I was gonna say that Yamcha seems to be Artificial Human #17 like in Universe 9, but then I remembered that they are going to get killed by the Saiyans, so he should be just a human.

My take: When Kakarrot is rampaging across Earth in U9, Dr. Gero gets him to make a Faustian pact, and Yamcha is "Upgraded" by Gero, becoming #17, fighting against the saiyans, but bound to Gero.

Eh, the art's not THAT bad. It's not as good as the main story, but at least it's not the Bojack special. My standards for acceptable art in the specials can't possibly go any lower after that one.

Maybe Capsule Corp is the one making the Androids. Considering the logo on Yamcha.

The Bojack special's art was of a different style, so it's more understandable. This just looks horrible. Yamcha and Tenshinhan are off-model and the latter's wearing OOC clothing.

True...I can see your point, but I still think I can work with this better than that look, at least for now. I mean, I didn't even notice Raditz's abnormally large forehead on the previous page until someone pointed it out...granted, now I can't NOT see it.

My main problem here is how stiff it all looks, rather than it being off model at all. And as for Tenshinhan's clothes, it's OOC for the version of Tenshinhan that we're used to, but who knows how things played out in this version of the universe. What I'm most curious about for him is what seems to be scars on his lower arm...those weren't there in the main story were they?

They should delete all the specials and put them in text format. It would be much better overall and less work on their part too.

Not all specials are that bad. Take the second Broli special for example. The art and models are pretty good. It's almost as if Toei actually drew that special. The details are pretty good. Each panels corresponded to each other very well. I have no complaint about it.

Let's not forget about the Bardock special too.

That would defeat the point of the specials, that is to stall for time (so that Gogeta Jr can do the main story more slowly or take a break) while still providing some kind of story related to DBM in comic format.

In text format it would only take like, 3 or 4 pages at most.

The faces don't look too bad or off to me its just their poses in the second panel look a bit stiff.

My only complaints are Tenshinhan's clothes and Yamcha's head in the second panel. I can't tell if it's the hair climbing higher than it should or the expression, but it unnerves me.

Regardless, how would Tenshinhan and Yamcha ever meet each other if it weren't for Goku?

It's possible that Master Shen and Roshi had to have their students team up to stop Kakarotto? I think this special should have started off with Kakarotto as a baby and we see him start destroying stuff as a kid until he is a adult.

But if it weren't for Goku, the likelihood of Yamcha ever leaving the desert is kind of slim, IMO.
