I'm buying it if it's in 4:3. I won't be buying the GT Dragonbox if they come out and I won't be buying Dragonball's Dragonbox if these sets are in full screen. The only reason I'm rebuying Z is because the season sets for those are just awful.
That's how I feel too. I'll keep my GT Season Sets, I
REALLY don't feel like buying GT a third time.
These DB sets should be enough to satisfy me (4:3, Japanese, consistent episode release), so the only DB-related DVDs I'll be buying after these Season Sets are the DBZ Dragon Boxes, since the previous DBZ release was more flawed than the other series.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I understand the absurdity in buying two separate releases of the same product, but I'm going to support the DragonBall season sets with full knowledge that a better version may be released sometime in the near future. I get the feeling that any potential Dragon Box version hinges on how well these season sets fare in sales, so I want to help ensure that they do in fact sell.

I'm actually gonna wait now.
if they DO do a Dragon Box, I want that so it's consistent with my Dragon Box Zs.

Same here. And if these are anything like the orange bricks, they will still be available years from now. There's really no reason to buy them as soon as they're out. Unless you just can't wait to watch them.

That is if you haven't sold your bricks yet, I sold all 9 when I heard about this I kinda need episodes 37-42!
I'll support Dragon Ball Seasons because well it has Dragon Ball in the name, and because I want a better product released. I'd keep this release regardless because it's 4:3.

Despite already owning the original DB releases, pre- Dragonbox announcement I was actually considering picking these up, if only for a progressive NTSC encode instead of Madman's shaky PAL conversion.
But now with a Dragonbox release being a possibility, I really don't feel like triple dipping.

They do. It should be shipping anytime now.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I'm definitely going to get it once I see it in stores. I want to have every R1 release of all three series, at least every R1 of Z since the original releases for DB are pretty expensive...

Good to know this release is already starting to ship out. I'm - hesitantly, at least for now - not going to be picking this up, but I'm still looking forward to reading some reviews on it. My friend is interested in this release, so I'd like to be able to relay the good and the bad to him before he does so.

I just got an email saying my dragonball season 1, and well season 2 and the dbox, is on back order. Anyone else get this? Is this normal I have never ordered from rightstuf before. I really don't want it to show up late.

I ordered the Dragon Box from Right Stuf and recently I got an e-mail saying that my order is on backorder from the manufacturer. So it could be that they haven't gotten the shipment necessary to fill out your order. There are still two weeks before September 15, so don't worry

The first reported case of early delivery on the DB sets.

I’ve got my copy of DB Season 1, I haven't watched an episode the whole way through but I can give you my initial impressions in quite some detail:
The packaging is more like the GT set than the Z as the cardboard sleeve is slightly thinner and less glossy than the Z sets. Similarly, the booklet inside uses the thinner and less glossy paper as well. On the spine like the other sets, there is part of a picture of Shenron which all the sets combined will make
There is two page hero profiles of Goku, Bulma & Master Roshi, with shorter profiles for Krillin, Launch, Ox-King, Chichi (or Chi-Chi as its also wrote inside), Oolong & Turtles. The enemies profiles are Emperor Pilaf, Shu, Mai, Colonel Silver & Red Ribbon Army; these are only short as well. Interestingly, there is no profile for Yamcha or Pu-ar. Considering that they play an important part in the first saga, it is strange that they are left out. The discs like the other sets, have part of the cover on each but also the dragon radar which I think is a nice touch!
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: On the packaging, it states how these DVDs are Regions 1 & 4, unlike the Z & GT Season sets. This is not a typo like the Double features though. If like me, you are from UK or any other region 2 country; you will now need a multi region DVD player. I personally find this irritating as the sets aren't the same in this respect but I am fortunate enough to have multi region player.
The packaging states that it is in 4:3 size like the GT sets but my TV is a bit weird so I can't confirm this, if anyone finds this to be untrue let us know! The picture quality is good, the odd scratch but not very often. No music has been changed including the opening and closings so both the Japanese and the English equivalents are on there. Brice Armstrong is still the narrator, and the titles cards are still the same too. Nothing really has been done. The eyecatches are there but the no episode previews, just as with the other sets.
Extras are the same as usual, textless songs and trailers. There is a trailer for Dragon Ball but it actually just the same one that was released for Season 1, all that is changed is it states 'Season 2 coming soon' at the end, how annoying.
It seems to be uncut as far as I can tell, FUNI are making a big deal of it as it states on the back “EPISODES 1-31 UNCUT AVALABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME” as well as having an “over 740 minutes of uncut action” sticker. I can't compare this set to the old Dragon Ball releases as I don't own them.
I hope that is enough to satisfy people till others get theirs too!

I call bullshit on this.
Seems a bit odd how only one person is reporting this.
