of DBZ, Bluma said it been five years since Goku seen Bluma and ROF takes place five years before the end of DBZ. I think doing Super right after Goku leaves with Uub is perfect in my opinion.
Surviving Saiyans - I think having Saiyans that where not killed by Freeza on Planet Vegeta is over done. After the Saiyan Saga, we had Tullece, Paragus, Broli and Tarble. I think we have enough and having more would be over kill. Not to mention having Evil Saiyans again would just rehash the Saiyan saga or Broli. It would feel like a bad fan fiction where a Saiyan from the past comes to Earth and he can beat a Super Saiyan God as a SSj3.
More Cyborgs/Androids - Just like surviving Saiyans, it's over done. We had #13, #14, #15 and Super 17 in the last 20 years. We don't need anything else from Dr. Gero in my opinion.
Any more rehashes of past storylines - I like Dragon Ball when it tries to brand new and fresh ideas. My biggest issue with GT is that a lot of it based on stuff that we seen before and it's boring when Dragon Ball rehash the same thing over and over again. What makes Dragon Ball so good to me is that it's a fun series with a lot of fun, creative and unique characters and stories. With Toriyama on board of the story and characters, I have high hopes for him on pulling off something good. Even Battle of Gods was probably the best DBZ movie we had since Movie 13 when it came to story telling in my opinion.
More Villains coming back - We had Freeza come back in the latest movie, villains escaping out of Hell in Fusion Reborn and GT. No more please!

More transformations for Goku and Vegeta. That's the thing I'd hate to see the most.

I do have to agree but it won't surprise me if we have one more transformation for Goku and Vegeta.

I don't want it:
- to take place before EOZ.
- to get more colors for ssj.
- old villains to come back.
- bad animation and soundtrack.
- plotholes.

I forgot about old villains returning. Freeza coming back was nice but we don't need Cell and the others return. Not to mention we had old villains returning in Fusion Reborn and Super 17 saga anyways.

I don't want anymore SSJ transformations.
Spoiler:
Re: What do you hope not to see in Dragon Ball Super?
• No more Super Saiyan transformation.
• No old villains coming back just for fan-service/to kill him soon after.
• Don't want to see older characters being forgotten, at least the alive ones; such as Tights, Jaco and Tarble.
Think this is all.

Re: What do you hope not to see in Dragon Ball Super?
This is a pretty obvious one, but I don't want to see the Saiyajin be the only ones getting the spotlight.
Also, no more Tenkaichi Budokai. I never thought I'd say this because I love them, but nowadays we all know who is going to win - Goku or Vegeta. Maybe Oob after his training, but still you don't have that same feeling of suspense that you used to get with the older Budokai. It might be interesting to see one without Saiyajin, but let's be honest, that's not going to happen.
...and by the way, shouldn't this be with the rest of the Dragon Ball Super stuff instead of General Franchise Discussion?

No "Goku always saves the day and gets to deal the last blow and everything thanks him, never notices his mistakes and acts like he's perfect".
No "Goku/Vegeta are the only ones to do something important".
I want Saiyan-Frieza/Cell saga level of character developement & storytelling, less so Buu/BOG/ROF

- Goku stealing all spotlight again, let other characters shine too
- No bratty Pan from GT
- No Goku being jerk, after what happened so many times he should learn to finish opponent when he can, instead of healing him (Cell) or have honorable fight (No Fusion)

Re: What do you hope not to see in Dragon Ball Super?
Gonna have to agree with no more Goku being the hero. He used to be my favourite character, but he always does the same thing. Hopefully Goku and vegeta fly off into outer space and have one final fight. Great ending for two amazing characters.

- Vegeta torture porn. Goku only hope.
- Gohan being forced to fight.
- Plotless storylines.
- Generic parties at __________.
- Beerus, Freeza.
- Time stuck within 10 year gap....
- "genius" characters just getting effortless god boosts.
- Jarring CGI & Crappy Fight Choreography.
- More SSJ forms ontop of SSJGSSJ
- Spirit Bomb & Characters stalling for it.
- Past Villain Retconing.
- Characters not aging.
- Legends From Planet Vegeta.
- Towa & Miira.

Zephyr wrote:The fandom's collective fetishizing of "moments" is also ridiculous to me. No, not everyone needs a fucking "shine" moment. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

The unfunny Mr. Satan, it wasn't funny back then and he wouldn't be now. It was just a waste of time from avoiding to get to the real action.

Kid Goten
Kid Trunks
Kid Gotenks
Have them grow up in height already .
New Colours for SSJ. Red was awful for SSG. Blue-Cyan was a horrible choice for SSGSSJ.
Japanese Pop
Those pop songs on RoF trailer was annoying af. Hopefully we won't here it.
Ssj Gohan
Have him Mystic or in Base the entire show. I have no desire to see a Super Saiyan Gohan.
Goku and Vegeta show
I do not want to see everyone tossed aside just for Goku and Vegeta. Not some random people in universe who appear from out of no where that defeats everyone but Gogeta/Vegetto. I do expect some expansion on the 12 universes.

Re: What do you hope not to see in Dragon Ball Super?
-No rehashing the "wait for Goku" tropes at the last fight. There's been too much of that, and that's one of the reasons I like the Android/Cell saga the most out of all of the sagas(though only in the anime version. In the manga, I consider the Saiyan saga the best saga there is).
-No fusions
-No overshadowing light-heartedness or overshadowing fights. Even though I do prefer the fights, there still has to be a story behind it instead of "Punch kick blast" like RoF and half of the Toei movies
-Have some character independence. Not every fight has to involve teamwork. This is something that made the Frieza saga and Android/Cell saga legendary, some fights requiring one-on-one, physically and mentally.
-No "Goku time"

AMEN TO THAT! Toei must be on dem trees for doing those. The only pop songs I like regarding the series are the Flow version of Cha-la and Dragon Soul, other than that, the rest of them can eat my nuts. What happened to the soul and edge the earlier openings had. I want a song that's good as WE GOTTA POWER.TheGmGoken wrote: Japanese Pop

Re: What do you hope not to see in Dragon Ball Super?
I'm not sure why people are so upset by/against the idea of Goku being in the spotlight. You do realize he IS the main character, right? Other characters get moments to shine, but Dragon Ball is the story of Son Goku. It's not like Dragon Ball tells the stories of a lot of characters equally like Game of Thrones. Nobody expects this type of thing from other similar IPs, so I don't really see why people are so insistent upon it for Dragon Ball.
I think it's INCREDIBLY unlikely that Tarble would ever come back. He is not a good fighter, and he has his own life in a distant part of the galaxy.Dyno wrote:• Don't want to see older characters being forgotten, at least the alive ones; such as Tarble.

Re: What do you hope not to see in Dragon Ball Super?
I want to see more characters because, back in the day, everyone got a fair amount of screen time and Goku got just a little bit more. Now, just about all we see is Goku. Not to mention that there's an abundant amount of great characters that haven't been in the limelight since mid to late Dragon Ball.batistabus wrote:I'm not sure why people are so upset by/against the idea of Goku being in the spotlight.
