Not that such matters. I've got to sneak into your homes and stick a gun to your heads to foce you to admit Kai sucks now...
Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
Toriko is scheduled to air at the timeslot currently held by Dragon Ball Kai, that is a good enough reason to boycott Toriko, unless Toei produce a Kai version of the Buu saga. Dragon Ball Kai remains unfinished at the Cell saga.JulieYBM wrote:There's no reason to boycott Toriko. It has nothing to do with Dragon Ball Kai being either replaced or cancelled. Any issue is with Dragon Ball Kai sucking.
As for Kai itself, it is a massive success. When I looked at the ratings during the Freeza-Android episodes, Kai was always in the top 10, and at times in the top 5. Kai is setting records for Nicktoons and is getting multiple language releases, with more on the way. Dragon Ball generates by far the most revenue internationally for Toei, no other Toei produced Anime comes even close to the amount Dragon Ball continues to generate for them internationally. Toriko doesn't compare, and most likely will never compare to Dragon Ball.
It's possible and profitable for Toei Animation to continue with the Buu saga for Kai, that's what they should do.

It's silly to hold a grudge over another show because it gets the limelight you think another show 'deserves' and that is exactly what boycotting in this situation would be.RazorX wrote:Toriko is scheduled to air at the timeslot currently held by Dragon Ball Kai, that is a good enough reason to boycott Toriko, unless Toei produce a Kai version of the Buu saga. No this is not about a grudge but rather about sending a message to Toei that they need to finish Dragon Ball Kai before they put something else in its timeslot. I don't care about Toriko, what I'm concerned with is Toei producing the Buu saga for Kai.JulieYBM wrote: It's silly to hold a grudge over another show because it gets the limelight you think another show 'deserves' and that is exactly what boycotting in this situation would be.

If Dragon Ball Kai ends (which, for the zillionth time, we don't know if it is doing) then it ends. It's fair game for Toei to stop producing one of their shows where they see fit for whatever reason they see fit.RazorX wrote:No this is not about a grudge but rather about sending a message to Toei that they need to finish Dragon Ball Kai before they put something else in its timeslot. We don't know if Kai is ending and If I were to guess, I'd say Toei will continue Kai for various reasons.JulieYBM wrote: If Dragon Ball Kai ends (which, for the zillionth time, we don't know if it is doing) then it ends. However if Toei stops Kai, it might be fair game for them but that doesn't mean fans have to accept it lying down. All I'm saying is if Toei does not continue Kai (whether it be a different timeslot or as I mentioned before, it might be a one week break) then Japanese fans should boycott Toriko if it airs at Kai's timeslot, not because I want a grudge against it, but because that would send a strong message to Toei that they at least need to continue with Kai. Kai is a big success and continues to be profitable for them ( I can't imagine otherwise, they did continue with the Cell saga)
But the Japanese version is not the only reason I want Kai to continue with the Buu saga, there's the expected Ocean dub and the improved Funi dub. No other Toei Anime series,or any Anime series in general, gets 5-6 different dubs in English.

Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
Toriko is already enough of a success on its own (it is a pre-existing Jump manga series, you know) before the anime adaptation premiers that any haphazard "boycott" of it at 9 am on Sundays will do absolutely nothing and send zero message to anyone.

I know Toriko is a manga series and if it's a success, a boycott of the Toriko Anime (providing it airs at Kai's alloted timeslot, remember I'm not against Toriko personally, what I am against is Toei stopping Kai at the Cell saga) would send an even stronger message, if it's well orchestrated and well communicated.VegettoEX wrote:Toriko is already enough of a success on its own (it is a pre-existing Jump manga series, you know) before the anime adaptation premiers that any haphazard "boycott" of it at 9 am on Sundays will do absolutely nothing and send zero message to anyone.
You have to keep in mind that it's a suggestion. Considering the success of Kai, there's bound to be Japanese fans disappointed if Toei doesn't continue with Kai.

I really don't think a couple of fans outside Japan boycotting Toriko will affect it very much.

Pretty much agreed. Ratings are only hampered or enhanced by who's watching in the country of broadcast.Great Saiyaman I wrote:I really don't think a couple of fans outside Japan boycotting Toriko will affect it very much.

If you're referring to my post, I specifically mentioned Japanese fans.

Judging by those merchandise sales...I don't think they give a [collective] spit.RazorX wrote:If you're referring to my post, I specifically mentioned Japanese fans.

Kai's merchandise is the oddity. The show does extremely well for what it is on television (much better than ground up projects like Digimon Xros Wars, or Pretty Cure), yet the merchandise doesn't sell that well in Japan, and in fact has been in a downward trend for quite some time. Personally, I believe it's burn out, and too much exposure. There's only so many figures of Goku a kid will want, and there's only so many times people will buy a similarly themed video game year after year.JulieYBM wrote:Judging by those merchandise sales...I don't think they give a [collective] spit.RazorX wrote:If you're referring to my post, I specifically mentioned Japanese fans.

I'm late again! XD I certainly do hope they'll still air Kai because I've been waiting for the Buu arc. I'm currently not watching because I dislike the Cell stuff so cancelling the Buu arc would really suck!
Here's hoping they'll continue airing!

So, I'm guessing nothing related to this was discussed last weekend at the Jump thing?

Not that we have heard of. I'm not sure if there is anything about it on Japanese message boards, though.ohaimynameiserik wrote:So, I'm guessing nothing related to this was discussed last weekend at the Jump thing?

Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
I'm thinking once it hits around episode 95 they'll finally announce the status of Kai.
I think they're gonna just have it switch timeslots. All moving Kai is doing is getting rid of the Dream 9 block.
Toriko is probably a good series. Kai will be popular regardless. I'd give Toriko its chance.
Although there's a small chance of cancellation, I think Toei gave rights out to Kai earlier so they could have more money to produce it.
Plus, with Buu being part of the Manga I'm sure they'll keep going. Even if it ended up being only around 20-40 episodes.

Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
I honestly think there'd be huge backlash from Japan if it were cancelled. Hell, they know better than anyone that it isn't over after Cell.
Re: Toriko animated series takes Kai's timeslot in April?!
Toei will be putting Toriko next to One Piece so it can piggyback on One Piece's audience and build up its own following.
Kinda like DBK has been doing, although Dragon Ball already has roots in the anime scene.
Also to the people saying 'boycott Toriko!', fuck you guys, seriously.
Toriko is an excellent series and well deserves a chance to make it big on tv.
