Gag dub? What a disappointment...
I don't know what to call this, unprofessionalism, disrespect towards the source material, incompetence. Seriously, it's unacceptable.
This isn't what dub's are for, they' must try to be as accurate as possible. I'm lenient towards making their own jokes, in regards to cultural gags which most non-Japanese wouldn't understand even if explained. That's about it.

I'll watch the first episode and see how it turns out. I doubt I'll go much further than that, I don't want to support clown-fiestas which they pass off as professional work, if it turns out to be this way.
Maybe it can be salvage as a drinking game, a sip every time Vegeta spouts random crap.

Pandering those that (in their ignorance) claim DB was only successful because of the jokes.

Did you hear the french dub voice of Whis? I don't think he's got that problem there.

I agree with most of things you said, but this is not one of them.
New Dragon Ball series + Old cast back = Success.

The only way I could see Super flop it would be if they brought new voice actors, even so I doubt people would ignore DBS because of that.
Fans would be disappointed but they would still watch it most likely, even if it was just for curiosity (like us, I assume?!)

Like you, I also don't care about our dub anymore. Once you watch the original version there's no turning back, and even so I will watch every DBS episode in portuguese.
I feel like I own them that much.

Stuff like Bills, gag dub, João Loy being a crowd pleaser etc... also bothers me too, but it's unrealistic to think Super won't be a hit because of that.

Of course even if DBS didn't air on weekends, it wouldn't have the effect of 90s, where colleges would close and our country would stop for 20 minutes to watch the new episode.
It's a different era where he have internet and tv boxes to watch whatever we want. Back then, we aren't even sure if they would rerun the episodes.

We had a mindset of "I have to watch it now, or I may never have the chance again."

Super will definitely be a hit. i heard a lot of people talking about this and if you go to SIC facebook page, you can see the big difference between the likes and views on DBS posts and all the other shows. The gap is like Sky and Land.

And let's not forget how SIC will milk Super with reruns that will spread for SIC Kids and SiC Radical. Panda Biggs, the channel that airs Legend of Shenlong Movie on Christmas day, will probably get a shot too.

I had to rewatch it and yeah I agree. Latin spanish fellows did well too.
You were the only ones though.

It's funny because I think all the dubs I saw did a good job with Beerus voice. Except America.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I don't really think it will flop but the fact we're not in the 90's anymore and that, eventually, people will realize Super isn't Z is what makes me think this. I'd love to be wrong, though, even if the gag crap will be what will give that nostalgia boost.

Well, the plus side is that people won't be discussing plotholes or battle powers like we've been doing because they're used to the script not making much sense and will have their brain turned off anyways.

Stuffs like "Bills" shouldn't worry anyone. 90% of the other dubs use Bills and not "Beerus".

You should be worried about the gag crap, that ruins everything. Probably João Loy will say random things as Vegeta too, and that is even worse.

Well, it seems that portuguese people wasted an oportunity to make a good dub for Dragon Ball. But it just seems. Let's wait for the final results.

Also, the making off of the dubbing of the Opening is on Youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZisBIb8HGI

They modified a bit the lyrics to make the opening reflect the series more, but not in the same level of their GT opening, that is originally a romantic song and became "GT Warriors let's defend the universe Hero courage" stuff - maybe because the original Chouzetsu! Dynamic is not a romantic song.

The title of the song seems to be "Alma, Guarda e Coração"(Soul, Guard and Heart), because is what it's said instead of "Chozetsu! Dynamic". For what I can see, they did a good job with the opening. But to have a good judging about it, it's just seing the final results.

But is internationally accepted. Also, his name is based in the "Beer" stuff, but it's not literally "Beers". So, everything in that line(Beerus, Beelus, Beers, Bills, Birusu) that can remember the name is not necessarily wrong or not right.

Other thing, I find another clip, and we can hear a bit of the narrator:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJs4-FNWmKg

It's not Antonio Semedo for obvious reasons, but it's not one of the 4 main actors. So, I think we can say that they called other people to replace Antonio Semedo, Vitor Rocha and maybe Fernanda Figueiredo too.

Even if that was true, it's irrelevant. My point still stands.

The name comes from "virus" but Toriyama thought it came from "beer". Either way, unlike the names you listed, Bills is completely unrelated to any of those two words.

There is a new ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fow-93RWNYQ

I love it, but I'm still disappointed they still don't show dub clips on it.

SIC shared the ad on Facebook and a girl commented on the video complaining they were using Goku instead of the full name. God I wish we had a full change of names like Crystal had, the reactions would have been hilarious xD

Going by that clip, I think they changed Whis's name to Wills, too.

Shueisha romanized his name as "Beers" so that's as official as it gets.

I wonder about the reasons behind the naming sheme.

I've been thinking about the "if the bad dub would hurt Super's popularity" stuff but to be honest, while I still maintain my initial disappointment over the work being done on the dub, what might actually affect the show's popularity may be the bad animation and the bad fighting scenes that were very criticized when the BoG and RoF arcs episodes were released. If anything, that could eventually be the problem concerning the overall audience. On the other hand, it might also bounce back with the tournament arc.

And I'll be working saturday
I'm back!

Lurking around here since 2014. Just an old fan who regained his passion for Dragon Ball since then.

Looks like there are new voice actors like I thought.
Loy confirmed that Whis is done by a guy called Romeu Vala who seems to dub a lot of chracters on disney channel.

Never head about him, but that means they are indeed bringing more people.
Now Fernanda, come back please!

I will be working too. :(

At least for the first episode, I would wake up early if I had the day off.

Oh, Romeu Vala! I heard him in Violetta, he has a nice voice. I thought Whis didn't sound like Feist at all but some parts of his speech kinda resembled him so I was confused. Maybe he's the narrator as well?

I still can't get over the fact he was being casual with Beers :|

Here's the full lyrics to the opening, as transcribed by luna0099 from Feist's recording session:
Esta história vai voltar,
Dentro do teu coração vais encontrar.
Toda a força pra lutar,

Assim nunca esqueças a lenda do dragão!
Heróis vamos ser, a lutar contra o mal!
