I didn't say it was terrible, just that it was noticeably inferior. What some were saying about Gogeta jr's art, about Vegeta's face being wrong, I feel it was unfair and exaggerated then, but not so much on this page. Vegeta's faces in this page aren't so hot.

And no, I don't think he was serious:

- he said he wouldn't mind holding back;
- he wasn't sweating in the beam struggle;
- he is now stating that this Trunks would give serious problems to Cell at the Cell games but he doesn't state that he would be able to defeat him, which places Trunks's power somewhere close to Perfect Cell but still inferior to Perfect Cell or just comparable, and we know that SSJ2 Gohan was stronger and faster at the Cell games than Cell and we also know that SSJ2 Vegeta was even stronger than that at the Buu saga. And this Vegeta has 20 years of training on top of that.

So, I believe that he's starting to get serious. The beam struggle was perhaps him being a little serious but now he will fight more seriously.

I believe that the fighters have 30 seconds to return to the ring.

They can't be out of sight for more than 30 seconds so its advisable that they stay close to the ring.

It looks like Vegeta is going to finish the fight in the next page. I mean, he goes and states on the last panel that he has both speed and strength like he is going to finish Trunks off.

I'm guessing whatever Vegeta is going to do to finish the fight will be the bottom of the next page. The following page will be Trunks losing and his interaction with Vegeta over it. Next will be the "reset", and then we will end with the next fighters being announced for our cliffhanger till the next main chapter.

I interpreted it as Trunks giving up. Implying that kick was too powerful and he feels that he needs to throw in the towel.

Nice one Trunks. Didn't expect you to buff up even more for pure defense. Too bad your dad is just too strong...

It's amazing how quickly Trunks can go back and forth through the grade forms.
