Which dub character reasonably matches the original?

Agreed, he captures Trunks' character just as well as the Japanese actor.

Not a fan personally, but it's more to do with the characterisation Funimation's "writers" went with than the voice itself.

Sometimes that happens. On the original He-Man, the main producer was 1/4 of the cast. And Tentomon was one of the main Digimon writers/directors.
