I really hope Beerus gets a good humbling at the hands of Frieza, as I've never been a big fan of his character. He's not even a very good god of destruction when you think about it, he spends most of his time sleeping and when he actually is awake he only destroys planets when he's having a temper tantrum. I say either this guy got the job because there was some major cosmic crisis eons ago that forced a desperate Whis to setttle on him as a pupil, or just plain old nepotism.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
A good god of destruction only destroys things very rarely and when there's a need for a bit more destruction. It makes perfect sense for him to be out of picture and sleeping most of time. If he was almost always on the job, everything would have been destroyed long ago.Barunks wrote:I really hope Beerus gets a good humbling at the hands of Freeza, as I've never been a big fan of his character. If the whole idea is that the destruction of an old world is followed by the creation of a new one, wouldn't it be better to maintain the cycle if it were regular and planned rather than rarely and randomly just because Beerus is in a bad mood?
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
The job of the God of Destruction is to maintain the balance in the universe, so of course he's going to sleep a lot. If he was awake all the time then there would be no balance because everything would've been destroyed.Barunks wrote:I really hope Beerus gets a good humbling at the hands of Freeza, as I've never been a big fan of his character. I'd say that does happen seeing as the Kai's and Beerus get together and talk every 1,000 years.Barunks wrote:If the whole idea is that the destruction of an old world is followed by the creation of a new one, wouldn't it be better to maintain the cycle if it were regular and planned rather than rarely and randomly just because Beerus is in a bad mood?

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
He doesn't get into temper tantrums all the time. I mean Beerus is millions of years old, so he must have been choreographed on the destruction of certain planets during his lifetime. Hell, the Gods of Destructions and God of Creation used to have regular meetings, so it obvious that Beerus followed a code of what planets were meant to be destroyed.Barunks wrote:If the whole idea is that the destruction of an old world is followed by the creation of a new one, wouldn't it be better to maintain the cycle if it were regular and planned rather than rarely and randomly just because Beerus is in a bad mood?

I'd never heard of things before. And the fat, pink blob was being so damn selfish with the pudding.sintzu wrote:This is coming from someone who gets mad over pudding and hot sushi.Lord Beerus wrote:He doesn't get into temper tantrums all the time.
And it was wasabi not hot sushi. Big difference.

Wasabi is hot as shit and I didn't know any better. And there was no milk on stand-by, in case it was too hot for me to handle. Have you ever tasted wasabi and not lost it from how hot and spicy it is?sintzu wrote:Oh I'm sorry now that makes what you did to those planets better.Lord Beerus wrote:And it was wasabi not hot sushi. And what happened to planet was completely accidental. But, hey, I'm not the God Of Destruction for nothing?

I think there's a good chance Beerus will get thrashed by Freeza going of the series' history of introducing a nearly unstoppable character only for him to get beaten by the next big baddy or SSJ form in the next saga.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
If all that was an accident then maybe it's a good thing you'll be sleeping for the majority of the next movie.Lord Beerus wrote:

Yep, Vegeta's just being his typical tsundere self. "I-it's not like I care about my friends and family or anything!" *blush*Chuquita wrote:I think Vegeta might be posturing when it comes to Gokû here. He's being standoffish because he doesn't feel comfortable in a buddy-buddy role, so he's relying on being all 'hmph' instead.
I don't have a problem with him talking about wanting to best Gokuu, because even if that's no longer his single-minded obsessive focus following his "you are number 1!" speech, it's always going to be a goal for him. So he's no longer gonna do dumb shit like turn to the Dark Side to help reach that goal, but he'll keep training his ass off and hope to surpass him that way. He's a Saiyan, after all, they don't seem to have much interest in anything besides fighting. Though as was mentioned earlier, it'd be nice if Gokuu is more into the rivalry like he was in the JSAT special. Then we can have more fun scenes of them arguing over petty nonsense!

Never really thought about Vegeta as tsundere. He's pretty much the Asuka of Dragon Ball...just without, you know, lots of depression and all the things that come with Evangelion. Though, I guess his many breaking points where he talks about how much the rivalry affects him kinda counts.
If Vegeta is Asuka, is Gohan Shinji? Who's Rei?
Either way, regarding the recent blog post, I do think fans are reading a little too much into it. This is purely promotional material for the film composed by a marketing team. It's not indicative of his personality in the film whatsoever. I do agree that the writing makes little sense in the timeline of these events. If Freeza's coming back, you know for damn sure that he's going to want to get his chance to defeat him regardless of how easy he thinks it'll be. He cares about his rivalry with Goku but he wouldn't turn away from the chance to avenge his heritage.
I'll be genuinely surprised if Toriyama writes it any other way. I guess we'll see! Either way, there's going to be a scene where they laugh at (what they perceive as) Freeza's pitiful power. How serious things turn out after that remains to be seen.

"You thought you'd never see me again, didn't you? WELL, TOO BAD!"
I hope Frieza reveals he's really Cell, and says that line again.

"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I think a good gauge on Vegeta in F will be whenever Bulma's Blog has Horikawa on as a guest.
Also, I third "Vegeta is a tsundere." at this point in the storyline. :3
I feel like it's also happened in the movies a lot. Whenever he appears to rescue Gokû, his lines sound like that.
Gokû participating in the rivalry in 08 special was so much fun. I liked the subtle parts a lot, like him pulling up a chair next to Vegeta, or immediately homing in on him when they first arrive. And the "eats Vegeta's food, then asks if he was going to eat it". It creates a back and forth between then instead of it just being Vegeta prodding Gokû.
