Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Volume 1 Discussion
I have my Blu-ray. I'm taking a bunch'a mental notes about the whole thing. I'll be sure to watch through it enough times that I can give a good review in the next week-ish.

What Region B too ??? Yeah !
Then I dont need a hacked region-free software to play it on my PC !
My DBZ Kai Blu-ray Box is due to arrive on Thursday or Friday if nothing bad happens.
Axelmusic shipped it last Friday and the delivery time for Germany is between 4-7 business days.
The word "KAI" means in the old North Germanic language Frisian "Kämpfer engl. Fighter" respectively "Krieger engl. Warrior"!

Dragon Soul sounds great but I don't like the start of YBCB, I can't make out what's being said.

I think they did the auto-tune effect, since if I remember correctly I heard it a little bit in the Original Japanese or was the the original Japanese Yeah! Break! Care! Break! I don't know. Plus most "real" artists now use Autotune. Maybe they didn't it so it doesn't sound out of place in comparison. Who knows. Just some possibilities.KaiserNeko wrote:See, I'm actually of the opposite opinion. But that's because of the terrible auto-tuning they did to Dragon Soul...MCDaveG wrote:Dragon Soul is acceptable, but Yeah Break Care Break is horrible!
That Dragon Soul is quite catchy and I personally don't like Schemmel's Goku acting or even Anime dubbed in english.
I'm completely against Autotuning, but, I can see why they did it here.

The backing vocals in Yeah! Break! Care! Break! sound terrible. D:KaiserNeko wrote:See, I'm actually of the opposite opinion. But that's because of the terrible auto-tuning they did to Dragon Soul...
When there are no backing vocals, it sounds great though.

No. Autotuning is bullshit. If Sean Shemmel doesn't have the talent, then they should have picked somebody else to sing. There are thousands of people out there, with real natural singing talent, who would probably just do it for the exposure.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Volume 1 Discussion
Thanks to Ishtar, i've made my upload of the opening, with the usual subtitles and credits: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOO0BKF6_xc
Along with the usual 320Kbps mp3: http://www.alabastakingdom.com/EveryOne ... onSoul.mp3
Now that I can hear the dubbed songs in a far better quality, I can see why some of commenters on the previous upload said they hear some autotuning in the video. Because they actually can. While it's not as bad as some of the mainstream products i've heard using it, i'm still very much againist it. I may not be the most talented but if I sang, I wouldn't want it autotuned, no matter how bad the singing. Autotuning makes singing sound artificial and in all honesty, I only enjoy it when the song is either mocking something or creating some amusing (Autotuning the news and Kroze from YGO:TAS was just amazing), not something that should be taken seriously.
This had better be a one-off because frankly, I would get very annoyed if other songs started being autotuned in the dubbing industry. It's just lazy.

Does it? Anyone know for sure if the Japanese version of Dragon Soul has auto tune? It does sound to me like it might .linkdude20002001 wrote:But didn't the Japanese version sound auto-tuned?

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Volume 1 Discussion
Ugh... I'd rather have some slightly flat singing than this poorly setup autotune. Not only does it completely warp the tone and make Schemmel sound like he has something stuck in his throat half the time, but the constant glitching (the really obvious parts where it's autotuned) are the mark of someone having no idea what they're doing. I mean, in a lot of recent pop music this is used a lot, but here it doesn't seem like it was intentional, or it'd be more abundant. This way it's just extremely annoying.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Volume 1 Discussion
I thought that Dragon Soul was pretty good, but Yeah! Break! Care! Break!'s vocals were a little weak. Auto-tune, lyrics, and the actual talent of the singer aside, the Japanese version's vocals sounded much more loud and excited. This one kinda just fades in with the tune and I can't clearly understand what he's saying.Greenman wrote:I'm loving Yeah Break Care Break. Dragon Soul ain't bad either.

Maybe it has to do with the English track being 5.1 surround and I'm just using my TV's speakers. I dunno.
I didn't notice any blatant auto-tune with Dragon Soul. It sounded more like actual singing.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Volume 1 Discussion
I dunno if anyone noticed this, but they didn't show Freeza right away in the first opening for Kai, right? Because, in the first episode of Kai on the US Blu-rays, they have the opening that shows Freeza, Zarbon, and Dodoria for a second or so. I thought it was kinda interesting, but it's not like FUNi hasn't done that before. In this instance, it's a very minor difference.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that this wasn't intentional.

Oops, sorry about that! D: I turned off all the settings by mistake so no one could see it on the website but me. I've fixed it now and a friend confirmed it works so enjoy! Wait, if the Dub is 5.1, would it be possible to rip high quality instrumentals of it? Just wondering.ThegreatPirateKing wrote:Greenman wrote: Thank you, but the MP3 link isn't working for me at the moment.Oops, sorry about that! You mean that bit after Gohan slashes the screen. Pretty sure Freeza was in there.Kendamu wrote:I dunno if anyone noticed this, but they didn't show Freeza right away in the first opening for Kai, right?

I was hoping for this too but sadly, they haven't done since the first half of GT with their dubbed songs. It's encoded the same as their One Piece DVDs.SSJ4 Furanki wrote:Wait, if the Dub is 5.1, would it be possible to rip high quality instrumentals of it? Just wondering.

Aww, that sucks. Oh, well, at least there's higher quality (but not the exact same) instrumental's at other places.ThegreatPirateKing wrote:I was hoping for this too but sadly, they haven't done since the first half of GT with their dubbed songs. Well, from what I've heard so far, this will be something I will pick up.
