I loved hearing Frieza and Cooler squabble. Always wanted them to and I get to finally hear that.
Loved the idea of them fighting Santa, so epic and it actually works. Best Christmas abridged movie so far hands down.
The animation style is just bad compared to the old. It's pretty weird hearing the voices with this animation style. Nothing you guys can do there.. I lol'd when Gohan got his gift and wasn't on the naughty list.
Excited for anything else db abridged related. Always gets me out a slump watching these. Great work as always Teamfourstar.
A lot more fourth-wall breaking/meta humour than usual for TFS. The space-time continuum bit and the Super pop-up for starters, but also the joke about Goku calling people "minor characters". That could have been lifted straight out of Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged.
Also, implying Gohan is a minor character? Have we become so jaded?
So wait...if this was Evil Santa...then who was the Santa in Tree of Might ?

The epic tale of how Sean Schemmel blocked me on Twitter:
I tagged him in a thread explaining how his performance wasn't rerecorded when FUNi were redoing parts of the early Z dub for the Orange Bricks.
He thought I was misrepresenting his work by saying he wasn't in something he was in.
I explained how that wasn't the situation & did a bit of a sarcastic kinda thing involving the rerecordings FUNi did for the Z dub to show how stupid that was.
He said they didn't record him & not use his recordings.
Blocked & he deleted his response tweets to me.
???
Profit...?

"He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."
Santa fell into the darkness and lost his light. Very tragic.
Interesting how TFS chose to make a new Christmas special that now includes Vegeta as well as their modern trademark humor. Does anyone think this is their last one or can another one be made? Honestly, the only movies I can think of are:
Fusion Reborn - Maybe call it "Christmas Reborn" and have the ogre who turned into Janemba be an elf manipulated by evil. You can even have King Yemma revealed to work part-time as Krampus.
Wrath of the Dragon - Maybe call it "Christmas of the Dragon" and have Hoi also be an elf who wants revenge on Santa or something, I don't know. And Hirudegarn is a toy gone wrong while Tapion is a good elf? Ah man, I'm having too much fun.
Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return - Call it "Goku and His Friends Return for Christmas" and have Abo and Cado once again be elves (Wow, this list is very elf-themed) while Tarble visits for the holidays - paying off Vegeta's mention of him in Plan to Eradicate Christmas. (Maybe by the time this would release, Funimation would've finally dubbed it and given it their own title)
Yeah, now that I think of it - Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return is the most likely because it features a huge gathering of all the characters and lends itself most well for a Christmas special. I think TFS prefers Plan to and Yo! Son Goku as the basis for Christmas specials because they aren't as huge as Fusion Reborn or Wrath of the Dragon, which makes them free for creative reinterpretation. I just don't know when TFS would ever get to Yo! Son Goku unless they skip and show the future with the special. I have to say, it'd be nice to have Goten, Trunks, and Videl included in the Christmas special so I think it might be likely. Maybe we'll get something like this when TFS starts the Buu Saga? A trilogy of TFS Christmas specials would be pretty cool....

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.
dbzfan7 wrote:Loved it. Though I thought Gohan was a good boy deemed by Santa, so why was he pummeled?
s version of Santa's the Santa robot from Futurama, that's why.
I mean Zoidberg was spared by Robo Santa. He got a gift for being good, and Santa said he wouldn't kill him. Then Zoidberg ends up saving the day by electrocuting Santa. But for all intents and purpose, Zoidberg was free to go. Unlike Gohan who for some reason ended up on the shit list, even though he was told just a moment ago he was on Santa's nice list.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

Oh........ Well, there's always fan-fiction. Nah, but seriously - I'm kidding. Honestly, didn't expect a reply so I appreciate it. Good job on the special and I look forward to all your TFS and personal efforts! It's admirable when DB fans take it upon themselves to put their own mark on the franchise and that's exactly what you and the TFS team have done.
In all seriousness though, I do hope Santa Claus ends up being ok in the future, despite what it all looked like. Real life is already depressing enough as it is

Just waiting for this to return. I cant wait to see Cell's reaction to Gohan going SSJ2.
And the Buu Saga is bound to be fucking hilarious. Ik after the DBZ arcs are done they'll cut into Super. But I'm honestly also kinda hoping they do a few skits for GT as well.

They won't. They have no plans on abridging Super or GT. Their idea is to finish all Z episodes and movies and then later abridge original DB arcs in movie format.

I think there's (or was) something going on that'll prevent them from doing Buu let alone anything else.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
