Actually, I was under the impression that American cartoons are a lot smoother in quality, and while anime tends to be a little jerkier, it generally has a finer stylistic approach. I wouldn't say either is falling behind but they're really splitting off into completely different directions.
About the movie though, I suppose if it'll make some little kids happy, I can be at peace somewhat with the whole thing. Then again, they could make a better movie and kids would be just as pleased I suppose.

*Jumping back to live action movie related stuff as while she thinks the below information in her post is thread-related, its not big enough to warrant a new topic*.
I don't know what it says in terms of merchandise and how well the market thinks the live action movie is going to do, but my local BnN is expecting to receive four copies of the junior DBE novel, and EIGHT for the junior Hannah Montana movie's novel.
Take that as you will.

On hiatus.
Eight will not be enough.Chuquita wrote:*Jumping back to live action movie related stuff as while she thinks the below information in her post is thread-related, its not big enough to warrant a new topic*.

Well, I guess if a lot of children go see this movie worldwide it could make a tonne of money.
Also for the compairison between the Novels, it really means that Hannah Montana branded merchandise is a proven seller. Where as DragonBall Evolutions hasn't been. I remember my local Chapters not even carrying the Transformers Prequel books, but carrying tonnes of The Simpsons merchandise...
Which is why I try to watch every bit of televised Canadian Animation. "I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.
Mostly people under 10 it seems. Many of my friends and relatives watched the trailer, and I can't say they enjoyed it. My 7 years old nephews haven't seen it yet though. On a serious note, I'm glad people outside the Internet are enjoying the trailer.
Anyway, kids are a better audience than grown-ups, they buy more stuffs from the movie.
By the way, Oban Star Racers is indeed a french creation. The 2D scenes have been produced in Japan, but the 3D has been made in France and the scenario and the chara-design are french.
I really dislike most of the french animated series, but this one is very impressive.

Don't worry, it was one of my favourite shows when I was a kid. Like everyone in France I guessBussani wrote:If you can stand the old stuff, check out Mysterious Cities of Gold, another French-Japanese venture. It's the most recent series I don't like, except one or two of them. The scripts and the animation are often poor

In case you don't know, there's supposed to be a CGI movie based on the story and 3 new seasons of Cities of Gold coming out over the next few years. I can't wait.

I have a feeling that it's PG-13. Why?
-We see Mai, Bulma, and Chi Chi's cleavage A LOT.
Jaime said it herself that her outfit shows her "chi chis" Mai's outfit friggin' showcases hers.
-Piccolo nuking a city. And him being kinda scary sounding.
-Goku and Chi Chi make out at one point
-The Leaked script apparently shows Roshi showing a liking to Bulma
-Piccolo's henchmen will make people piss their pants
-Fighting in general
-I think the leaked script was rated PG-13 and the trailer was given a PG-13 rating

(responding to the idea of kids liking stuff marketed to them)
Guys you can't imagine what its like for me watching the horrible Transformers cartoons that are out these days.......yeah marketed to kids....but guess what I was when the G1 Transformers show was airing???
Transformers is to me like Dragonball is to you guys. It's was the hip\cool in show for little boys to watch when they got home from school. It was amazing back then, and when the movie came out in '86 it was the ultimate. The show was pretty good for a while after that but it just changed too much for me.
Now it's all recycled names over and over again for and just nauseates me. Oh well it's a kids show....
Oh yeah and Avatar.....WOW did anyone see the final two episodes of Firelord VS Aang? That was the best fight scene EVAH!!!! Haha sorry DBZ fans but I never saw anything that cool in DBZ..Aang frickin pwned! (style points I mean, of course Goku could beat him....Goku could whoop Superman...and that's just silly overpoweredness in itself ^^)

I think you need to give "Chatku" a chance. He's been given 2 or 3 short lines, and one sounds exactly like Goku in the domestic trailer.Chuquita wrote:I do hope its PG-13. Even though my thoughts on the movie are torn (I like Grampa Gohan, can't stand Chatku) I don't want to see this thing end up as PG; not when all the other "superhero" movies get to be PG-13.

I never liked any of the anime based on Transformers, not even the ones that were Japan's official continuations of G1. But Transformers: Animated has been pretty good really, so long as the art style doesn't bother you.cRookie_Monster wrote:(responding to the idea of kids liking stuff marketed to them)

I still prefer the Avatar fights that were all about stances and movements rather than the flying around DBZ style that happened at the end, but...it was still pretty cool. Using Firebending to fly was an interesting idea.Oh yeah and Avatar.....WOW did anyone see the final two episodes of Firelord VS Aang? That was the best fight scene EVAH!!!! Gotta love that "I fucking hate you" comment at the bottom. The Time Traveller wrote:No, it's a ripoff of Pokemon.jda95 wrote:Is it just me or is Avatar a complete ripoff of Naruto?
Though I've actually wondered why some people even mention it, I watch it a few times and it looks okay I guess, the first thing that puts me off is the anime style characters, but that's pretty common now anyway, and the characters seem really likeable.
I saw that the DVD versions and the TV verrsions are different too, like some girls clevage and breasts toned down or something, and violence too, so I may pick up the first season eventually.
Anyway, this kind of reaction from kids seems kinda normal, Goku is like Luke Skywalker or Spider-man for some kids, he's a hero to them just because he's the main character of a popular franchise kids happen to fall in love with all the time. As a child I thought the Super Mario Bros movie was the greastest movie of all time, I expect this kind of reaction from children for Dragonball Evolution.
KRILLIN'S IN DA HOUSE!
AND HE IS LOOKING MONDO COOL!
SO DON'T BE CRAMPIN' HIS STYLE!
