Retelling the story is nice if it's done right. Goku being in High School was a bad idea since the film makers felt like that people would not related to Goku's character. They end up making Goku into a Peter Parker clone with no personality and charm to his character. Everyone in Evolution had no personality, depth and development to them. I would watch Evolution over Superman 3 because that movie was boring as hell but I find Superman 4 better then Evolution. Superman 4 is funny as hell if you don't take it seriously.

That's what I mean. I'm confident Akira Toriyama didn't tell hollywood to put him in high school. Even if he isn't relatable, it's far more hilarious to see Goku tap someone on the crotch out of naivety than to accidentally open a bunch of lockers with a Kiai Cannon.

Dragon Ball Evolution was horrendous, the only thing they got right was starting with Piccolo and skipping Pilaf and the RRA.

Instead of trying to be it's own thing, Dragon Ball, it was like mixture of Spider-man, Transformers, The Last Airbender etc.

Goku going to school? Lara Croft Bulma? 80 minutes long? Power Ranger monsters? PG rated? The whole Eclipse crap? The ugly Oozaru?

It looked cheap, it was cheap, the acting was bad, the costumes were bad, the visual style was bad, the fights were bad, the sets were bad and I don't know what they were playing it but it was a travesty that was like a made for TV movie.

I definitely think they could make a good movie out of it but I don't think they would at this point. What it would need is a Hollywood Anime adaptation that would do for the genre what X-men did for superheroes.

If they did end up making this Bleach movie and it was actually successful then maybe they'd do Naruto (both of these could make good movies) and if that was also successful then maybe they'd give DBZ another shot.

Hollywood goes with what's mainstream or what's been done and worked. If they dropped that mentality, Evolution could've been golden.
