Vegeta's strange colors

Post by Bardock the Mexican » Sat Dec 23, 2006 1:41 am

There is a in universe explanation for the strange colors we see in the first scene with Vegeta. I kinda had to puzzle this one up and was just about to give up when I noticed that the planet had a strange color scheme (Nameksei-esque) so that got me thinking that maybe the planet's star is a different type then our sun. That could mean that it has a different kind of visible light spectrum than ours. That would mean that the colors would look funny to our eyes which would seem normal under regular light. The green spandex was probably how the blue appeared under the light of the planet's sun/star. That applies even to the hair since the browns are found near the red part of the spectrum. Who knows? Maybe the whole thing is different. Simple right?

Vegeta's color: Something about Toei or the people who did the animation and how they didn't know Vegeta's color because the manga is in black and white. The brown hair is probably a nod to that.

Mr. Piccolo: read the part where he says "In-Universe" explination.

BM, that's not a bad theory on why the colors would look different, but that wouldn't account for Vegeta and Nappa's misadventures on Arlia. It used the same color scheme as well.

I too have always believed it was because of different lighting in space or the planets they were on.

Infact that's simply what I always figured before I found out it was a Toei error a while back.

Why...do you need an in-universe explanation?

So the tiny percentage of our brains that we use can comprehend the magnitude of logic in the complex DragonBall world? But seriously, I don't know! *Conan kicks Duo's rear in Super DBZ* As I was saying, we just wanna try understanding complex things. Like Cell's head nucleus surviving Goku's pointblank Warp Kamehame-Ha, he MUST have Elder Togoro's organ moving technique. o.o

For the daizenshuu beating morons* who would quote their Holy Scriptures to discredit logical arguments brought on by observation. That is somthing that carries more meaning in the long run.

Heh, I've always been able to accept outside-the-box explanations just fine, I guess. I don't understand the need for it to be explicable in the canon. When I think of Cell's head exploding, I think "plothole" and nothing more. Toriyama-sensei made a mistake, now moving on.

Conan, my Piccolo Daimao would totally own you. He is the Great King not just of demons, but of everyone!

Wasn't Cell able to regenerate if a single cell of his survived, instead of just a certain part?
Anyway the spectrum thing was something I thought of myself when watching those particular episodes, but as far as I remember Nappa's colours didn't change or at least not that drastically.
In the end it doens't matter much since in my eyes it is ugly and clearly not to be used beyond that point, until I just recently rediscovered they used a flashback with those colours somewhere in the Buu saga (the fight between Goku and Vegeta) which made it feel a bit out of place.

Quoting many is research.

The thing about fiction is that in the end... the author > logic.
I mean, we're still talking about that series where the moon got blown up and it was no big deal? Twice?

Two moons.
Didn't Roshi and Piccolo destroy the moons in the manga? Keep in mind, both moons weren't there at the same time. The first moon was destroyed in the first tournament and the second moon was destroyed after Gohan's Oozaru transformation.

No, when Piccolo destroyed the moon, that was filler before the Saiya-Jin saga.

You are probably thinking about the hologram from the saiyan spacepod.*I assure you, Gohan is stranded in the wasteland and stares at the moon causing him to transform. Piccolo destroys the moon, then removes his tail and gives him new clothes like Goku's but with Piccolo's mark and a sword. This was all in the manga: DB vol.18/DBZ 02.

*(Is it Goku's or Raditz's? It still confuses me?)

If you're able to quote the vol. number where the above takes place, shouldn't you be able to remember Gohan destroying Raditz' spacepod to save Goku?

He's right Rory, the moon was destroyed twice in the series. There was a third false moon in the filler like Mr. Piccolo said, but the first two times it was canon.
