"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
It's unfortunate there's no change. I can only hope that whatever they chose to prioritize instead was related to Super.
On hiatus.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I don't think they care about the quality they give to the international market and Kai's Buu arc is proof of this.Araki wrote:I think they need to fix it for overseas markets.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

It's still better than the poorly edited Japanese version, isn't it?sintzu wrote:I don't think they care about the quality they give to the international market and Kai's Buu arc is proof of this.
Kai 2.0 was something they've put out in a grudgingly manner all around, but it wouldn't even exist if not for foreign audiences. I think Toei has been showing signs of having the international market in mind for their productions in recent years, they just don't know how to make it right.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
His plans seem to be trying to identify a specific planet after it explodes. Freeza could very well help in that department. And then there's the whole thing about how Goku asked "What kind of training did you do?" when Freeza went into his 4th form.Araki wrote:Why would Champa put his plans on hiatus to train Freeza? How would that make sense?
Besides, the Gods of Destruction aren't masters as far as we know, so it should be Vados.
Tim Duncan is dope and forever.

What's that? This was 15 episodes ago?!
Alright, let's move on then. One bad apple in a series that is now very much proving itself to be worthwhile isn't going to hurt anyone. DBZ had plenty of regularly god-awful animation and that never hurt the series' appeal.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
If this is true then it does make sense, Super is on going, so would they really have time to go back and correct episodes? Web series like SMC it makes sense it because it had and I assume could afford an irregular episode schedule, whereas in Super's case they have to pump out episodes every week so I think it would make sense Toei would prioritise upcoming episodes rather then going back, probably why OP didn't have any corrected/touched up episodes too. Also as Detective X said it is just one episode not really the end of the world, and it is in the BoG retelling and we still have the film.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
It is at the beginning from what I read but both versions after the tournament have bad editing that wasn't present in Kai 1.0 and the remastering and colors aren't as good as Kai 1.0.Araki wrote: It's still better than the poorly edited Japanese version, isn't it?
The Japanese version fixes certain color problems such as Buu's eyes which aren't fixed in the international version.

Another interview
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AInSWDw2l70
Talks about DBS, Broly (and the possibility of a new film) and says that GT is a spin-off (13:26 to 16:30).
Tadayoshi Yamamuro really said that?

Hmm, they made some interesting question to Yamamuro in this interview. Someone care to translate? My spanish is low averageBonus Stage wrote:Another interview

How about no? It's a shame that Toei don't care about fixing the worst animated episode in the series that is DBS Episode #5. This episode hurts our pride, not intend to say that Dragon Ball was always a series with consistent and great animation, but the neglect in this case was unbearable. No doubt it had reasons for protests and petitions in social networks from fans worldwide.Detective X wrote:Dragon Ball Super episode 5's animation wasn't even that bad. Toei needs to start see DB in a more passionate way just like we fans do, for godly sake.

That is unacceptable.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Can't say with complete certainty, but ScholarGohan sent me this. It seems that Episode 5 hasn't been fixed for the home release. Brief summary of the Korean at the top of the page, the post or email response is Japanese though, so can't help there.
- You can't ask Toei anything on their website unless you join, so I did.
Was curious and asked if they would be fixing Episode 5 for the blu-ray home release.
Toei responded with "We didn't really have any plans to fix it".
Japan subtitles are impossible.
So it's not worth buying the set. lol
Bloody freakin unacceptable.
I know that the sales of home release for Dragon Ball animes in the past hasn't been a priority of income over the years for Toei, but that episode really needed some touching up.

A large majority of the fans don't care, because they're kids who'll eat up anything. That's the harsh truth.Noah wrote:How about no? - (Tadayoshi Yamamuro) I wish there was a new movie Dragon Ball, although no official statement. I hope that next year there's another movie.
- Akira Toriyama would have to decide eveything, as in the films he decides everything about the character design, writing the script and has the ultimate authority to be the creator of the work. Subsequently, the animation director gives life and shape the characters.
- I do not know the future of Dragon Ball, but the series will pass from generation to generation.
- I wish Broly reappeared and participate in his fourth film
- After the Super Saiyan God we find the Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball GT, although the latter series has characteristics of spin-off. GT's script was not made by Akira.

What are you talking about, "hurts your pride". That's ridiculous.Noah wrote:How about no? Jeez, people, I love Dragon Ball as much as you but don't take this episode so personally. Episode 5 was a small misstep in an otherwise great and fun series. It's not some dark omen of consistently poor quality like everyone thought.
Let's celebrate all the great episodes we've had since the Battle of Gods arc ended and not focus on this single episode which is stuck in hyperbole as a low-point of the franchise.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Talk that to yourself. "harsh truth"? For realsies? Like we didn't see a lot of complaning in YouTube, Facebook fan pages, groups, DB sites, foruns (including Kazenshuu of course) about this damn episode? Geez, I think you're living in your own little world.Doctor. wrote:A large majority of the fans don't care, because they're kids who'll eat up anything. That's the harsh truth.
No, it's not ridiculous... I don't want discuss about how much you "love" Dragon Ball, but the hatred about what was made in this episode was huge and I can understand why. We passionate fans of the franchise always expect the best from the series, we're so hyped about Super when it was announced, that when we are about to see the episode that would be the first real battle in the series, the first step to excite fans to really get tuned in... They just send us a spewed animation episode that only yielded complaints and memes? Outrageous, really.Detective X wrote:What are you talking about, "hurts your pride". That's ridiculous.

Yes, a bunch of foreign fans, who aren't the target audience and are watching the series illegally to begin with, will surely make a difference. They don't care.Noah wrote:Talk that to yourself. Your last response was pretentious. You could have said: "A large majority of the fans don't care... IN JAPAN" and I couldn't say nothing against with, I just saw some complaints on Twitter by japanese fans, don't know how they reacted in overallDoctor. wrote:Yes, a bunch of foreign fans, who aren't the target audience and are watching the series illegally to begin with, will surely make a difference. But the question is: Dragon Ball is not only Japan like One Piece, Dragon Ball is worldwide and that's proofs Toei lack of vision about showing resistance to give the rights of DBS to the occident yet, they could profit a lot more.

They fixed Saint Seiya and Sailor Moon Crystal, but not Dragon Ball?!
I just wanted a normal episode 5 without "animation collapse".
