GT is an older series, with only the two 'complete' series releases being the green bricks and older single packages. Funimation always cuts the price a bit when making a "complete" series, so the Dbox would make sense at its 70 dollar pricing being a newer product, even though there's room for doubt.

For example, Ouran High School Host Club, a relatively new series was released at 60 dollars in 2 parts, was somewhat recently re-released at about 60 dollars together. For an older series they seemed to have no trouble lowering the prices for, it seems...kinda weird to just slap them together AND add the retail prices in the case of GT. Another example is the Funimation property School Rumble. The series has seen a fairly large number of releases, and the most recent one contains two 26 episode seasons and an OVA for a retail of $60, when you can still buy "Season 2 part 2" for $54 off Amazon (Although admittedly a lot cheaper from Rightstuf themselves).

If it is just the green bricks slapped together with cement, then it's kind of an odd business sense compared to what Funimation has been doing recently. Still, the room for doubt is there and it really is just that, is always a possibility until it's properly announced.
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

Sorry everybody, no Dragon Box. :(

Funimation is not referring to this set as a "Dragon Box," so to the best of our knowledge, it will be a standard box set that contains both seasons of Dragonball GT.

That is a problem.

With this being a consolidation of the green bricks that might be the death knell for a GT Dragon Box. This isn't like DBZ where the orange bricks were so horribly remastered that people can see the value in the Dragon Box volumes. I'd argue that the widescreen and DVNR problems are the primary reason the Dragon Boxes were viable in the first place. Had the orange bricks been pretty good most people would have settled and that would be that. The green bricks, though, aren't that bad from what I've heard. So if they release them in one package that probably means they won't release a GT Dragon Box for a long time, if at all. Who'd buy it aside from the most hardcore?

That doesn't really confirm anything. It's literally the person saying that it's not called the Dragon Box and then guessing with as much knowledge as we have.

If it was a Dragon Box, it should be listed as one. I don't think it is a Dragon Box now.

Even if it is just a repackaging, it is still confusing; why isn't the price any lower, and why is the run-time the exact same as the Dragon Box?

That's how I've seen it since the beginning, and is why I am purchasing the blue bricks as opposed to waiting for something that, for all intents and purposes, is better picture quality. With the Z sets, the cropping and "remastering" was so awful that a good portion of the series was rendered unwatchable, so even if they had re-released those in full-screen without their crappy "remastering" I would have repurchased it. It just so happens that the re-release happens to be the wonderful Dragon Boxes which simply made it all the better.

With the GT and Dragon Ball sets, the picture quality is already decent, so there is not nearly as big a push for better picture quality, so the Dragon Boxes for those aren't nearly as necessary. I'm pretty sure the Z Dragon Boxes were pretty much an apology for the atrocious footage they gave us before.

But they're saying the exact same thing people ITT are guessing, so why suddenly change what you think just because someone who's more official but still has as little knowledge as us said it? We'll just have to wait and find out more info.

I've suddenly changed my mind because I think RightStuf are most likely to know what the product is.

Lets hope they're wrong. :D

Well, they do say "to the best of their knowledge", which means they are assuming and have no actual info. I still haven't heard back from FUNimation after emailing them and tweeting them, which is kind of odd because they usually reply right back within a day. Rightstuf.com only knows what they are told, and if it hasn't been announced to the public yet, they wouldn't be allowed to say anyway, so I'm taking what they said with a grain of salt.

I hope the "Complete Series" set is really just some cover up for the GT Dragon Box. It would be weird and random for Funimation to say all of a sudden "Hey, let's repackage the 2 GT season sets into one!" Hopefully when Otakon comes around later this summer, they will say the "Complete Series" set is really just the GT Dragon Box, like the time when the Wal-Mart website listed the DB season 1 set several weeks before it was announced and Funimation's statement that it was a "mistake" and wasn't going to be released was really just a cover up.

Okay first off Rightstuff can't release information FUNimation hasn't released(this isn't wal-mart) + the season sets runtime combined is 1520.

Well the dragon Box also included the movie.

So 1520 + 30 + 50 = 1600.

We gain 30 extra minutes because of the next ep previews, I could be wrong but seriously what extra 30 minutes could they add?

Maybe because GT sucks super saiyan ass and Dragon Ball is far more deserving of such treatment?

Sorry but I gotta agree, even though it's highly likely we'll see Dragon Ball in Dragon Box format it's just too early for it considering it hasn't finished it's Brick run.
Besides if anything Dragon Ball would be done in 2-3 volumes.
