So, the Blu-ray is coming out in October. Easily called that one.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Am I the only one who can't get over how they misspelled "Storyboard"?

Anyway, time to start saving up, the English version should come out just a few months later. I'll kill two birds with one stone and pick up BoG too.

None of the original 13 movies even compare to the new movies. They're not even in the same league as them. Sure they aren't fantastic by any means but they make all the other movies look like a decent episode of filler in comparison.

Fusion Reborn was one of the better ones and even that was filled with crap like Veku and Goten and Trunks fighting Hitler.

Yes because lolSorbet and a 1000 fodder soldier fight is that much better, isn't it?

No of course not. A colour of a particular form worse than the fat childish Veku and the the pointless kiddy fight? Lol no.

Of course, 10x better. Very little in the way of childish antics and no awful animation with that one involving annoying brats.

Story boad.

And wasn't 75% of BoG just "childish antics"? Lol. You can say you prefer BoG's childish antics, sure, but to criticize Fusion Reborn while praising the other movies is hypocritical. It's Dragon Ball, childish antics are everywhere.

Also, Fusion Reborn as a whole had much better animation than the two new movies. That terrible CGI ruined the Goku vs Freeza fight, at least Fusion Reborn's "awful animation" was kept out of the main fight.

No not at all. Just the scenes involving Pilaf and pals, with a few things here and there. What was left was good whereas you take the childish nonsense out of Fusion Reborn and what you're left with is still incredibly mediocre.

It's animation was good for the time but is clearly lacking compared to the new movies. While I'm not a fan of the CGI either the final fight was still good whereas Fusion Reborn was no more memorable than any of the other movies except it was interrupted with the silly Veku scenes.

So, much does it usually cost to buy anime movie on Blu-Ray? Because judging from the price on Amazon.JP, it can be quite a pretty penny. But considering that it's the limited edtion they are offering, the high price is somewhat understandable.

My only complaint about these new movies is the super jarring CGI.

BoG contained more fluff than Fusion Reborn...

- Pilaf side plot
- Vegeta bingo dance
- Beerus eating wasabi
- Drunk Gohan
- Pudding conflict
- Big bad god in pajamas making kawaii expressions at the notion of SSJG

Compare:
- Playing around with the concept of fusion by having Goku teach Vegeta, of all people, the dance, and seeing Vegeta fail at it, resulting in Veku.
- Hitler and zombie scenes playing around with the fact that people have escaped from hell.
- A villain that, despite being the embodiment of the evil of the universe, is incredibly cute and quite literally toys with Goku.
- The biggest power level joke in the form of Frieza being revived and as smug as ever, only to see him get blown up by a PUNCH a second later.

The movie is very clever in its humor, whether you find it funny or not. Top that with incredibly awesome moments (SSJ3 transformation, Gogeta, Janemba revealing 2nd form, Goku's farewell to Vegeta, etc). Tis my fave. <3

Battle of Gods did have a bit of filler but most of it was fun and funny. There was more of it because it was an actual full lenght movie whereas Fusion Reborn was only half as long.

Beerus was a very unique villain which can not be said for Janemba who has almost no character and is basically just a ripoff of Buu with a unique power.

The Goku and Vegeta fusion part of the movie could have been interesting had it not involved the Veku nonsense. Gogeta himself had barely 2 minutes of screen time. They spent more time showing how to fuse than the fusion itself.

Well in all fairness, BOG had more than double the runtime than Fusion Reborn did, so more fluff was to be expected.

Yeah, Fusion Reborn was limited by its run time. Otherwise, I'm sure we would have seen more of Gogeta. =P

I thought Fat Janemba was great, and not at all like Buu. He was like a big cute, lovable, universe-threatening Pokemon. <33333

Super Janemba, though, was a Kid Buu rip-off with all the fun stripped away. Looked cool though.

Fat Janemba has always seemed like a much bigger version of Majin Buu to me, fat, child like looking and with a child-like personality. Then he turns into a more powerful, compact and eviler form, again like what Buu did.

Plus their both demons and isn't Buu also supposed to be the embodiment of evil now?

Fat Janemba has the mind of a baby. He'd be something like a Baby Buu. Fat Buu is more like an 8 year old, and the opposite of cute. They're very different. The concepts are similar though: "terror of the universe turns out to look harmless and unassuming." But the similarities end there.

Buu isn't a demon. He's existed since time itself and was corrupted by the evil of the universe, apparently. He's not evil itself, but his pure form is, well, pure evil. Janemba is literally a being created from the collective evil accumulated in hell.

But his name is Majin Buu, isn't Majin supposed to mean demon? Like Ma Jr was Demon Jr?

The 魔 ma in 魔人 majin has multiple meanings and can mean both magic or demon.

"Majin", literally "magical person", is frequently used to refer to genies, which is why Viz translated his name as Djinn Boo, or Boo the Djinn. The Teapot Genie (茶ビン魔人, cha bin majin) from Dr. Slump is another example of the word; Majin Buu was probably loosely based on him. It's also worth pointing out that Buu is "created"/summoned/controlled by a wizard (導士, madōshi). While genies were/are/are sometimes demons, or demon-like, the magical aspect is what's being played at in Buu's case.

In Piccolo's case, "ma" refers to the Mazoku, of which he is a daimaō.
It is unquestionably demonic.
