Reading the synopsis, I'm taking Shenlong leaving after not granting 3 wishes as not a plothole. He seemed pretty scared of Birus, as was probably wanting to get out of there as soon as Birus got what he wanted.

Quick question though: did Shenlong actually look like he was granting a wish (eyes flashing, etc) when he agreed to tell everyone about Super Saiyan God?

I don't like the idea of "righteous Saiyans" from the past, mostly because it'll give people an excuse to presume that Goku's goodness comes from that and not from a hilarious brain injury. Oh, also there'll be more Bardock wanking.

What a synopsis! Thank you! It sounds amazing!
Does this mean that we will get more movies, sequels?
I really want to see Goku beat Birus and Uis and whoever the strongest god of destruction is!

So how about the Pilaf gang only getting 1 wish out of him?

Mr. Satan not knowing about Dende is really strange and could've been avoidable :? but, other than that, the movie looks like it's awesome! The synopsis changed my perception of some scenes, especially the big battle. The whole "It's great being a God, right?" "I guess... but this isn't how I want to do it" adds great depth to it.

Julian, was it better than you expected? How was the audience's reaction leaving the theatre?

You could just explain they all made the same wish.

When Shenlong is summoned he says the number of wishes he'll grant so if he says he'll grant one, either Dende changed that back for no reason or it's a plothole.

I think of those "righteous Saiyans" being more like Tarble than Goku, hence the reason why Super Saiyan God was the only way they actually stood a chance against the normal Saiyans.

Is it just me, or is it super obvious that this movie has been through a number of script changes. I know there was the whole thing with Birus originally being the one who made the Saiyans evil (which would make Super Saiyan God seem a lot less random), but there were also other plot lines like the "Creation and Destruction" thing which seemed particularly important in initial promotional material- but turned out to have little importance to the actual plot of the film.

I agree with you. As soon as I read "before creation comes destruction" in Bills' dialogue in the summary, I wondered what cut plot element he could be referring to.

Another thing, Pan is considered a righteous Saiyan despite Videl just recently becoming pregnant? Who wrote this, Phyllis Schlafly?

Humans are inherently good until they are corrupted?

I loved the synopsis, it was fantastic! I'm really surprised at how detailed it was, I mean, I knew it was going to be detailed, but not to this extent. :D Sounds like the best DB movie ever, by far. Now just got to hope it does well enough to get more movies or a new series, I just hope Toriyama will continue to be such a big part in the creation if something new is made. :)

It presumes that a fetus even has a personality.

IIRC you don't have to use up all the allotted wishes at one time. The trio probably dismissed Shenron after wishing for youth.

Well, so much for trying to stay away from the spoilers.

One of my favorite things was the discussion around who fits "the pure hearted saiyan" description and who doesn't and I like that they question if Goku fits the bill too or not.

I actually didn't expect the movie to end with "they're friends now" I thought that Goku's defeat and the near destruction of the earth would be the main things to lead to a sequel, but it seems they were set on keeping everything as cheerful as possible.

Also, Vegeta was more willing to do the right thing than Goku was... that's somehting!

Edit: Also, when can we expect the see some numbers regarding sales? Is this weekend too early?

What reason would they have for that? They wanted world domination and only chose to be de-aged because they didn't want to die before they got it. So with more wishes, they could have next wished for world domination.

The 1 wish per person theory could work but surely they'd see the mistake after the first one.

Could it be that they didn't know that Shenlong could grant more than one wish now? That was the rule when they last saw him. They had their wish and then they simply dismissed him?

I would think that they didn't know, but Shenlong would tell them wouldn't he? Doesn't he always tell them/ask about it?

Maybe it would be like...

"Make us all younger!"

"That will use all three wishes. Are you okay with that?"

"Of course! Why wouldn't we be?"

"Okay." *BAM* "Well, see ya." *Whoosh*

Kind of the same as how wishing back a large group of people uses two wishes in one go.
