Yeah, I don't think SSJ would make Gohan stronger, it's probably just something he could still do if he wanted. :)

No it doesn't. Although it is not related to Dragon Ball, J. Michael Straczynski considered "Crusade" to be a side story of the "Babylon 5" series but Crusade doesn't take place in an alternate timeline to Babylon 5. The IDW Transformers mini-series "Stormbringer" was called a side story which took place concurrently with the "Infiltration" series and they are most definitely not in alternate timelines.

I'm not saying you can't consider GT to be in an alternate timeline, I'm just pointing out that "side story" does not translate to/imply "alternate timeline."

Not at all.

I've seen all 64 episodes and Special in Both Original Japanese and Funi English with Japanese background music.

In a lot of ways I like GT over Z. I felt GT was DB with with higher stakes. While Super 17 was flat Baby and the Shenrons were highly entertaining. The back of the DBGT Remastered Complete Series box set says it best's "GT is a fun ride."
"Good luck, Kakarrot... You are the Champion!!" Vegeta DBZ ShonenJump Manga Volume 26 p.113

I'm reviewing Dragon Ball! Both the Jap ver. and Uncut Funi Dub! Check out the thread: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... =6&t=31208

That only applies to movies, though. GT isn't a movie, he just refer it as a "Grand Side-story" of the original manga.
Toriyama views anything he didn't create as an alternate timeline. Side story would also imply alternate timeline. Here is his quote:
I take the movies as “stories in a different dimension from the main story of the manga”. I’m entirely just an audience member for them.
The bolded quote would imply he views anything he didn't create as an alternate universe[/quote]

GT isn't a movie though, as the quote applies to movies. Also, wouldn't that undoubtedly make Battle of Gods an "Alternate Universe"? Another thing, I don't see how you got "Anything Toriyama didn't make is an alternate universe" from that comment. :P
"You, your family, everyone, will die. Over and over. Mountains of broken bodies, beneath the wheel." - Lich (Crossover, Adventure Time Season 7, episode 23)

I bet Toriyama doesn't even remember that quote. :P

BoG's isn't quite the same as the other movies though, you've just got to look at what Toriyama says about it. Anyway, GT can't quite fit in with the manga, as it has the evil people keeping their bodies, and Coola makes an appearance (that might be why MightyOzaru is saying it takes place in an alternate universe). :)

I wonder if he thinks the Z anime is in a different universe than the manga too?

I remember AT saying that he enjoy GT, but that was back in 1996 or 1997. I bet that his opinion has changed since then seeing that he wouldn't bad-mouth something that he work on at the time (He did do character designs and other art work for the show).

Do you think he has even watched it since 1997?

Do you even think he's watched Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z since the 90's?
