It's been shipped to just about every store, but the street date isn't until September 15th. FYE always breaks street dates.

That explains it then. I'd have bought it, but like hell I was paying $50 for it.

They do have that 10% off-everything-for-a-year deal. It costs somewhere around $20 but it pays itself off eventually if you buy a lot of stuff there, so with that it comes to about $45. They're pretty much the only used DVD store around here I know of. A while ago I even found The Critic box set there for about $20. But I digress...

Even then, that's still way too much considering the prices online. :p Their used prices are fine, but there's no way I'd ever buy any new DVDs unless they were on some sort of sale.

It turned out alright, the picture is cleaned up quite well, getting rid of a lot of the grit and color fading seen in other releases. Aside from the usual distaste for the widescreen cropping, which I share, this set is fully acceptable in all other aspects. It thankfully doesn't seem to have any of the issues found in the early Z sets, which is great. I'm glad they worked the kinks out with Z before they did the original series. What can I say? After watching Z so many times, I enjoy the comedy and development in DB a lot more now.

I feel sorry for your TV and DVD player that they are being misused by someone who apparently can't set them up properly.

Yes, it's likely a widescreen LCD or HD TV on the "Zoom" setting...

Well, you didn't really say that. You implied he was an idiot, but gave no reason. If he is, in fact, an actual idiot, he's not going to get "adjust your TV's preset aspect ratio" out of your "learn how to use your TV," since there's more to it than that.

If he knew how to set them up properly, as I said... then there wouldn't really be a problem now then would there?

Dude, seriously, I hate when people think others are dumb when they can't do something high-tech. That's not right.

Are we gonna stop needlessly being dicks to each other, or am I gonna have to lock another good FUNi release thread?

ANYWAY........

I have had this set for a week now, I think, and I have a few questions.

Did anyone's set freeze on the episode "Oolong the Terrible"?

Also, On one of the 21st Budokai Episodes the video gets stuck on the Budokai Sign for a few seconds but the sound is of people fighting, it's during a last episode recap. I'm not sure of the episode number.

I know how to use my equipment, and don't appreciate poor assumptions being made. Do you have the set yet? I do, and it displays default in widescreen. Changing aspect ratios does not change things.

I have a 52 inch Samsung 1080p LCD, and an HD-DVD Player and Playstation 3 hooked up with HDMI cables as sources. 120hz HDMI cables no less. I guess I know a little something about what I am doing.

So, someone who has the set already too, and also has the original DVD releases to compare with like I do tell me I am wrong. I'd rather it come from someone who knows what they are talking about rather than a smart mouth kid.
