It's a Word Filter, set by the Webmaster to automatically find and change certain words. "Hercule" will become "Mr. Satan," "Gokou" will become "Goku," and there's one or two others, but I forget what they are. I guess it's half for consistency and half for dislike of name changes.

Just like SSj Kaboom said, it's just an attempt at some consistency. Besides, that version of Goku's name is wrong, no matter how much Japanese merchandise it appears on.

Yeah, it's mostly so the newbies (us) can learn the correct ways. It's not that bad. Though if you want to ask questions regarding other names like Hercule, Gokou, and such, that's a bummer =(

Hmm... I wonder why Krillin isn't set as Kuririn? If T_ien can't be used, it would only make sense to block Krillin, as well...

I love how there's a way to get by the filters, but only a select few know the secret.

Kuririn I know how! The dub I have uses these type of name like Tenshinhan and Kuririn! Kuririn is pronounced Kew-ling. (Something like that)

Turles's filter is one of the more interesting ones, I think. I have yet to see how the redub pronounces his name though.

Well, Chuquita, you got Budokai Tenkaichi 2/North American Sparking! NEO, right? You can just check the Tree of Might story mode. I think you'll find FUNi pronounces it no differently than the Ocean VAs.

It's actually supposed to be pronounced "Koo-ree-reen". The seiyuu just say it fast so it can be hard to tell.
Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

By default I say "Krillin", though. That just seems to be a more universal way amongst English-speaking Dragonball fans.

Deus ex Machina your avatar is awesome. Anyways I think the word changes are good. It makes it so everyone gets called by one name only. Which I guess is slighty easier and clearer to understand. Only slighlty.

It's also a good thing for people who like the dub to learn the original names if they don't already know them. With some of the ones like Mr.Satan though, I think VegEx just doesn't like the name Hercule. And I know Mr.Satan is his original name.

Kuririn is the only proper way to say his name.
Because to preserver the pun you need the Kuri.
I dont believe in changing someone's proper name.
Sure Tenshinhan is longer but it is proper!
