Replace Connery with the 007 actor of your choice.8000 Saiyan wrote:No one. I find this whole definitive thing arrogant and annoying.

Connery's actually my favorite, although Craig is also great.Cipher wrote:Replace Connery with the 007 actor of your choice.8000 Saiyan wrote:No one. I find this whole definitive thing arrogant and annoying.

I know other than Goldeneye his other Bond movies weren't good, but Brosnan is criminally underrated. As much as I like Connery, he's phoning it in by the end.
How is it arrogant?I find this whole definitive thing arrogant
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

It feels like people are saying: "Connery is the only Bond that matters, no else." At least that's how I feel about the definitive thing.ABED wrote:I know other than Goldeneye his other Bond movies weren't good, but Brosnan is criminally underrated. I get that but how is that any different from any other opinion or preference and how does that make it arrogant? It feels like people are saying: "Connery is the only Bond that matters, no else." At least that's how I feel about the definitive thing.

Because these people act as if they speak for everyone.ABED wrote:I get that but how is that any different from any other opinion or preference and how does that make it arrogant? It feels like people are saying: "Connery is the only Bond that matters, no else." I don't think they do. It's simply their opinion, like any other.

Maybe that's how I feel. I just think favorite is a better term than definitive.ABED wrote:I don't think they do. It's simply their opinion, like any other.

Re: Who really is the definitive Son Goku?
Not really sure what's arrogant about it. Subjective preference isn't even really at play, here. It's essentially nothing beyond a simple observation.
Strip away all of the overseas localisations, all of the derivatives, all of the adaptations, and there's literally only one Son Goku who is the least removable. One person who is synonymous with the character, in the place where it was made, to the people it was made for. One person who was handpicked to voice the character, by the original author, and has continued to do so even into the present. She was never a replacement for someone else, and she herself has never been replaced. She voiced him as a child, and she voices him as an adult.
There are many voices for the character who appear legally in official productions, but if that had to be reduced to one single voice, for whatever reason, there's absolutely no question as to who would remain. There is a core default as far as the people actually creating the content that goes on to be translated, localized, and adapted are concerned. That doesn't mean other voices are bad, worthless, trash, not allowed to be liked, not allowed to be preferred, etc. That's an absurd misunderstanding of the question.
