My guess is that it's either a new movie or Xenoverse 2. I'm happy with either.

Given how much money ROF made, a new movie makes sense. As long if Toriyama keeps on writing them, I will be happy.

Whilst I'd love to see a sequel to Xenoverse being announced (and I'm actually a little surprised the next major console game hasn't been teased yet), I have a gut feeling that they'd use a different platform for that. I could very easily be wrong, though. They've used V-Jump as a launchpad for everything and anything in the past.

I'd be shocked to see them announce another film in the same year as one having been released. I know that RoF was, itself, a fast-tracked production based on Battle of God's worldwide earnings, but this would be an unprecedented level of crazy.

They're giving One Piece a winter animation special this year, as opposed to the recent routine of just doing one a year in Spring/Summer. I wonder if we'll get a reanimated Episode-of-[Insert Character Here]-style special for Dragonball.

I want to believe that Toei seriously wouldn't do a movie version of the Uni 6 arc. I really do; but I can't fully do so.
I understand them doing TV versions of BOG and F to buy themselves time; but doing a movie version of a brand new TV arc while that TV arc is airing would feel useless. @_@

If they have to do a movie, if it does end up being a movie instead of Xenoverse 2, I desperately hope it's something with its own plot.

Another movie means Super will have another bland 10 episodes wasted on another movie adaption. No thanks. I'd also rather not get spoiled on Universe 6 stuff in a movie just to see the same thing in Super.

Man, they should really make a movie set far in the future or something, or at least after the end of DBZ.

That's why I want it to be Xenoverse 2; or hell, just a new Dragon Ball game in general. Doesn't even have to be Xenoverse 2. Toei's already strapped for employees as it is. Please just let it be another videogame, VJump!! Just not another movie that rehashes an arc the way the arcs have been rehashing the movies. @_@

I dunno, if they do a third film based on the Universe 6 stuff, then even if we're looking at a Spring release date (which would be nuts, and given the lack of the usually bloated promotional lead-up) then the anime would already be well into that story.

A film adaptation of Jaco the Galactic Patrolman would make a lot of sense and I would be totally happy with that. If not a film then maybe an OVA (but hopefully a film).

Yeah, as assuming the arc starts in late January in Super, they'll announce a movie in December and premiere it like three months later.

When these magazines say "huge announcement" it's literally anything related to the franchise. One Piece had 3 or so this year, and one of them was the series' inclusion in the Guinness book. It could be a game, some Heroes thing, the U6 arc in the tv series with some new designs, toriyama working on a new story, or even something out of the blue like novels. Don't set up expectations too high.
The movie thing was just coming from a random twitter user making guesses.

Looks like it's basically telling you to find out what happens next in the upcoming issue. The red portion just says that V-Jump's January release (in just a few days) will be "oversized".

Even if a movie gets announced, Universe 6 arc will be already happening in Super in 2016. Besides the way the Universe 6 arc is shaping up it'd be very difficult for them to do it in a movie run time hence why decided to make a new series.

That's kind of my assumption as well, even before we knew anything about the arc other than 'going to another universe'. With the movies doing so well and being less of a continual commitment than a show, it seemed like they had to be switching to a show for a reason, and that seemed the most likely one to me.

Well, other than maybe wanting to not work with Fox anymore on things.

Well, that's seriously annoying. Not only because Over8000 was doing a great job, but also the fact Toei doesn't offer any legal alternative, and in this day and age no one is willing to wait months or years to watch a show.

That said, i'm sure another group will pop up in its place. And i wonder why they didn't go after DragonTeam?

Maybe because DT is seriously behind the current episodes, so they wouldn't be worth the hassle?
