Oh man, I've wanted an electronic scouter for so long. There's a non walkie-talkie version that was released with other items such as Goku's wristbands and a Saiya-jin tail, but I can't find it for a decent price (I'm not paying $35 for it).

It's unlikely, but I hope they can bring the pre-order bonuses here. I've always wanted to take my own scouter picture, after all!

And in the meantime let me try and find that electronic scouter for a better price...

I hate to bring up such a tired issue, but the Playdia footage DID see a release on one of the Dboxes in Japan, didn't it? If FUNi acquired the Dbox masters, doesn't that mean that they would have acquired it as well?

Isn't there at least some likelihood that we'll see a legitimate release of the footage with the DBoxes?

This is what I'm really hoping for. I own the 2nd DBZ DBox from Japan and would most definitely sell it if FUNi gets the OVA on their sets. That, and the TV specials are what I most want besides the series itself.

Yeah They did....

This is the best news I've herd in a very long time.. Does anyone know if wal-mart will be carrying these sets? I would FYE be my best bet??? I hope they release DB and GT also... Since were getting the first set in November this is just my guess of how there going to be released....

Then Again this is just a guess, I could be wrong but this is most likely... So another 3 yrs and The Dragonbox Z set will be complete...

I'm gonna be 30 by the time the final box comes out.

Remember how toei did there Dragon Boxs? That's how FUNi is doing it, they started with Dragon Ball Z, they don't have a reason not to Dragon Ball next.

All Movies will most likely be duplicates of Dragon Box the Movies.

Depends on what Funi wants to do. They've denied the Playdia footage up and down for years now. But since they are doing this release for us, I'm sure they may be considering hit. Their very eyes might be on this thread.

The fact that the Playdia footage is so old now...it wouldn't surprise me if Funi released it with subs, and without a dub, if they do have the rights to it.

I think that mainly because this release seems to be for the sub fans. And also because Funi wouldn't need to dub it to sell the movie boxset, as movies 1-13 would be the only draw for most dub fans anyway.

I see no reason for them to have NOT acquired the rights to it, if they've gotten the DBox masters.

I'd really like to see a legitimate North American release, I'm tired of watching crappily subbed versions on Youtube...

I have a sneaking suspicion that if Mr. Daimao said he was working on something other than the next episode previews (I believe that was mentioned something around ten or twenty pages back), it may very well be Plan to Eradicate the Saiya-jin. I can't think of anything else it could really be.

The only other thing it COULD be would be the Jump Special, but I can't see FUNi having already acquired the rights to that...

I was thinking more or less the exact same thing; save for the fact that it's not like the Playdia footage is any more or less older than anything else Dragon Ball related out there that's not the new special or Kai (and FUNi dubbed their last piece of Dragon Ball anime material what, back in 2005, 2006?).

Let's face it, Dragon Ball itself, no matter what part of the original anime material you can possibly think of, is pretty goddamned old, and FUNi finished dubbing just about all of it not all that terribly long ago (three years ago). If FUNi decides to dub or not dub the Playdia stuff, I sincerely doubt that age of the material would play any remote factor into their decision at all, especially considering the last piece of anime material they dubbed not all that long ago (movie 13 I think?) was from 1995, only two years after the Playdia footage, and more than 11 years after it’s original release.

I swear, people REALLY have a hard time remembering how old ALL this stuff actually is.

More than likely, I would think that if the Playdia footage was included in these releases, it'd be sub-only purely on account that it'd be that much less work and money FUNi needs to spend on this release (that I'm sure securing the rights for was pricey enough an endeavor in and of itself) coupled together with the fact that it appears to be catering mostly to the sub fans.

Other than securing the rights, packaging, encoding, and paying Simmons to do some extra misc. translation work, I very much doubt that they want to spare any further expense on a release aimed at such a specific niche of the Dragon Ball fanbase. Then again who knows, they may very well just go THAT far all out (I mean hell, it’s not like any of us expected this release to be a possibility AT ALL).

Maybe if we all buy the blue bricks, they'll have enough money to Sub it and Dub it!

Not to mention the supposed focus on the "Hardcore" fanbase, a.k.a. the group of fans that would really like to see a release of the footage...

Well, if they have the Dragonbox now, I would assume they have the rights to the Playdia footage. If they don't have time/money/want to dub it, that's fine. Throw it on in with these sets! Daimao's sub included, and I'll be happy.

Though, I've always wanted a legitmate domestic release. Before the Season Sets would've been appropriate for a nice looking DVD like this:

Meh... Oh well.

Ok, I'm serious. Back into obscurity land with me. Even though this announcement has seriously brought back my DBZ interest like a raging inferno!
