When they see the sales to Dragon Box Z they'll do an entire Dragon Box release, FUNimation has been finishing things lately.
Hey, maybe they'll even release Dragon ball AS a Dragon Box release. It could be possible that they will do DBZ and DB as DBOX releases at once. But that's doubtable.
Or they might do it like there season sets. These box sets are verrry close to the actual Dragon Box prices. Please include the kick ass presents FUNi!

For the original DB, maybe they'll do 4 sets with the 4th one being the cheapest since it only holds 2 discs.

If it's going to take FUNimation a couple of years to release all of Z, imagine how long it will take them to release Dragon Ball and GT! It's going to take a long ass time to get the entire series through this release. I don't know if I can wait that long. I really want to just be done collecting already. I mean, we don't even know for sure if they're going to be doing Dragon Ball or GT. I don't want to waste all this time and money collecting Z with no guarantee that I'm going to have the rest of the anime series.

Yeah, that's why I'm getting the GT Season Two, the Dragon Ball sets and then (at least) the first 2 Dragon Boxes and ending it at that.

I think I'm mainly anxious for the first two or three of these sets, since those particular episodes are predominantly where most of the more glaring video problems with the season sets lie. After we get through most of the Freeza saga, while I'll still be very much collecting the rest of these, my smack-addict levels of anticipation and eagerness will have gone down a great deal, since I can more or less live with the quality on the bricks from the Cell arc on down (mostly).

When the GT DBoxes come out, I'll finally watch GT in it's entirety.

Well said Kunzait! Seems we have similar plans for these sets (although I am not so sure about getting the rest, because I have tons of other things I need to buy and too little money!

I'll gladly buy GT Dragon Boxes just to have the damned Japanese title cards. Not having them is easily the single most annoying aspect of the green bricks.

Oh don't get me wrong... I'm DEFINITELY getting all of these. That's a given. Just because I can
live with the quality on the latter season sets doesn't necessarily mean I'm in any way wild about them (I'm not, especially for episodes drawn by the lesser animation studios which seem to REALLY suffer under the faux-remastering, even as far in as season 8 ).
But yeah, once I get the Saiya-jin and Feeza arcs in their entirety, I won't be tearing my fingernails off against the walls in anticipation for each of the subsequent releases.

I would imagine that this release will use the Japanese episode titles in the menus, then?

I was actually just thinking about that: what ARE the episode titles going to be for these, both in the menus, as well as the booklets?
I mean, would FUNi still subscribe to dub episode titles on a release that defaults the the Japanese version (and may not even have the English title cards on them at all)? Or would we be getting Simmons' title translations instead? This also begs the larger question that I asked MUCH earlier in the thread about what naming conventions the booklet will go by, as well as whether or not any story-related stuff in it will be "dub-ized".
Since the booklets may well contain translated Dragon Box material, would they just leave Simmons' direct translation alone and untampered with? Will we see "Tenshinhan" and "Kuririn" and "Son Goku" and "Makankosappo" and all possible mentions of "Ki" left well the hell alone on material printed for an official English language Dragon Ball product for the first time ever?

Oh yeah, I know that. I'm just saying that's where we differ.
Our plans are similar in that we
really want the early sets because the first few Season Sets were downright horrendous! But where we differ is afterward, where you are simply going to cool down a bit, whereas I may stop altogether (or wait a year or two after release...)

So...
Not buying the often dubbed "orange brick" DVD sets paid off for me?
Hot damn.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

I've got to say, the more and more I think about it, the more and more I believe that a Dub Music Track WILL in fact be a deciding factor for me. Though my preference lies in the Japanese music, the Faulconer score will forever have a place in my heart. I simply will NOT have 2 different DBZ releases on my shelf. It's gotta be one or the other for me, plus if I bought the DBOX, I'd want to sell my Season Sets. I guess for me, my heart lies in audio content rather than Video content. As much as I despise the look and problems of the earlier Season Sets, and the 16:9. I'll take it if it means I still have the option to hear a sentimental sound.
To me, I don't see why FUNi WOULDN'T put it on. I mean it's not really hurting anyone to be on there. You don't have to listen to it. Plus it's certainly a wiser business move. After already releasing DBZ in nice cheap Season Sets obviously there's not a huge market for this like there was back in 2006 when Season 1 was announced. I realize WHO they're marketing this for. But with the money they probably had to shell out to get this footage, how can they expect to make a good profit on a series that they just got done releasing for a cheaper price than this release will be. I mean really...
2006: HUGE MARKET for DBZ Box Sets -- FUNi releases 9 at $50 Retail each.
2009: People just coming off buying the Season Sets. Much smaller market -- 7 at $80 Retail each.
FUNi has to realize that there are people like me who are willing to re-buy the complete series for a 3'rd time. But ONLY IF we get the Dub Music. It really is a wiser choice.
Also I hear some people mentioning reverse importing. People in Japan importing these from the states. Er...I've got this to say...Remember when people were actually complaining that the Japanese DBOX didn't have English Subs on it? To me this is the same thing. This is an AMERICAN release. What people in Japan think should have no bearing. It's not a product for them.

Christ, I was only eleven years old when I first got into Dragonball Z. I'm twenty-three now, and I'll be buying the series for the THIRD time(bootlegs in 2004, orange bricks, now these), starting from the first episode. I'll probably be 25 by the time I'll finally have every episode in english and japanese, and probably thirty by the time we get our hands on FUNi's version of Kai and hopefully DBOX footage of DB and GT.

I got into DBZ when I was 10 years old. I'm twenty years old now. Man, so many memories revolve around Dragon Ball. Part of my heart wants 1999 to remain forever and no age growth. We would be discussing at the schools all the time. Dang! Old times are now distant past.

It's hard not to make the joke! I mean, we've gone from
that dub to the freakin' Dragon Boxes! Also, being that there'll be seven Dragon Boxes that'll be numbered by a corresponding Dragonball and with what Freeza was talking about at the time...
It's just too hard to pass up!!!
