He's done many vocals for FUNimation.
Any examples?

"We Are" One Piece.

Also, the remastering is just blurring it. I see no difference otherwise =/
[quote="Brakus"]For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". Mignogna also does other non-One Piece work.

Anyhow, I'm tempted to buy this set if only 'cause I've not seen some of the episodes and for the music.

(compares the screencaps with the magic that is internet browser tabs) Has anyone else noticed that the cap from the FUNi single is a bit zoomed out?

Still overall, this release does seem to be a definite purchase. I just hope selling my stuff online isn't as complicated as I think it is...

It's an insignificant loss, but how and why? They don't even HAVE film to mess up.

I'm so getting this release, and I actually like GT; so, this is a huge bonus for me. Finally I can watch the Dub, which wasn't so bad other than the music.

I posted this in the Music section, but I might as well post it here too. The lyrics to the English DAN DAN:

Bit by bit, I'm falling under your spell.
Your smile's all I need to see to know we'll,
leave this endless darkness, saying come along with me!
Hold my Hand

Back when you first came into my life,
I recalled a place that I knew as a child.
A special place, one that I held close to my heart.
Won't you lead me in a dance down this Winding Road?
Where Light and Shadow in twain to take hold,
of the thoughts of the one left far behind.

Know that sometimes, I want, to turn, around and see the things, that I've passed on the journey.
But know, with love on my side, with courage and pride, I'll fight, I will carry on!

Bit by bit, I'm falling under your charm.
You'll keep me and all the world far from harm,
bring hope to everyone, take in your eternity.

Even when seems that I don't need you,
just know that I am in love, can't wait to,
leave this endless darkness.
Won't you come along with me?
Hold my Hand

They don't have to worry about GT sucks pre-hype anymore. Nice song by Mr. Mignona, though don't know if I'll pick this up as didn't feel GT that much.

Oh great.

Gah. I have a huge internal debate over whether to get the singles box sets or the season sets. Next episode previews, no alternate angles, and the "GT IS HARDCORE!" logo are really making the sets a questionable buy for me.

You can see the edge of the frame on the left side on the single, so that's probably why they zoomed in a tiny bit.

Also, any chance someone could post a screencap of the same scene from the GT Dragon Box?

DragonBox for comparison:

Oddly, it appears the old release was closer to DragonBox quality :P

I would seriously be suprised if the few people who own them now have the GT dragon boxes as well, so you will probably have to wait.

EDIT:gah I typed this while cory put it up sorry

Is no next episode previews such a bad thing? Seeing as the ep is right after it, there's kinda no point to them on the sets except the last ep of the set.

The picture looks a little worse to me, there is less grain, but at the expense of clarity, however no doubt the encodes are superior to the single releases.

The loss of next episode previews, title cards and tampering with the opening logo is a bit of a dissapointment, which makes me glad I did pick up the single releaes, however I'll be snapping these up just to own copies of the dubbed opening and endings, not to mention a (hopefully) non hideous version of the GT TV special.

I'm impressed and a little dissapointed at the same time.

Ok, so I've noticed one more bad thing about this release. The eyecatchers have been significantly cut. While they're still there, the middle second or so has been cut in order to fit with the dub's eyecatcher music. While it's not deal-breaking, it's still an annoyance and it doesn't sound right.

Bizarro. Huh... *Is conflicted*

I think so. They're part of the episodes, material Toei gave FUNi that're attached to all of the eps; they aired originally with the episodes in both Japan and America, were included on the prior DVDs, and are all around very fun (well, Japanese version of 'em anyhow). And they're really not a hassle to include, if you don't like them, scene-skip to the next episode. Not including them is just as bad as the lacking of the Japanese title cards IMO, because we know FUNi can include them and that they have included them, but they aren't. And that keeps these releases from being genuinely uncut, something I know we would've all pitched a fit about 3-5 years ago.

Interesting notion, Corey!

Was it that way on the FUNi singles? I don't see why they'd do that now that they're including the Japanese music.

I was always happy with the video quality of the GT singles, the bit-rates could be higher, but on a whole they looked pretty good.

It's a shame they tampered with the video on these sets, they don't look bad by any means, but they are a step down from the previous release (albeit a little one).

It does frustrate me that the worst of all three series, gets the best treatment by FUNimation, there is absolutely no reason we couldn't have an English version of Head Cha La, they could have kept the generic faux-edgy Faulconer shit on the tv broadcast track, so everyone wins.
