The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

It's Dragon Ball- how complex can it be? Expect the usual Shonen phrases.Pokewhiz7 wrote:And in Japanese with no subs.samuraix123 wrote:I'm waiting for it to make it's way to the US because I'm a poor boy and I can't afford to go to Japan just see a Dragonball movieDragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:Just curious, who here is actually going to fly to Japan to catch a screening of the movie, or are most of us waiting on the announcement of a theatrical run in other countries?

I'm actually half-expecting a U.S. theatrical run at some point, if only because they added that English language option to the website.

I think the Fox listing is a bigger indication than a website in English. WSJ has an English site and not all those series are available in the US.Chuquita wrote:I'm actually half-expecting a U.S. theatrical run at some point, if only because they added that English language option to the website.

Yeah, but that could just be a leftover thing from during the LAM days; maybe the contract Toei made with FOX also includes anything DB-theatrical-related no matter which of the parties do the work. Even if the contract were only for 5 years, it still wouldn't be over yet.

Wait a second....Fox has their nose stuck in this? could that mean we may not get original English voice actors? also has someone got a link to the English website?

It the same as the Japanese website, just click the "English" prompt that pops up when you first arrive. http://www.dragonball2013.comsamuraix123 wrote:also has someone got a link to the English website?

The One Piece Film comparison that was made earlier in the thread concluded September at the earliest.
Here:

So yeah, it's most likely gonna continue being a long haul til September-October.medama_oyaji wrote:Well, let's look at how Toei is handling the promotion for the newest One Piece film, which is coming this December.
There are a couple OP forums, but here is the thread on Raftel which is a little quieter than the biggest forum, so you can see the updates more clearly without as much chatter http://raftelforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=332
So looks like the original teaser dropped in November of 2011, almost a full year before the film is set to be released. The original info posted was just basically "This will be the first film in The New World!" which is about as much info as "The new DBZ movie will be in the 'Lost Decade'!"
Then it wasn't until MARCH, 4 months later, that a sketch of the villain was revealed at an OP art show in Japan. Here's a thread where that is revealed (it got tossed into another forum section because of the relation to the art show...) http://raftelforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=420
And then it wasn't until late June, practically July (another 3-4 months) that more info about the movie came out and we got the first trailer (which you can see back at the first thread).
So, if you apply that to our time frame...about a year out (well, less) getting a tiny bit of info and a teaser that (probably) doesn't reveal anything other than the movie is coming out. I could see it being September or even later before we get any substantial info or a real trailer.
On hiatus.

I'm hoping Funimation does indeed get this and dub it for us. and if it comes to the theater in English instead of Japanese, you'll watch it and you know it

It sucks I can't go to Japan, it's expensive as hell even with my work. For the price of the trip to Japan, I can go 3 times to USA - New York.

I doubt they will. Wouldn't they be credited at the official website if they were involved in this?samuraix123 wrote:I'm hoping Funimation does indeed get this and dub it for us.
In all seriousness, I'm not sure if I would. I just can't stand the dub anymore. Only the Japanese version pleases me.samuraix123 wrote:and if it comes to the theater in English instead of Japanese, you'll watch it and you know it
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
I think you guys are going to be sorely disappointed if you think that this would get a subtitled theater run here...that's just never going to happen. And even if it did get a dubbed theater run, that would just mean that you'd be getting it on DVD with that subtitled version later on, so I would think it definitely coming over here would be a good thing in the long run.
Not to mention, they'd take the Kai approach to this and dub it properly.

Man, I didn't even consider that a US theater showing would probably be dubbed. I guess because the dub doesn't cross my mind when I think about watching the series.samuraix123 wrote:I'm hoping Funimation does indeed get this and dub it for us. and if it comes to the theater in English instead of Japanese, you'll watch it and you know it
As much as I'd love to see something new and support a Dragon Ball theatrical release, I don't want to spend an hour or so in a theater with Schemmel's voice blasting through the walls. Some US anime releases do get subtitled theater showings, but the odds of it happening for Dragon Ball seem pretty low.

Yes, if FUNi was directly involved in the production. But they never have been and it looks like they won't this time as well. They are a dubbing company, not a production studio.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:I doubt they will. Wouldn't they be credited at the official website if they were involved in this?

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
I just had a thought. With all the hype surrounding the new movie, wouldn't this be a great time for Funimation to finally put out the movies Dragon Box?
Speaking of which, I will be watching all 17 theatrical films in anticipation of this movie.
