Well, it might not be a trilogy. It all depends on how successful the first (or only) one is (or isn't.)

"Teto" eh? Isn't that the guy who worked with Ray in the Shore Shack (I'm sure no one got that).

After going through everyone else's reactions, I'm taking the belief that it just wouldn't make sense for Kuririn to be replaced (or renamed) while we've got a Goku, Bulma and Chi Chi already confirmed. If anything, I'd have thought that Chi Chi and Bulma would've been renamed or changed completely... and not Kuririn.

Hm... maybe he's just there to better demonstrate that Goku's not exactly in with the cool kids in his school? Kaboom's guess about him being killed off and replaced with Kuririn could make sense, too. Though if that were the case, then wouldn't the hardcore (heck, maybe even the casual) fans end up liking Kuririn more than Teto when he shows up and replaces him even though it's made obvious that the writer(s) were trying to make us feel really bad about Teto's death? But I think I'm starting to stray a little far off, now.

As for the mentioning of how Teto might end up getting a bigger role in the sequels, I'm gonna stick with Flashdude's guess about making him more involved with Capsule Corp. stuff. We didn't really get that into the goings on in Capsule Corp. in the series, so that'd be a nice touch for the movie to delve into.
MisterFlashdude wrote:Just not Teto turning out to be #17. :P I think it'd be more likely that the Bully turn out to be #17, considering #17's personality...
Now that would be a pretty badass twist for a sequel to do. Adding a bit more backstory to the minor characters is always fun (as long as it makes sense in some way).

Yes, yes it is.

@DaemonCorps - I think I got it. Rocket Power right? ^_^

And I still say a true to the anime/manga movie would've been best, but you guys' ideas for sequels to this one are creative enough that I'd survive them ok. :D

Yeah, when I showed the article to a (Spanish-speaking) friend of mine, she pointed out for my benefit that the lines about the 'trilogy' also state that it depends on how well the movie does.
It's a possibility, and they're planning for it.
I guess the person's translation on the blog is just a bit misleading.

Ok guys, I just heard some new news...and.. it might be fake. Hell, I pray to Kami that it is fake. Even will probably say that it most likley is. But..

http://www.diario.com.mx/nota.php?notai ... 7aff551b3e

For those who can't read spanish, this is some translations from that link:
To obtain the "Spikey" Hair in golden color which demonstrates a super Saiyan,Goku needs a lot of time...Not when it comes to Justin Chatwin, who is playing the main role in Dragonball.
"With this,it doesn't take much work, because we just need to retouch it a bit,Goku won't use a Wig or anything,it will be the natural hair of the actor.it's already cut and it will be able to turn golden, like on the anime." explained a member of the production cast who preferred to remain in secret.
So, anyone who can fluently read Spanish care to review that link and determine how likley it is to be authentic? Because.. oh dear God in heaven I pray thats fake.

Now they're bringing Super Saiyan into this mess? Vs. Piccolo Daimao? Oh please no, not that.

Sounds inspired by the Bo-bobo parody XD

Final battle between Gokuu and Daimaou. Gokuu lies wounded on the ground, Daimaou flies up for his final attack and...

Transform!

"Whoa! Wait a sec!! Time! Time!! Super Saiyan should be in the Freeza saga!!"

Haha... I got that. Rocket Power right? Anyway... I sure hope they don't throw Super Saiya-jin into this mess. I am a pretty forgiving person, and have been able to over look many of the blunders this film has already seen. But a Super Saiya-jin transformation in the Piccolo Daimao arc? That, just seems too out of place.

Side note: The chorus to "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" describes this thread well.

... Why are we hearing about random nerd-and-jock ocs and still no sign of our shiny-heded monk? And why are there nw rumors about ... SSJ? In a Piccolo move? *dies*
On the other hand... if they're actually suggesting that there might possibly be a trilogy... clearly someone is confident in what's going on and there's a lot we aren't learning from this trickle of information. Which, if I may interject opinion, is a pretty sour trickle. Brown haired Goku, random Highschool OCs, and... urm... Crap, I hate it when I set up three-part series and only have two things to say. Ok, so that's not so bad, but still... they're not encouraging!
I think we should be more concerned about the people behind PR rather than the content of the movie itself, considering the information we've been getting.

Chuquita wrote:Here's my most optimistic prediction for "Teto".

