Avatars galore, DragonBall and more!

I apologize for the double post but, I was looking around the User Control Panel, and read that the max size for an avatar was 8 kilobytes. How come there are so many people here posting avatars that break that rule? Was the rule changed?

If I am wrong about this, someone correct me.

I think a certain amount of KB or MB is automatically put in place when a forum is made. I've been on another forum where the rules of the forum and the byte limit stated in the avatar screen in your User Control Panel differed on what the actual byte limit your avatar can be.

Interestingly enough, the rules of this forum actually don't state having a limit on the byte size of your avatar:

RULE #9: AVATARS & SIGNATURES

Needless to say, no grossly-offensive imagery in your avatars, please. Keep them tasteful. Also, they may not exceed 80x80 pixels. Any signature images seen will be removed immediately; emphasis should be placed on your conversational contributions, not how cool of a signature image you can create. Signatures may not exceed four lines of text.

Okay, thanks. I was asking because I was working on ceating some avatars out of the "Kai" eyecatches, and they either exceeded 8 kb or they looked like crap. Now I can continue working on them without worrying about image quality.
