New Bulma is more annoying TO YOU, possibly because you prefer Old Bulma.
New Bulma sounds MUCH Better to me, she has less of the "Valley Girl" tude than she had last time and sounds more pleasant to me.
I've been seeing this from a lot of people, and it makes zero sense to me. Have you heard Bulma since the end of Season 3? Yeah, she sounded majorly Valley Girl there, but it faded considerably by the time Trunks arrived. By the end of Android stuff there was zero Valley Girl left in her voice. Rial, on the other hand, sounds like a somewhat better acted Season 3 Bulma. Pure Valley Girl, through and through.
DemonRin wrote:So, in terms of Voices, FOR YOU, it's far worse than the Z Dub.
So, In terms of Voices, FOR ME, It's an extreme improvement on the Z Dub, especially on the fact that all the actors, even the ones who are returning are MUCH better at their craft this time around. Piccolo especially sounds leagues better.
Re-read what I said again, please. I did not say that Kai's voices are "far worse" than the Z Dub. I said that it's effectively the same thing as the Z dub because there's no actual improvement between current quality and the final quality level achieved in Z. I've heard the way Piccolo sounds in Kai, its the same way he's sounded for a while now. Same with Vegeta and Goku.

Interesting that you say this, considering you were the one doing it.
DemonRin wrote:Are... are you serious? Watch Yu Yu Hakusho. In that, she plays a little old lady.
Her Freeza voice and her Genkai voice are Identical. True, she gives Freeza a slightly different attitude, but Freeza essentially sounds like a much more arrogant Genkai.
Yes, I am. And I've got Season 1 of YYH. Watched it just recently, in fact. And it's actually not the same voice. It's similar, yes, but it's not the same.

<Kaboom> I'm just glad that he now sounds more like Invader Zim than Rita Repulsa
<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

When exactly did your hearing problem begin affecting you, you think? I'd get that treated if I were you.

Vollmer's Bulma's "Valley Girl" accent continued well into the Cell arc and her flakey inflection spanned the entire Dragon Ball dub. She sounded like a complete flake pretty much throughout her entire run of the character.

Monica Rial's Bulma sounds cleaner, sharper, and less flakey. She's not an extreme exaggeration of the character like Vollmer's.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

This isn't about the video anymore; despite my urging to the contrary it's developing into yet another dub vs sub "debate." I can see how this is going to end up, so I'm taking preemptive measures.

How in the world did finally getting a dub that BOTH sides can enjoy spark so much MORE disagreement?