What if he's just the equivalent of "Molly" from Sailor Moon? (I don't know her Japanese name) You know, the high school friend who shows up just to showcase the main character as having a "normal" life before they get/learn their powers, then disappears into the background and the other super-powered friends of the main character take his place?
Ah, you're referring to Naru. She was actually featured prominently in the first two metaseries (Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R), but dropped off the map afterward. She only appeared twice in Sailor Moon S, and then one final time in an episode of Sailor Moon Super S, and after that she was gone without a trace.

This Teto-character could be as you said; someone that plays the role of best-friend until cooler, more powerful friends show up and kick him to the curb, or he ends up dying or is killed by Piccolo, and it serves to ignite Goku's resolve to defeat him.

The director hasn't even read the manga?! Does Toriyama-san have any say in this at all?

SSJ? Wow, I'm really hoping that that's just some kind of misconception from the crew or article writer. I mean trying to see it from the casual fans' perspective, I'm sure anything talking about Goku "powering up" would automatically lead to them assuming that he's going SSJ.

Maybe they're gonna do something like what the 10th Anniversary movie did and hinted at the SSJ state, but never actually went that far. They had the hair rising up, the aura going crazy and the debris rising up... but no actual transformation.

Not to state the obvious, but Super Saiyajin was the goal reached from the Freeza Saga, not the King Piccolo one.

But I guess if they were trying to incorporate SSJ into this movie, it would make sense to some extent, since Piccolo also brings up the thing about his Saiyajin heritage. So it could be something like right when Goku transforms, he freaks out because he thinks that he's turned into something horrible and evil but can't do anything to stop himself because the transformation completely took over him (kinda like what happened when Raizen took over Yusuke's body during the Sensui fight in YYH). As long as it's something like that, I guess I could deal with it.

But if they made it so Goku could completely control himself in the state, then I think that'd be a tad too lame for me.

EDIT: From what I could read from the article, it looks like the translation's pretty accurate. Though since I had to go to wordreference.com to look up a bunch of those words, I can't say for sure. Augh, where's Bardock the Mexican when you need him?

I always wonder that too?

@SSJ kaboom
With all due respect, dude, this freaking out and claiming to want to bomb Fox and all that (hope you're joking about that one)
Well to be 100% honest, I am not bad person at all, BUT when something pisses me off like this, I became literally crazy, so it is not the fact, but it is NOT a joke either.

I am not some stupid kid, fu*kin around! this should be considered at least half seriously.

Although I really admire your optimism, and I can not believe, that after this PARODY of DB you still think its good...its unbelievable how some people can go far with generalizing things.. I wouldn't wonder if someone make a game that have no EVEN ONE symbolic connection with DB, and just put names to characters like "Goku", "Vegeta" etc.. and you would say "Its ok, its pretty much like DBZ"
DESTROY ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, that might work. If they had to have SSJ in this movie, then I think something like this might work.

Goku goes SSJ, and goes crazy. He attacks and kills Piccolo. However, he can't control himself, and continues attacking and destroying stuff. Now, it was revealed that Roshi might die in this movie. So, Roshi jumps in and Goku kills him. The shock of killing his mentor is enough to reverse the transformation, and Goku goes back to normal.

This would allow Goku to go SSJ during the first movie, but not control it. He could learn to control it when fighting Freeza. And since he can't control it, that would give him the excuse not to go SSJ when fighting Vegeta. He's scared that he'll lose control of himself, but will find himself forced to transform against Freeza.

Maybe they'll do a GT thing, where Goku goes freakishly into Oozaru, then that leads to SSJ.

EDIT: I would love to see Oozaru in this movie. :D

This movie is a bit different from the original story, yes. However, I am a Sailor Moon fan. I like the anime. I like the manga. I like the live-action TV show. I like the stage musicals. They are all quite different from each other, yet still good. This movie being different doesn't necessarily mean it'll be bad.

And maybe it's the Americans' revenge for the Japanese live-action 70's Spider Man. :P

Oozaru Goku vs Giant Piccolo?

Goku didn't appear to have a tail in the picture of him on the set, did he? Either he never had a tail, or his tail was already removed. I hope it's the latter. (Or the tail's just not visible from that angle.)

Going back to this topic. (It's less than a day old, so I don't think it would be considered to be necroposting.)

I never understood *why* Dr. Gero chose to turn those who would become #17 and #18 into #17 and #18. I mean, they clearly didn't want it, and he seems to have chosen them at random. Couldn't he have picked somebody who actually *wanted* to become a cyborg?

But, assuming he wants revenge on Goku (why? maybe he makes robots for Piccolo, or maybe Goku "hurt" in some other way), then it would be more fitting for him to use Goku's best friend.

Again, I have no evidence, so don't take my word as gospel.
