Again. Keep in mind, 2 years is a long time in the DB World. We don't really know what kind of training Goku's undergone.
Didn't Goku say he was getting rusty?
That was just bull he was throwing at Chi-Chi.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

Not training for a few days makes Goku feel that way. Which is why he hardly visits the gang. I doubt he's been out of commission for a whole 2 years.

Like it's gonna be better than training in the afterlife.

What? Like Goku can't use weights while living? Kaio-sama has nothing left to teach Goku. He wasn't really undergoing any special training.

The dead don't have to sleep, eat, rest, or anything else like that.

Food? This is Goku. But he's been dead before and gotten worn out. Contrary to what you may be trying to get at. Dead Goku does not have unlimited Ki.

As I said - I personally think it does fit into the continuity of the main story, and see it as canonical.

Goku was a prick in it (especially to Vegeta),, but I found it interesting how he also showed his more intelligent side - showing that he's not a complete brainless moron outside of fighting. Quite a bit smarter than how he's depicted in most fanfics... Sorta irked me how he hogged spotlight to get the opportunity to finish off Aka.. on the other, hand however - I found their rivalry displayed in a comedic light, refreshing and enjoyable.

After Vegeta eats Kakkarot's pork things - that's the first moment I can think of with Kak flipping out and getting into a fullblown argument over something so petty. xD

My personal favorite parts in order:
-The eating thing between Goku and Vegeta - priceless
-Goku and Vegeta's stomachs rumbling
-Tahbul and Grey's introduction to the crew, and Vegeta's politeness/respectful manner towards them
-Bulma and Vegeta arguing
-Grey's reaction to Vegeta and Kak stuffing their faces
-Gotenks using one of Yamcha's attacks and giving credit to him
-Yamcha and Krillin saving the others from the falling debris

That's about all I feel like adding right now..

I give it 8.5/10.
Just Saiyan...

Was it just anime filler when it came to Goku getting hungry, eating, and sleeping on his travels down the Serpentine Road?

He was hungry on Kaio-Sama's planet in the manga.

Yes, he ran the whole way in one go in the manga. The dead don't need to eat. They can do, but it isn't necessary. In fact, Goku even mentions this when he comes back in the Buu saga.

From the English manga; "I don't care whether I eat or not in the afterlife. But the food here is great!"

To be honest, I think their ki might just be unlimited in the afterlife. I don't remember any evidence to suggest otherwise, and Goku could stay SSJ3 no problem while dead. It was only when he came back to Earth that it somehow used up his time on Earth quicker.

Edit: Looking back at it, Ex-Dubbie369 is right. He does comment that he's hungry on Snake Road.

He also states that he's starving from not eating for 6 months while training under Kaio-sama the first time.

Yeah, so I guess you can get hungry, but don't need to eat.

Similar to Piccolo I suppose.

Vegeta is able to recognize a ki as being Saiyan. For example, he realizes that Trunks has a Saiyan's ki when he arrives from the future. So, in this special, when he felt a Saiyan ki approaching Earth, even though he didn't necessarily know it belonged to Table, he figured that it must be the only possibility.

Thanks a lot I never thought of that. I knew there was an explanation for that instance but do you have a theory concerning Vegeta recognizing Baby? The Tsufuruians was supposed to have been long dead prior to Vegeta’s birth.

Trying to make sense out of GT can be a lot harder. With DBZ you can usually come up with explanations for things that don't make sense, even if you're just pulling them out of thin air. But GT? Good luck.

This special was amazing! All kinds of fun character stuff, especially with Vegeta. Lots of cool attacks from the past, volley ball fist.
Tien probably was not in it, because his voice actor died last year.

Well, yeah. But Kame-sennin's original has also been gone since (ironically) Buu killed Kame-sennin. I realize that Hiroshi Masuoka has a much larger field of work at this point. But don't they also have a new Tenshinhan from Sparking Meteor and on?

That dragonball wil never show again in a serie so sad.
I think if GT had never been made we might stand a better chance. It kind of killed the starting point for Toriyama to work off of. I mean, that's what this special is... a contiuation of his ideas. He would either have to be forced into the concepts thought up in GT (which royaly messed up many things by it's end for it to continue) or just pretend it never existed.

(or explore this gap between GT and then)
