That's possible. Other namekians I'd be interested to see. Other saiyans would be boring for me though. ^^;
On hiatus.

I agree, it probably isn't a throwaway line.Chuquita wrote:It is tropey, but I can't see any major reason for designing the multiverse the way they did if they don't plan to show at least one or two "counterparts" of the main cast. Why bother with six pairs of "twin universes" at all? Why not just have each universe be a completely different place? I dunno. I could be wrong, but the whole set-up seems so overly complex that it's just got this Chekhov's Gun feel to it, imo.
I think the reason for twin Universes is to create a struggle between our pair and another pair. The reason being, we have something the other pairs haven't; maybe the Dragon Balls(Namekians).
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
I'd like to see Katatt's counterpart.
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Then why having Whis and Beerus' counterparts?Noah wrote:I don't think we'll see U6 versions of our characters from the main universe, it would be so cheap IMO
The way it is set-up it is GUARANTEED we will see our characters' counterparts.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
By having the twin universes, they can do the 2 Earths plot for the Champa arc, they can save time from exploring all 12 universes (no reason to learn a lot about U1 if we have already learned a lot about U12 for example), and they can bring new & strong Namekians, Saiyans, Makaioshins, etc, since there is no room for them to exist in U7 anymore. I don't think we will see alternative counterparts of U7 characters, I think they will just have same planets & races, but different people.Chuquita wrote:It is tropey, but I can't see any major reason for designing the multiverse the way they did if they don't plan to show at least one or two "counterparts" of the main cast. Champa & Vados are not Beerus' & Whis' counterparts, they are siblings, just like Goku & Raditz, Vegeta & Tarble, Gohan & Goten, etc.emperior wrote:Then why having Whis and Beerus' counterparts?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
They referenced each other as "twins" but then referenced the similar universes as "twins" too. Maybe we'll just get the counterparts always identified as "twins".DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Champa & Vados are not Beerus' & Whis' counterparts, they are siblings, just like Goku & Raditz, Vegeta & Tarble, Gohan & Goten, etc.

Beerus and Champa are stated to be twins. Whis and Vados are just said to be brother and sister, with Vados being the older of the two.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
The thing I'm most curious about is: since they're sets of siblings, which universe did they originate from? Are Beerus/Champa from Universe 7, but Champa just decided to / get recruited to go be the God of Destruction for 6? Are Whis/Vados from any particular universe, or is their race something more grand, born "outside" (so to speak?) the universe designations...?

Aren't both universes twins ? maybe their not blood related but a mirror of each other.VegettoEX wrote:The thing I'm most curious about is: since they're sets of siblings, which universe did they originate from?

Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

No they are blood related. Only Champa and Beerus were revealed to be twins, Vados and Whis were not. Besides you wouldn't call a doppelganger a brother or sister or would you? You'd call it how it is.sintzu wrote:Aren't both universes twins ? maybe their not blood related but a mirror of each other.VegettoEX wrote:The thing I'm most curious about is: since they're sets of siblings, which universe did they originate from?

I hope no one in Uni 7 also exists in Uni 6. If Earth is so different, every other "twin" race should be different in its own way.

In Remember the Titans, that one guy says "can't you see the resemblance? He's my brother," when referring to that other guy.
Fraternity brothers, different brotherhoods, friends that you call brother or sister... The word isn't always referring to a literal blood relation.

For what it's worth, I believe Cell referred to Piccolo as his "kyōdai" ("sibling")... but what was being inferred there was pretty clear.
I'd have to go back to the Japanese text here myself, but I get the impression that Beerus/Champa and Whis/Vados are being referred to as actual siblings.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Sure okay but they did use the word twin as well to describe Champa and Beerus' siblingism, I think that is stretching the whole "you can call someone brother without being related" thing and the way they acted makes it seems so they're actual siblings. Also didn't Vados say the word sibling directly and not sister?
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
I think the Manga was pretty clear, Champa and Beerus are literally twins. Vados and Whis are brother and sister.
If it was the other way around, then Champa would be named Beerus and Vados would be named Whis. That's my thought, I could be totally wrong.

Whis and Vados can still be twins, actually. In Japan the first to come out is still the Onee-san/Onii-san.
