What's your explanation on what's wrong with the DB fanbase.

To me a "true fan" is anyone who likes something under the banner of Dragonball including the English dub(s), even if you're some girl who really only likes collecting Goku plushies you're still a DB fan. For example I and many others would consider ourselves Batman fans because we like the movies and cartoons despite us not ever reading a single Batman comic.

The problem is that every side of the fanbase has people who think they're right and everyone who thinks differently is wrong when really there is no right or wrong. There's the dub fans who don't watch the Japanese version and bash it just from their first impressions without giving it a real chance and then there's the equally bad elitist sub fans who try and act like they're wiser and more educated than the dub fans when really it's nothing more than a difference in taste and opinion.

Then of course there's the fighting within the dub fans with Funi vs Ocean vs Kai. There's the Ocean fans who never forgave Funi for replacing Ocean in Season 3 and still condemn them to this day despite their massive improvement and there's the people who look at YouTube clips of the Westwood dub and say the Ocean cast can't act without ever watching the Saban dub. And then of course there's the whole Z vs Kai thing.

Seriously? I guess anything can happen these days. I'd personally take even the Big Green dub of the movies over that.

I don't like the title of this thread. The DB fanbase isn't bad. There are bad apples in any fandom, but that's not neccessarily reflective of everyone.

I was thinking of re-naming this What's your explanation on what's wrong with the DB fanbase. Testing to see how it fits now. It fits so I'm changing it. After a few days I realize how bad the title is. Through IMO this is one of the badders ones. Certainly no where close to the worst though.

Really tough question... I will say it like this: As a bunch of people who are exchanging opinions and talking about what they like (or don't) - there is nothing wrong. Internet gives possibility to speak your opinion without any pressure and consequences (mostly, for now). If people are wise - they will speak wisely, if they are stupid... This is what we call freedom.

What's wrong (in my opinion): Lack of initiative. For example: We are talking here about Dragon Ball releases - what's wrong with them, what we want to see etc. but we are doing nothing about that. I think that Kanzenshuu is big enough to be recognized and influential in that department.
