This may be my favorite moment in the entire story so far. I'm in stitches.

The only thing that would make this better is if the next page is the entire arena pointing and laughing at Freeza who'd be nigh berserker mode with no way to release it.

While I feel like this is a little out of character for Nappa, I love this page.

Fridge brilliance. End of Z Vegeta would also appear out of character if the last we saw of him were from the Saiyan Saga.

Saiyan arc Vegeta: 'I'll kill you Kakarot!'

Cell arc Vegeta: 'I'll kill you Kakarot!'

Boo arc Vegeta: 'I'll beat you Kakarot!'

End of Z Vegeta 'I'll beat you Kakarot!'

Next special is a Bibidi one. We will see some Boo backstory!
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

True, but assuming that Nappa is an older Saiyan, I can't imagine his personality having changed much.

I can't believe we are getting another special already. I was hoping for a special for Universe 13 next, but this could be good.

Something just occurred to me, wouldn't Nappa be at least in his early 80's by now? I know that Saiyans maintain their youth longer than humans but doesn't look a day older :P

But anyway, I just hope this manga can get back on track after the special, with the plot about Vegetto and Boo. I just know that this tournament won't last and I can just feel a battle royale between all the universes happening.

Good, just in time, too, since Majin Buu is fighting South Kaioshin next chapter.

Yeah, I think around 82 at bare minimum. Salagir really has him pushing the limits of Saiyan aging, as DBO implies that Vegeta was worried about exiting his prime around 70. I'm sure it varies a bit for each individual member, but Nappa is quickly reaching the end of his average lifespan and hasn't had a single apparent change to his physical being...probably another element of the franchise that Salagir changed for no real reason other than shits 'n giggles so that he could have the Nappa we know in the tournament.

DBM has Bardock looking young and Vegeta's father looking like a very old man. You can see that in this page:

I think that there's not much age difference between them (Bardock and Vegeta's father) so the Saiyan accelerated aging must come into full effect somewhere between their ages, according to DBM.

I don't think that Nappa is as old and Vegeta's father, he must be closer to Bardock's age, and Toriyama never stated just when Saiyans start to age rapidly despite having live spans similar to humans, so I'm inclined to believe that there is nothing wrong with DBM's interpretation.

Also, DB online didn't exist when DBM started so its not fair to quote "facts" from DBO.

Oh man! Nappa is a real bastard. While I am a little disappointed that we did not get to see what Nappa could do I am guessing he is either not quite up to par with Freeza's true form or Vegeta simply said he wanted another chance at Freeza. Although Vegeta already stated that they defeated Freeza in their universe it is possible Vegeta did not deliver the lethal blow . . . or being as bloodthirsty as he was the prince simply wants to do it again. :?

First off, let me clarify by saying that I don't think Nappa has to look as decrepit as King Vegeta in that page. But, since he is a minimum of 82 years old, you'd think the process would have started and he'd have a few extra wrinkles or some salt and pepper in his mustache, even for Salagir logic. I never said its impossible to be true, just highly improbable.

Anyway, even without DBO's info, Nappa and Bardock's appearances in this manga are still pushing the beleivability of the general statement on Saiyan aging from the manga and slightly clearer version in the Daizenshuu.

- The average human lifespan is currently about 70 years, though we'll bump it to 100 for arguments sake.
- The Multiverse tournament occurs in Age 794, 10 years after manga finishes.
- Baring special circumstances (like Goku's time dead), all the familiar pure blooded Saiyans at the tournament are at least 57 because they were around before Goku was born.
- Daizenshuu 7 says Nappa was in his 50's when he died, so his possible birth years range Age 703 to Age 712. This means he is at least 82 and at max 91.

This would leave a gap of 8-18 years for them to start deteriorating. 82 is at least easier to believe, but there is also a chance that Nappa is 91. Having him still look the same at that age is about as hard to swallow as most of the crappy villain specials they've given us and Salagirs other pointless power changes, multiplier changes, the Broli fiasco, etc.

It's possible that they join the tournament after they defeated Freeza. I doubt it's Age 794 in Universe 13?

The Vargas are never said to time travel, just pop from universe to universe. The timeline on the main website seems to imply the same thing. If they did travel through time to find the strongest fighter in the universe, they'd probably just end up at Majin Buu's first or second raid most of the time regardless of which one the arrive in.

Maybe different universes run on different "clocks," so they don't necessarily have to time-travel to get to a different time in another universe? Like, say, the Saiyan universe could be "behind" some of the others time-wise, so Nappa is actually still in his 60s or 70s at the time the Vargas showed up and brought him into the tournament. It's been long enough for King Vegeta to look really old, but not quite long enough for any of the others yet.
